I want to thank RentMethod for making my apt hunt such an enjoyable experience! Before moving to SF, I heard horror stories from friends about crowded open houses and scams on craigslist. I didn’t have to go through any of that! They excelled at both having a very robust website and application process while still having a great team of staff who gave us wonderful service.
RentMethod had a really simple and robust process for finding and applying to apts. I found a unit I liked through apartmentlist, then got redirected to the rentmethod website. Their listing had great high-​quality pictures and comprehensive descriptions, and I was pleasantly surprised when I realized I can schedule a viewing directly on the website. Within seconds, I was able to book an appointment, that was incredible. At the viewing, a RentMethod representative was there to greet us, showed us around, and answered our questions. The unit was by far the best unit we saw, it was a modern and spacious duplex in Alamo Square, and we immediately knew we wanted to apply.
I also appreciated the formal application through the website. The application fee was only $ 25, and it asked us to submit various documents to prove our ability to pay rent. We got an application confirmation via email, and Sarah Akkoush on the RentMethod team also personally reached out to coordinate the responses and negotiations with the owner. Originally, the owner approved the application for 2 people, and when we wanted to add a 3^rd roommate, Sarah was instrumental in helping to communicate our rationale that eventually the owner approved us for 3 people. We are extremely grateful!
Truly hope that RentMethod will expand and help other apt hunters find their dream place, while having the best experience :)

This was the greatest renter’s experience I’ve ever had. Adam showed me the beautiful building and avalible apartments, answered all my questions, and put me in touch with Lucas. Lucas confirmed all my questions and answered my emails so quickly! I was so impressed by the efficiency of this business that I will definitely be using them for all future leases in the city and surrounding areas. Very satisfied customer.

I was fortunate enough to have Alicia on my side. She was super helpful, available to answer questions, and efficiently deal with the drudgery of what can be the rental process.
She was honestly able to help me on questions to ask, deal with negotiating, and handle next steps. As a long-​time renter and homeowner it was very helpful having her on my side and gain from her perspective. She deserves a hug and a big bouquet of flowers!
Overall, from the website to the people everything was a seamless and great experience. I’ve been approved for a place less than 24hrs after seeing it. I’m very excited to move into the new spot and would recommend RentMethod to anyone looking for an apartment!

What a fantastic experience! Seriously, it’s been so smooth and seamless I am writing a same-​day review! I recently listened to the voices in my head that kept chanting «move to San Francisco, move to San Francisco» and sold everything, shipped 4 boxes, packed my car up and drove from OH to SF. Epic road trip right? (Off topic, driving thru CO, UT and that little pocket of AZ was just beyond anything I’ve ever seen)
When I got here, I did the usual and scoured Craigslist and Padmapper all day err day. I checked out San Jose, Palo Alto, Redwood City but there’s just something about living in the city that speaks to my heart. Ok, ok, you got me — the cavernous region inside my body where the heart should reside. I saw a listing from Rent Method and was lured in by their sleek web design, and just loved the pics that they posted. The shots were bright, and so inviting. But you know us cynical NYers, we like to see it before we believe it.
Today I visited 2 units in SOMA, and quite frankly, fell in love with the Rent Method unit. Everything about it was perfect, and I knew that this was home. But what I didn’t know was how seamless the process would be. I toured the home with Steve, he was very patient and helped me crunch the numbers. City living is expensive y’all, but man, small price to pay for being happy where you live right?
I immediately filled out an application online, loved how intuitive the experience was. This process was clearly designed for the renter in mind, and it was super easy to have all my information uploaded and validated. The real star for today was Lucas, not sure if he’s working OT on a Saturday, but I emailed him right after viewing the unit and he responded super quickly. The entire validation process went very smoothly, and he had my approval ready the same day! What’s neat is that all costs are upfront, and very easy to transact online. The lease is also sent to you to sign online. I also liked the Transunion Smart Move portal, this is a tenant pre-​screening portal that was efficient and quick.
All in all, I am a very happy transplant to SF and cannot wait to move into my new unit. Thank you Rent Method for making this such an amazing experience!!! (10 exclamation points for anyone wondering)

I rarely write reviews, but I felt that RentMethod (especially Alicia Jermaine) deserved a review for all of her hard work in helping me secure an apartment. Alicia was extremely helpful during all hours of the day and informed me of everything the owner was looking for (i.e. a particular credit score and income). In addition, she gave me a phone number and was available day and night to answer any of my questions. When it came to signing a lease agreement, and even a move-​in date, Alicia was very attentive and prompt with all of her responses. None of my questions went unanswered and she reminded me how she has been in this business for over 25 years. I am happy to have worked with Alicia and secured my first apartment. It was especially nice to work with someone that understood that I was a student looking for something affordable. I would recommend her to anyone!

RentMethod is the perfect solution for finding apartments. We found a great deal in the perfect location and moved in shortly after that. Very responsive to emails and questions.

