One of the few things that can comfort a person when they’re their most frightened is someone who carries an innate calm, confidence, and intelligence. That person is Dr Frederick.
Dr Frederick and his staff are some of the finest medical professionals I’ve met, let alone been a patient of. I’ve been seeing him for over a year now for my autoimmune liver disease and he has been the most reassuring, encouraging, helpful Physician I’ve seen during this process.
His staff are professional and meticulous. If you’re a bit scatterbrained like myself, they’ll send you helpful reminders and phone calls regarding your upcoming appointment. If your refills run low, it’s a quick phone call and an almost instant refill.
Most importantly, Dr Frederick takes to heart your unique case. He’s unafraid of reaching out to colleagues for input and will utilize all possible avenues to achieve an understanding of what’s ailing you and what’s most likely to help.
I am a very appreciative patient of Dr Frederick’s. I know his job must be extremely taxing and stressful, but he makes the effort to appear calm and reassuring in all of his encounters. It’s the part of being a physician that can’t be taught in a classroom. Even when news of my condition isn’t the most positive, he does his best to infuse hope into his explanations.
I only wish I could do more to express my gratitude.

Dr. Frederick is one of the best physicians at the SFCLD. I have been seeing him since 2005 for Hepatitis B treatment. He takes his time in every follow-​up and check-​up appointments to explain my condition and give me all necessary information regarding to my treatment in layman terms to making sure that I understand it fully. He talks to a patient instead of at a patient which is very hard to get from a «doctor» nowadays. Besides, everything else he is always on time for appointments.

I have been seeing Dr. Frederick for many years for regular checkups for Hepatitis C. He is the fourth hepatologist I have seen at CPMC, since first being diagnosed with HCV in January 1990, and he is by far «the best» in his field. Not only does he demonstrate considerable empathy (his bedside manner is perfect), but he takes his time during appointments to evaluate me fully, always providing me with all of the information that I require to make a valued decision, regarding treatment, and most importantly, I trust him, without question. Those qualities and the confidence I have in Dr. Frederick’s experience in the treatment of Hepatitis C are the reasons I give him five stars (plus). If you are in need of his special skills, it is from my personal experience that I would highly recommend him to anyone requiring similar treatment. Lastly, he is kind and thoughtful, and never once has he attempted to coerce me into a treatment plan that made me feel uncomfortable, unlike one of his former colleagues, with whom I experienced a very stressful episode early on. I am extremely grateful Dr. Frederick is my HCV caregiver.
