History

Established in 2012.

Sarah, owner and operator, has been working in the dog care industry for over five years. With these years of experience as a backbone, she decided to start her own dog walking company– «Running With The Pack” — in Spring of 2012. «Running with The Pack» was born from the idea that some dogs just need to run with a pack of other dogs and burn as much energy as they possibly can in a 1 hour outing. Sarah keeps the dogs moving at a quick pace with spurts of running. The service is for small to medium, high energy, healthy, and fit dogs. The reason to specialize in small to medium dogs is to prevent injury and ensure a comfortable and safe experience for everyone. Everything just flows better when everyone is about the same size. Dogs must be under 40lbs to join the pack.

Sarah is from Lincoln, Nebraska and moved to San Francisco in 2005. She attended the Academy of Art University and holds a BFA in Photography. She has been walking dogs and caring for pets for 5 years and started Running With The Pack in Spring 2012. Sarah has two Taiwanese Mountain Dogs that accompany her on all her adventures.

Sarah has been a dog fanatic since she was a child. Now she lives her childhood dream of being with dogs every day. When she’s not walking dogs, you will find her taking photos of dogs.

Sarah is the best! At noon every day Hugo leaves my side to wait impatiently by the front window for his «second mommy» to pick him up. Hugo comes back tired every day. Sarah is super dependable and a great communicator. She also boards dogs while the owners are away. We couldn’t survive without her.

If there was an «off the charts» rating available, I would award it to Running with the Pack. We have been with Sarah since our 3 ½ years old pup was 9 months old. Sarah is everything you want in a dogwalker: conscientious, organised, a great communicator with both dogs and humans – really important for me as I want to know if there are problems or concerns. Sarah is honest, reliable, and so in love with her wards that they can’t wait for her to show up. We have worked hard to teach our dog good manners and Sarah has only improved our efforts. She is playful with individual dogs and conducts the behaviour of the pack like a true pro. She’s conscientious and professional with her dogs in public and has a great reputation. I feel really fortunate to have her take care of our dog and am truly happy to know her. She’s all round awesome at her job. And our pup returns every day and immediately falls into bed, happy and exhausted.

I want to freshen up my review for Running with the Pack, as it’s been 2.5 years since my last review and our pup is still a very satisfied pack member. Sarah continues to be amazing with our pooch. He gets to stretch his legs, enjoy fresh air, learns to pose for pictures, socializes with other dogs, etc. And Sarah is super reliable. For example, if she has plans to be out of town, she tells you months in advance and finds a replacement walker (and gives you the choice of going with her or not) who she introduces to all the pooches ahead of time so they feel comfortable. She has never missed a day. She also reminds families when it is foxtail season and is very careful to keep the dogs away from it (as much is reasonably possible) and checks them for it (and reminds us to check, too). Sarah is also a great photographer so we get great snaps of our pooch with all his friends on scenic Bernal Hill. Sarah is also just the nicest, most awesome person to have in our lives and we are so happy to be longstanding members of RWTP.

Sarah is truly as good as it gets, and this is coming from another dog sitter/​walker/​general butt scratcher. I have seen Sarah and her group almost everyday for the past two years and they couldn’t be happier, it’s clear they love her and she loves them back.
Your dog would be too lucky to have the chance to romp at the park with Sarah.

We have now been with Sarah for close to a year, and couldn’t be happier! Our little one loves her time out exploring and has such a great time with the other pack dogs.
Sarah takes the time to find multiples places for the dogs to explore, so they never get bored, and she is great about posting pics and videos from the walks on FB, so I feel like I can keep up with what’s going on that day.
I really like that the dogs are able to run and explore, and I really appreciate how involved she is with all the animals. It really shows how much she loves them, and enjoys her work!
If you have a little dog I recommend running with the pack for daily walks, or overnights!

