Keith is the best bartender! So attentive and interactive. Also very easy on the eyes. ;)

Cozy location, pretty loud so you have to shout to socialize! There’s only one bathroom for each gender so occasionally the lines are super long. I like how you can get water on your own with the dispenser. It’s on the side of the bar deep inside. I can’t speak much for the drinks since I was DD, but my friends seemed to enjoy them.

My husband and I went in on a fluke… I ordered my usual, Grey Goose with orange and cranberry juice. I wasn’t expecting anything special. But this drink was amazing. Atmosphere is cool and easy. Had a great time

I’m sitting in Rx now, enjoying a cocktail solo while the afternoon glow makes everything look magical outside. There’s only one group here other than myself. The bartender is singing to an amazing stream of alt-rock tunes and this $ 5 happy hour Fernet tastes all the more sublime. I think this may be my favorite bar in the city. As the song sings, home is wherever I’m with you.

The martini I ordered tasted like shit. When other bars across the street on Geary were packed, this place was pretty empty minus an old guy and his old blonde chick smacking on each other and a few other castoffs at the bar… No plans to come back.

Terrible cocktails, both drinks I ordered(the bee and dantes) were overly sweet and the flavor pairings were plain bad.

Fancy a strong yet delicious cocktail? Rx will hit the spot! We came here on a whim because we were waiting for dinner at Elephant Sushi and decided to grab a drink here first. It has that dark mysterious feel of a cool bar but doesn’t seem intimidating at all. The bartender was super friendly and we went by her recommendations. Was really pleasantly surprised by the flavors of the drinks! I forgot the name of my drink but I recall we also ordered the BARTELL(Cynar Amaro, Rye Whiskey, Sweet Vermouth, St. George NoLa Coffee) — delicious! Drinks vary — $ 11-$ 13. They also have a decent selection of beer on tap and wines by the glass. Overall — a solid spot that I would easily revisit again for a well-crafted cocktail, a glass of wine, or a beer!

This place is what the doctor orders if you’re in need for strong drinks. You can definitely taste the alcohol in the cocktail. I’m always interested in bars with a good theme and Rx provides me what a little something extra from the unique theme. They also don’t skimp on the liquor. Try one of their own cocktails or get a classic drink. Even if you get something simple like a vodka 7-up, you’re going to taste more of the vodka than the 7-up. That’s the unique part of this bar. It is a bit dark there and it was fairly dead when we arrived. They have large comfy sofas and you can chill with your friends sipping on strong liquor. It is the place that you’ll doctor can subscribe when you’re feeling like you need a night out after a long week of work.

«Is there a doctor in the house?!» I’ve always wanted to say that at a bar. At Rx, it’s totally appropriate. You come here to cure what ails you. Long work week? family members that grate on your very last nerve? fake people who put on an even more fake smile and pretend like all is ok when it’s not? #AMIRITE Go for the dark stuff here. This was stop #3 on our bar crawl and Peter L warned me to choose carefully since the cocktails here are very strong. I scanned the well thought of selection of painkillers and decided on the Dante’s. Fernet, gin and French asunder results into a bold, spirit forward drink that lingers on the palette. You’d order this drink on those cold SF nights, which we’ve been having a lot lately. The space is loungey and the best area to hold a large group is right by the door, next to the window. You can sip your cocktail whilst occasionally looking at the crazies that walk by. Free entertainment! Thanks for the cure all Rx.

Situation — Friday the 13th evening drinks(Nov 2015) Pros — The bartender was very friendly and helpful with the drinks selections — Delicious cocktails — Decent happy hour Cons — It was kind of empty(it made it easier to order, so it wasn’t too bad)

I went here twice while visiting SF. The first night we had an amazing bartender. We ordered off the menu. He basically asked us what we liked and made up a custom drink for us. Super friendly and personable and the service was great for our large group. The second night we came in there was only one bartender and he was kinda struggling to serve everyone. We ordered drinks off the menu this time. We were at one end of the bar and he made us all get up and come get it on the other side(not sure why he couldn’t bring it).

I visited Rx twice while visiting San Francisco for the a clinical Pharmacy conference(it was just fitting right?). The first time we went was Saturday night, the bar tender was absolutely amazing! He really is a mixology genius ! I wish I remembered his name. He gave me and the girls the special treatment by making us some specialty drinks. He simply asked us what kind of liqour we wanted and whether we would like it to be forward or refreshing. We have him the freedom to come up with his own mix and these drinks were absolutely amazing. The saddest part of this experience is that I won’t ever be able to mimic the drinks he made because they were so complex, although he told us the ingredients. We returned on Tuesday night to have a drink and hoped it’d be the same bartender. This gentlemen seemed a little overwhelmed because he was the only one working.

