The kale sweet potato salad was really good and great for a light lunch. The menu had a pretty good selection of paleo options too which can be hard to find. Def will come pack to try a paleo wrap.

This is for the takeout restaurant not the butcher shop. BBQ beef sandwich was solid, although somewhat small. $ 2.50 for a side salad that was literally 5 bites of bagged greens with no veggies, avocado or anything else was insulting. Coming from someone who’s lived in SF for 15 years and knows food prices.

This is a meat company with both a meat counter and an attached restaurant(the American Eatery) in the ferry building. This review is specific to the meat counter, and excludes the restaurant part. Parking for the ferry building is street only which means there is no parking in real terms, but have no fear the ferry building is a transportation hub with a dozen or so non car related ways to get here. This is not a full service meat counter-what you see is what you get so no custom cuts. Also it’s limited to beef, pork and lamb. The good news is that all the items on offer are superlative, especially if you are wanted hormone free organic food options. Price competitive? Not really. You are paying a premium for the superior quality of the meat. Unique and useful items include lard, and bone broth both which are particularly useful when making certain dishes, although lard is mildly controversial in use these days both from a health and ethics standpoint. Still if you have to eat meat and/or meat products Prather Ranch offers you a decent moral compromise as it is sustainable, humane and hormone free.

Review is for their Kale salad — I fantasize about you around 11am, $ 12.30 of pure happiness every single time. My co-workers may think your price point isn’t worth it, but OH how I know it is(although can I get some sort of punch card? I mean you see me order the same thing everyday. maybe like one free after 5)?

Prather Ranch is herding its way straight to my heart. While other lunch options in the area are totally outside the tent, this joint aligns perfectly with my idea of a tasty, healthful, nutritious lunch. Things that matter to me: 1. Meat that’s local, sustainable, and consciously raised. Can you taste the difference? I can. The meat here is crazy good. 2. Consciousness of whole foods and non-processed ingredients. You can get all kinds of crazy paleo here and it doesn’t require hacking the menu at all. No carbs? No problemo. 3. Tasty food. Prather ranch delivers on all three. In spades. I sampled the rancher’s chili(delicious!!) and a Prathertarian Paleo Bowl — with heritage pork, roasted cauliflower rice, braised greens, and pickled red onions($ 11.00). The chili — I could eat this all day. Beefy with a few beans in a robust chili. Mmmmm… And the bowl? Super high quality braised pork over cauliflower with greens? Ungh. All. Day. Long. They have numerous other paleo options as well as bone broth, which I have yet to try. My dining mate got the paleo bowl with a lamb patty instead of pork. The patty looked divine. I’ll definitely be back for lunch, and often. This hits me right in the sweet spot.

I’m the wrong person to be writing this bc they literally only serve beef here and I don’t eat beef. Great sadness that they don’t have chicken or other protein options for non-beef eaters. Nonetheless, the paleo kale salad was plentiful and filling — the chips were too greasy, though cooked in their beef oil.

I was feeling like something hot and nourishing today in honor of the rainy weather. I remembered that Prather Ranch Meat Company serves up bone broth — and so I placed an order for a cup, as well as Prather’s vegetarian paleo bowl — which consists of cauliflower rice, braised greens, diced sweet potato, and pickled onions. The bone broth though soothing — didn’t have much taste — but being the broth broth advocate that I am — I sipped it with a smile. The Vegetarian Paleo bowl seemed small at first — but it was surprisingly filling. They keep the seasonings of the Vegetarian Paleo bowl pretty minimal so if you’re looking to wow your tastebuds — you may want to try something else on their menu. I enjoyed the dish though and I liked that they didn’t add a ton of oil of garlic(which many eateries seem to do when it comes to vegetables). If you’re a meat-eater — Prather Ranch Meat Company is a superb spot to purchase your meats. All of the meat that they serve is antibiotic and hormone free — as well as being grass fed. Prather Ranch Meat Company is a firm believer in humanely raised meats as well as using the whole animal. I haven’t had much interaction with Prather Ranch Meat Company at their physical location at the Ferry Building, but judging by their dedication to serving up organic meat — I am confident that all of their staff would be excited to assist with any questions that you may have in regards to any of their meat products. Trust.

We LOVE Prather Ranch so much ! Selection is great– But mainly we love Prather cause they are responsible! OH — And we ADORE Carter! High quality, sustainable, humanely raised animal meats and they are dialed in on the whole-animal sales model. The nose-to-tail approach is extraordinary and the ranchers and farmers take painstaking measure to do it correctly!