Sarah is fabulous. Rufus (his photo by Sarah is on the Pack page of her website) was the shyest dog at Pets Unlimited shelter. I think Sarah had to root him out from behind the couch on her first visit.
Now Rufus is frequent flyer and co-​pilot. Sarah has stayed overnight in our home, taken the spoiled boy to Napa, and is Rufus’ most special other adult. I really notice that his social skills with other dogs improve after Sarah’s outings.
Sarah really loves ‘em all. And we love her back…

I literally don’t know what I would do without Sarah. She takes amazing care of my two American Eskimos, Milo and Sophie. For those of you unfamiliar with the breed, they are an energetic handful. Sarah has been taking them out on amazing pack adventures for the past year, and M+S absolutely love her! I work from home sometimes, and they both bark and wag their tails in anticipation when she comes to pick them up. She sometimes walks Bernal Hill on the weekends. When we run into her, my dogs almost forget that I’m there. Although this makes me feel a little sad, it also makes me happy to know they have truly bonded with her. In addition to being kind, personable, and dependable, she’s come to the rescue for me many times. My boyfriend was in a pretty bad motorcycle accident in Willows and was airlifted to the hospital in Chico. Sarah came to pick them up with no notice as I had to stay with him overnight in the hospital. I don’t know what I would have done without her help. She’s a great dogwalker and a wonderful person. We’re so lucky to be part of her pack. :)

About 2 years ago my wife and I adopted a combo weiner/​jack Russell named Oscar. While a super sweet dog, he is very hyper and requires quite a bit of walking/​running. He really loves to fetch tennis balls and just run around like crazy! As much as we tried, we could not give him the exercise he needed. Then we saw a flyer for Running with the Pack and now things have completely changed! Oscar goes out 3 times a week with other small energetic dogs and Sarah brings him home happy and tired. In addition, it has really helped Oscar socialize with other dogs. Running with the Pack is the perfect way to get your small dog out and about and we highly recommend Sarah!

Sarah is a fabulous dog walker. She really understands my little dog Zoe. Zoe has a better life than I do – she takes field trips Monday through Friday to places like the beach and the Presidio Trails while I toil away in an office. My dog is so much happier being able to run around with a group of «her people» as opposed to being cooped up in an apartment all day long.
Sarah has also taken care of Zoe when I have had to go out of town numerous times. I never worry because Sarah takes such excellent care of her. Five barks for Sarah and Running With the Pack!

Sarah is the dog whisperer of San Francisco. I have a 7 year old Jack Russell Terrier who has separation anxiety. Sarah has taken him over night and now walks him in her day group with ‘the pack.’ He has such a great time with the other dogs, loves going to Bernal Hill and any other park, especially when there is water so he can swim. She is responsible, reliable and trustworthy. I feel so lucky to have found Sarah and I know Jax feels the same way!
Almost 3 years later, Sarah continues to walk Jax along with his new brother, Rufus. She is extremely patient with both dogs and She made sure to give Rufus extra attention as a new pack member so that he would feel comfortable. It is obvious that both dogs love their Sarah-​thank you RWTP!

I am so lucky to have Sarah as my dog walker. She is dependable, hardworking and compassionate about her job. I have two Daschunds that she walks 5 days a week, and when I say walks I mean field trips! Field trips to Crissy Field where the dogs (usually a group of 5 – 8) get to run off leash and chase balls into the water, or some days the dogs go hiking though the Presidio! The time that I pay Sarah for is 1 hour per day, but she almost always spends extra time with them!
Sarah is a photographer as well, specializing in pet portraits of course. She loves to keep us in the loop by posting pictures and videos to Facebook every week! When I come home everyday there is a dog log of what time she came and dropped off as well as where they went and any notes on behavior. I recommend Sarah to any pet owner in SF looking for a flawless and rewarding experience. Thanks Sarah!

I am very fussy about whom I leave my dogs with. Sarah was recommended to me by a friend I trust. When my two dogs, Henry and Moonie, met her I could tell immediately that she had a sweet, compassionate nature. I could also tell she really connected with the critters. I felt they were in good hands when I went away for 2 ½ weeks. During the time I was away, Sarah texted me every couple of days with updates as to how Henry and Moonie were doing along with snapshots of the dogs frolicking. I missed my dogs terribly and those texts were very important to me. I knew they were in good hands. When I came home the dogs were very happy to see me but a little sad to leave her. I can’t give her a higher recommendation. I will use her anytime I go away.
Sarah is also a professional photographer. And she is really good. I engaged her to photograph Henry and Moonie and I gave her some general parameters of what I wanted. When I saw the photos all I could say was «WOW!» She does amazing work! She captured the very essence of my dogs and I am so grateful. It was worth every penny it cost. Again, I can’t recommend her any higher.