We came here on a Saturday night. They were under-staffed(only one bartender serving around 10 people). This bar knows how to make old-fashioned and whiskey sours. Area is somewhat ghetto but once you’re inside the bar, all is okay.

Stop in for a cocktail, leave feeling incredibly spirited. I love Natoma Cabana and House of Shields, so it’s no wonder that Rx garners high marks from this booze hound. The former Trocadero Club has been revamped into a new(ish) bar, perfect for before or after dinner dranks. Especially accommodating bartender who put together a version of my favorite«grown as woman» cocktail: The Golden Spike. A little Scotch, a splash of apricot liqueur, some Luxardo cherries… Strong, but tasty. Be careful, these beverages are strong. Like, almost fall off your bar stool strong. Or, in my case, come home and harass your significant other while they try to sleep. Normal stuff in your 30’s. Will be back for another dirty martini, promise.

Favorite new bar addition: friendly bar tender, excellent mixology serving up reasonably priced boozy herbal cocktails, dark brooding atmosphere with comfy chairs… and no line?!(For now…). Favorites: Stanley’s, Whiskey Ginger(nice and foamy) Meh: Merill’s(sounded good, too sweet)

I randomly ended up here after dinner nearby on Friday, April 10th around 10pm. I didn’t realize until I got inside that this was formerly Trocadero. I attended my first Unilocal Elite event at Trocadero, so I have fond memories of the place. The space hasn’t change much really, but they now have a fun cocktail menu. Like their namesake, I believe their cocktails are a play on medicine. I only took a sip of a friend’s cocktail, so I can’t say much about their drinks. But I really liked the vibe of this place. It was very chill for a Friday night. We all easily grabbed seats at the bar and at one of their tables along the wall. I know I sound old saying this, but I love places that are low key and not too crowded. I really do need to come back and try some of their drinks. Come to think of it, I haven’t been feeling really well lately. Maybe I just need some«medicine». Hehe!

Why more people haven’t discovered Rx, I don’t know. Not that I’m complaining, since we were able to stroll right up to the bar. A freshly renovated space with a relaxed vibe, friendly barman, delicious cocktails at just $ 10 a pop, and kitty corner from late night eats at Osha? What’s not to like? Well, except for the fact that it’s in the TL, perhaps… Taking over the old Trocadero space, Rx’s concept is a play on the old fashioned corner pharmacy. There are a handful of beers on tap, as well as the typical array of liquors, but their menu/specialty primarily revolves around their wide selection of amaros(herbal liqueur) and medicinal alcohol cocktails(or «elixirs»). It’s somewhat similar to the speakeasy’s popping up across SF, yet still unique in its own way. From their list of specialties, I ordered the OWL, made up of Fernet, Gin, Pineapple Gum Syrup, Orange Juice, Lemon Juice, and Egg Whites. It’s fitting that it’s listed under«Stress Relievers» on the menu, as I found it to be easy to drink. Despite how it sounds, the drink is more mellow than fruity. While you can certainly taste the orange and lemon, it has a mild licorice tinge from the fernet and a sort of menthol/peppermint finish(not as in menthol cigarette). Very balanced. As for their other cocktails, I also tried my friends’ Rexall and Hot Dram cocktails. I personally liked my drink better, but I thought both were pretty good. Of the two, the former was better than the latter. The Rexall had a spicy bite to it, thanks to the chili tincture, while the Hot Dram was highly reminiscent of a Hot Toddy(warm brandy, honey, lemon) Unlike some of the more popular spots nearby, I loved how the place wasn’t packed to the gills. The crowd is more steady than chaotic and between all of the bar stools, couches, and the half dozen or so «booths», there’s plenty of space for people to spread out. For those scattered occasions I’m in the TL for drinks, Rx will definitely be at the top of my list!

I swear every time I come back home something has changed. Case in point, Rx. If you’ve lived here long enough you may remember the absolute hell hole known as RJs. Outside of having great initials(I’m clearly biased), it was probably the shadiest bar in SF history. There was a snazzy cocktail bar in between that I never had a chance to go to, and now the latest incarnation is Rx. It’s got a lot of the same features bars of this ilk possess. Elevated cocktails, fresh mixers, et al. It’s a beautiful lil’ space and so far, the drinks are spot on. Even if you don’t have to use the bathroom you should mosey in. It’s a no touch system and around these parts, the fewer things you touch the better! Try the Dante. It’s awesome! Being an Amaro themed program, you’ll dig it if it’s your vibe.