Great burger. Meat is fantastic. Cooked perfectly. Tallow fries are great with their homemade ketchup. Can’t go wrong here.

The hot dogs here came highly recommended and so I thought I would finally give them a whirl. When I asked the person at the counter about them they replied«They’re good, but I’m kind of sick of them…» I ordered the Chuckwagon chili dog anyway. I got a black cherry soda with it and she told me that I could get one free refill with any other flavor, «in case I didn’t like the black cherry.» Fortunately, I liked both the chili dog and the soda! There was a line of people waiting patiently for their food with their buzzers but it seems like the hot dog was easier to make than anything because my buzzer started buzzing writhing minutes. She warned me to grab a fork and knife(«It’s not a mobile chili dog…») and I’m glad she did because the dog was covered in ingredients! The Chuckwagon chili dog is a PRMC dry-aged hot dog covered with PRMC chuckwagon chili, sharp cheddar, sour cream, and green onion. And it was delicious! Good sized, robust, and full of flavor. I took it out to one of the benches outside the Ferry Building and enjoyed my lunch on the waterfront. If you’re ever at the Embarcadero and stop by the myriad of foodie places at the Ferry Building, stop by the Prather Ranch Meat Company and get a hot dog. The staff might be sick of them but you won’t be. For awhile…

This place is amazing. I received my meat-of-the-month box today and it was packed as if it was ready for a NASA launch — super clean and frozen solid. The flavors and recipes were all top notch. Everything these folks do is top notch — no wonder they were voted best butcher in SF. If you like quality, local meat and care about being part of sustainable food sheds, Prather should be on your list. And don’t miss the Bacon — it’s their«gateway» meat for those who think all cured products are the same. Wish I could give these guys 6 stars!

Located in The Ferry Building which is truly one of my favorite stops in SF. I came this time with my 2 brothers for Fleet Week and we wanted to grab a bite before heading down to watch the show. The line was long so that’s a good sign right? The real drawback is the lack of seating but we lucked out and snagged a table. I ordered the lamb burger with Avo and Shrooms. And my brothers got the cheese burger combo that cake with fries and homemade catsup. They seemed to enjoy their burgers. Did they even chew? I swear they were don’t in 3 bites. Lol My lamb burger came without my shrooms so I brought it back and they quickly and apologetically added them. Although my burger was good, it wasn’t anything super special. It seemed to lack a little flavor. But the bun held up great which is always a pet peeve of mine. I think next time I’ll try their chili dog. It actually looked pretty darn good!

Gah — I honestly do get an uncomfortable tingly feeling when I have an experience that seems so against what Unilocal consensus tells me it should be. Did I order the wrong thing? Am I being too critical? What the heck happened? At the end of the day I can only speak to my experience and give as much explanation as I can, and my experience at Prather Ranch Meat Company on a Saturday morning was nothing incremental over mediocre compared to other offerings nearby. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Unlike some of the temporary stalls outside, PRMC is one of the more established facilities in the ferry building. The upside there is that they’re able to convey an actual atmosphere that a simple stall really can’t — and they do a decent job at that. Service is fast and friendly, and the menu is simple while being diverse. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? So here’s the thing. In that I was in the midst of a foodie binge, I’d had a Maple Bacon Breakfast Sandwich from 4505 Meats, which is literally one hundred yards away from PRMC: 4505 Meats: Maple Bacon Breakfast Sandwich: This being the case, I was in a pretty good place to make a good comparison between breakfast sandwiches. While my 4505 sandwich was $ 10, my PRMC Breakfast Sandwich was only $ 8.00. To be fair, it was a bit smaller, but still brought decent value considering the venue and city. Other options are priced similarly. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Meh. Sure, the lighting is better on my 4505 sandwich, but picture aside my 4505 Maple Bacon Breakfast sandwich blew the PRMC Breakfast Sandwich out of the water. At PRMC, the bun was basic, the sausage nothing incremental over what you’d find in the frozen section of the grocery market, and the toppings didn’t add much to the equation. I couldn’t even taste the sharp cheddar or the pork spread, and the arugula was a bit wet. Not a great experience, but this could have just been an off order. No Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? With as good as my experience at neighboring 4505 Meats was, I simply couldn’t recommend PRMC on a regular basis. No Star Granted.

Steak salad was mediocre. The dressing wasn’t interesting and the meat was difficult to cut and chew. The tallow fries were amazing!

The food is really tasty but also really small. The drinks are really small too; kid sized, maybe 8oz, with tons of ice basically. There are no refills either so it gets more expensive. There is very limited seating so be prepared to stand and eat. Note: If you do get to sit be polite, finish your food and move on quickly. Sitting and playing with your phone, going on about office politics and complaining about people hovering around you waiting for your seat doesn’t help.

