Robert L Shepard

Robert Shepard assisted my partner and I with our estate planning needs. We chose to work with him because of his background in estate planning real estate, and also his previous teaching experience. We found him to be very patient, knowledgeable about estate planning (our immediate need) and, most important, responsive. He was very flexible about working by email, over the phone and in person and responded to questions usually the same day or within 24 hours.

Update… Robert Shepard won our case (s) and he kicks butt!

Robert put my trust together quickly and professionally. He may not be very personable, but he is good, and since he bills on an hourly rate, I’d prefer not to chit chat!

Very happy with using Robert for repeated real estate transactions and estate planning. He’s works well via email so consultation (in person) is kept minimum. I appreciated this, as we’re working professionals and only want to head downtown when required. Robert was also good enough to meet with us in the evening.
When we had a complicated Title issue, Robert was upfront and said he wasn’t the right lawyer for the job. I appreciated his candor (not wasting our time!)
He’s current on estate planning issues so he continues to be our attorney.

I have known Robert Shepard for many years and have referred several people, including my parents to him for estate planning and tax issues.
In response to the people who posted below, not all lawyers are empathetic and not all of them have to be. If an attorney does not practice in a certain field yet you keep asking for advice, you might get a curt response.
Robert has always been professional and is exceptional at what he does. I will continue to refer my friends and family to him for as long as he practices.

Mr. Shepard is a genuine one-​of-​a-​kind individual who has done nothing but help me and my entire family. I came to him with my issue and he immediately laid out the pros and cons of my case. He was so helpful that I recommended both my father and aunt to use his services. He settled our cases, put some money in our pockets and all the while kept a smile on his face and made us feel at ease. I highly recommend Mr. Shepard and would happily use his services again.

an iota of professionalism from this individual!!!
I, as well, am part of my Company’s Legal Plan and sought advice for a legal matter.
Not only was Mr Shepard not helpful in assisting me with my predicament, he was rude and unempathetic!

My advice… seek counsel elsewhere!

So, I started a Unilocal account just so I could write a review on this attorney.
I am part of a legal plan sponsored by my work. I pay a monthly fee and in turn, am granted access to many types of attorneys.
The legal plan gave me Robert Shepard’s name. I called and left a message. He didn’t respond within about four hours and, given it was an important matter, I called again.
On an approximate one-​minute call, he flippantly told me he could not help. I then asked politely if I could explain the situation to see if perhaps what I would say would lead him to agree how I thought he could help and he said in a very stern and rude tone, «you can tell me, but I won’t provide advice because I don’t handle that. You need to call X legal plan back and find someone else».
Because of the nature of the career, an attorney typically interacts with clients (or potential clients) during very difficult times in their lives. I would hope that anyone who pursued this career path would have at least a small empathetic bone in their body. The few moments of ear-​time Mr. Shepard «granted» me seemed to indicate he is missing this empathetic quality. To dismiss someone so quickly without hearing their story, in my opinion, is a disgrace to the industry.