Our experience with RentMethod has been most excellent. I originally found their professionally written listing on Craigslist and scheduled a showing the same night. My boyfriend and I first met with Adam, who was super friendly and knowledgable about the unit. We expressed our interest in going forward with the application process and connected with Sarah the next day.
Sarah has been nothing but prompt and attentive in her responses. She helped us secure the unit within a week or so, and the whole process of applying online was straightforward and convenient.
I couldn’t be happier with our new home, especially since it’s near all the great restaurants and Golden Gate Park, AND we have a parking spot! RentMethod has truly helped us find a gem in San Francisco.

After 3 exhaustive, fruitless weeks of searching in SF for an apartment with everything we wanted, we came across RentMethod. We saw a listing that described all the features we were looking for and immediately set up an appointment on their site. The person showed up on time and answered all of our questions and suggested to apply for the unit through the site. We were easily able to upload all of our documentation on our phones and see the progress of the application.
We were lucky to have Sarah Akkoush get in touch with us within 24 hours and tell us that the app was received and processing. It was awesome to get notified immediately, rather than sending an app and fee into the void with no response or semblance of progress. She was in touch every day, asking us questions and accommodating our needs.
Sarah made the whole process seamless and stress-​free. RentMethod would be my first go to from now on when I need to hunt for a new apartment. Thankfully, we were approved for the unit that matched all of our wants – and Sarah facilitated this every step of the way with daily communication. I highly recommend searching their site when starting your apartment hunt. It could potentially save you tons of time and stress, especially in a competitive rental market like San Francisco.

I own a condo in SoMa/​South Beach but live in DC. I had to find a new renter from across the country and RentMethod couldn’t have made it easier. They communicated often and clearly with me every step of the way. They offered personal advice as to small things I could do to the condo to make it more desirable, and my agent offered personal anecdotes about the applicants that helped me make a quick decision.
I couldn’t recommend them higher. Sarah was particularly great to work with.

From a tenant’s perspective, RentMethod is awesome! I showed up to see my now-​home, and from then on it was an incredibly easy, seamless process. The online application was super easy, and I was able to apply immediately upon seeing the property. Sarah was wonderful, quick to communicate and answered all of my questions. Highly recommend!

RentMethod rent my house less than 10 days with the price I expected and the agent Alicia is very honest and efficient. I am glad I made decision using them instead of renting it myself.

UPDATE– originally gave it a 1-​star — but it was due to a system issue they experienced. Although they are still having issues with the phone number listed on the appointment email, RM was able to eventually get a hold me and rescheduled the meeting for 30min later.

I had a wonderful experience with Rent Method! It was easy and everything went smoothly. The online application process was quick and easy to use. And I was able to take a picture of my proof of employment and my driver’s license with my phone and upload it to my application. I was also able to communicate with the real estate agent, Sarah (who was absolutely wonderful!), through email a few times a day to help the process move along quickly. I have no complaints about my experience with rent method and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking to rent. It is simple and easy and you can do everything from your phone! Which worked out so great for me with my work schedule making it difficult for me to contact rental units during normal business hours.

I had an exceptional experience with RentMethod. I am relocating to SF from Los Angeles and wanted to find an apartment quickly and hassle free. I could not have done it without RentMethod. I first viewed the studio online and then in person. The photos RentMethod used were 100% accurate and the studio looked even better in person. Adam was a great leasing agent. Sarah, the account manager, was extremely patient and responsive to all of my emails. She kept me update to date about the listing and also my application status. I highly recommend RentMethod to anyone looking to rent in SF!

I showed up about twenty minutes early for a showing of an apartment that looked great online — after two months of unsuccessful searching — and sure enough it was great in person. I was able to begin my application online while everyone else who showed up on time realized they too wanted to rent the unit. Because I got my application in first and was very quickly processed, I found out the next day that I could sign the lease.
Sarah was fantastic at quick communication and she even helped me to make a plea to the owner to keep my cat in an otherwise, «NO PETS» rental.
The unit is as great as I had hoped, Sarah was awesome, and using the online application and lease signing with RentMethod was easy and efficient.

My experience with RentMethod started a bit shaky, with me showing up for an apartment sighting for a unit which had already been leased. Coincidentally, I could still view other open places in the building with another tour, and decided to get a place anyway.
The process was quick, with Lucas replying throughout the Saturday and Sunday as well. After the first hiccup, the entire experience was problemless.

I had a great experience with RentMethod, leasing an apartment in a new space. The on-​site agent Sarah was fantastic, helpful, and took extra time to make sure I found the space I wanted. Lucas handled the digital side of my leasing process and his turnaround and communication was excellent.

Looking for a new apartment can be such a pain. Add San Francisco to the mix, and it can be damn near impossible.
Not the case with RentMethod! The whole process was painless, from viewing the brand new property to signing all lease documents. Lucas was a saint with the help and guidance he provided along the way. He clearly had our best interests in mind. My boyfriend and I could not have asked for a better experience!

Well this is unfortunate. My experience with RentMethod climaxed too quickly.
While the online scheduling and application process was quite easy, the company was not very tech savvy in getting a rental lease signed electronically nor in handling remote applications. So, don’t be fooled in thinking this «startup» company transformed the complete rental experience (from interest to getting keys).
I am still waiting to be reimbursed for urgent next day FedEx delivery. It’s been 3 weeks.
Countless phone calls because the agent apparently went MIA, my positive first impression is quickly fading.