Prather Ranch Meat Company is my kind of place. Simple, clean, expertly curated ingredients prepared fresh and served conscientiously and without fanfare. They let their product speak for them and their products speak volumes. First off they serve fresh prepared bone broth. Not bullion, not stock but fresh bone broth which is not only delicious but super, super nutrient dense. I have only eaten their twice and both times I ordered the Prathertarian Paleo Bowl, once with shredded pork and once with dry aged beef and it was excellent each time. The meat was succulent and perfectly cooked and it was served on a bed of riced cauliflower(Oh cauliflower is there anything you can’t do? :Homer:) and a simple sautee of local greens(chard in my case). Prather Ranch Meat Company is the kind of place you go when you want a clean, fast, healthy and incredibly delicious meal. It is what fast food(or slow-food served fast) should be. I cannot recommend them enough. Oh and hit up their butcher shop while you’re there and get some nice meats for the grill.

Decided to do a quick lunch here on our way to our next destination and thought it was pretty good! There wasn’t a long wait to order when we got there but the wait for food took a while. We went with the Grilled Porkloin Sandwich — I personally wanted to try a chillidog but because Rick doesn’t eat beef that wasn’t an option. They gave us buzzers to hold onto for our order(so we’d know when our food was ready) it took a long time considering they were pretty simple items. Regardless we enjoyed our meal.

Oh. My. God… There is a station out front with«samples» of various meats. Today they had pork loin and beef brisket. $ 5 for enough meat to make a full lunch. And they were unbelievably amazingly delicious meats, too! I would eat there constantly if I still lived here. Damn, I miss this city! You would have to be crazy to pass up this food — so don’t! Getcher butt down there and eat some!

I was at the San Francisco Farmer’s Market at the Ferry Building and needed to hit a food stall to satisfy my hunger. After an early morning of full-court basketball and a late morning of laps of the Ferry Building /Farmer’s Market, I was starved. Luckily, I bumped into the Prather Ranch Meat Company food stall outside, which advertised All Beef Hot Dogs. I proceeded to order the PRMC Hot Dog, which was topped with bacon and scallions. What I received wasn’t a hot dog. It was a MANDOG! It was a beast. The man dog was sizeable and was topped with a generous portion of the aforementioned bacon and scallion toppings. I also helped myself to some diced onions that were made available as well as traditional condiments, ketchup and mustard. I then realized that I had a first world problem: How on Earth was I going to eat this man dog, which was loaded with toppings, without spilling all over myself? Then answer was to eat my first hot dog with a fork & knife and several napkins. The PRMC Hot Dog(aka Man Dog) hit the spot!

Located in the Ferry Building, my husband and came by here because I wanted to purchase the«Praise the Lard» shirt($ 25 each, prior to tax). We both purchased one adult shirt(they sell totes, onesies and t-shirts for children, prices vary) and the total came out to $ 54.25(yep, with tax). Now I agree that this is rather a pricey shirt, but I totally love the logo and saying on the shirt(don’t judge me). But anyways, aside from that, we ended up getting an order of chili. Prather Ranch Meat Company sells raw meal and also does sell cooked foods. But unfortunately on this recent visit, the kitchen was just about to close(by 2 pm I believe) but you could still get some chili so we decided to get that since we were hungry. The chili(we were pretty hungry, which I accidently forgot to take a photo of before finishing) was quite meaty. They definitely did not skim on the protein in this chili. It was pretty filling even though it was a small bowl shared between the 2 of us(we also ate food from some of the other food eateries in the Ferry Building). I think I would order this chili again. Service was pretty friendly. The guy who rang up our shirts was friendly and funny. By the way, if you want to snag yourself one of their Praise the Lard shirts, you can buy them on line for the same price, but will have to pay the shipping fee. Overall, a pretty awesome place to get some meat. Too bad we did not get here early enough to get any other food because I would love to try their sausages and their roasted garlic burger.

Straight from the husband’s mouth(or the G Chat we were having prior to me writing this review) regarding our experience getting a breakfast sandwich here this past Saturday morning: «Good flavor, healthy, just about the right portion — maybe just one less star for the price.» I can agree that most everything we came across in the Ferry Building was only-slightly-almost-too-expensive for my taste, but the service was fast and friendly, and I think my husband was just obsessed enough to fall short of wanting to recreate the sandwich at home. Something tells me, though, that it might not be quite the same.
