Love Dr. Siu. Been seeing him for 7 – 8 years. I do miss Melissa the previous dental hygienist. The new hygienist is friendly but does not do a good job of cleaning. She did not clean my implant tooth because she told me that the instrument was not available to clean implant at that time. And she did not scrape and clean like my other teeth like Melissa did. Hopefully, we may see a new hygienist at my next cleaning. But, otherwise, I love Dr. Siu and his team.

I am officially done with Invisalign and so in love with my new smile. I had such bad crooked teeth to where I would always smile with my mouth closed. With the amazing help of Dr. Siu I have a smile that I’m so proud of he is not only a great general dentist but so talented in cosmetic dentistry he is definitely a dentist who pays attention to detail And a perfectionist. I highly recommend this office if you want the best and high quality work done. I LOVE MY NEW SMILE THANK YOU DR. SIU!!!

Dr. Sui and his team are amazing!!! They do an amazing job checking in and making sure you are comfortable through your entire appointment. Dr. Sui ALWAYS pays extreme attention to detail and makes sure to explain step by step what will be happening during any procedure. The best dentist experience I have ever had. I highly recommend Dr. Sui’s office for any dental work.

I’m stepping out of the shadows to write my second-​ever Unilocal review in over 6+ years of using the service. I really only feel compelled to write reviews for places that have completely blown me away, and Dr. Siu’s dental practice has done just that.
Both appointments I’ve had (X-​Rays/​Evaluation, and Cleaning) have been absolutely phenomenal. The entire staff is top-​notch. All are very friendly, professional, and efficient. Dr. Siu does a great job communicating the dental condition to the patient.
The teeth cleaning experience in particular really stood out to me. It was by far the best cleaning I’ve had in my entire life! The hygienist was very warm, gentle, and effective. I had such a great experience, I will be recommending Dr. Siu to all of my friends.

I am really sad to write this review after almost 5 years with Dr. Siu, and especially since I really like him personally as well as as a dentist. However, having had issues with billing and customer service after my last two appointments, it’s time I take my teeth elsewhere.
I came in for a cleaning in February, super excited that my dental insurance (Guardian) was now covering 3 cleanings a year. I had told that to my dental assistant during my previous appointment, and she had scheduled the appointment with that knowledge. However, after that appointment, I was sent a bill, and told that it was not scheduled far enough after my previous appointment to qualify. So — great. Now I’m not, in fact, getting 3 cleanings covered this year, which is a mistake that could have been prevented. Not a huge deal, but unfortunately had to pay about $ 150 out of pocket.
Then, I came in for another cleaning this past summer, and have received a bill for both a partial cleaning as well as «additional» X-​rays. I have reviewed my dental coverage, and am seeing that 100% preventative care and cleanings are covered under my plan. However, I’m now being told that some of these services were not covered, which I was never told (and had never experienced in my 10+ previous cleanings). I understand that things change, but I really expect to be informed in advance if any services provided will incur an additional cost. Again, not a huge deal, and unfortunately not super expensive, but what really sealed the deal for me is that the woman who gave me a call today gave me a lot of attitude when explaining the coverage. I’ve been a patient for 5 years and had never had any problems with billing in the past, so I really didn’t appreciate the argumentative tone she took with me, when I was just trying to get to the bottom of the issue.
I’ll definitely check with insurance to get more detail before sending in a check, but I’m sad to have to start a search for another dentist in the city.

I’m moving so I just had my last visit with Dr. Siu and wanted to add to the compliments on this page. Dr. Siu did several crowns for me and I feel like he’s very thorough in assessing what’s happening with my teeth and what my options are. Melissa, the hygenist, is just awesome — I didn’t think I needed more education on how to care for my teeth, but she managed to provide some great advice. The staff is nice. Altogether, it’s always a very pleasant experience to go to the office.

I’ve been going to Dr. Stanley Siu since 2011. I can’t remember my first appointment, but I definitely remember when I needed to have all my dental work completed by the end of the year, as I was losing my dental insurance. The staff at Dr. Siu’s office were able to schedule me an appointment to have my fillings replaced and two more added.
Every visit since then has been wonderful. Well as wonderful as a dentist appointment can be. I don’t deal greatly with pain, but everyone there always makes sure I’m comfortable. Especially their wonderful hygienist Melissa. Melissa always «keeps it real» with me and is never judgmental when I don’t answer the question of have I been flossing. (Which usually means no!) She does give wonderful tips on how to floss properly and why it must be done. (I swear I’m going to do it! LOL) At the end of my cleanings, Dr. Siu always comes over to do my oral cancer screening and to check in with me. He asks about my at home cupcake business and my full time job, making me feel as I’m a patient that matters.
I no longer work in San Francisco, but the customer service and the excellence in care are reason enough for me to take Bart without any hesitation to see Dr. Siu and his crew.

Regarding Stan’s comment on my Unilocal review.
Classic response by an aloof Stan, living in his imaginative world of magical, «world-​class» service, while ignoring his errors and malpractice. Not confessing the problem, not addressing measures to correct the problem, and being defiant in not apologizing for the mistake. When you encounter a problem from this clinic, this is what you will come to expect.
Stan does not meet anyone’s dental needs by maintaining expired lidocaine and injecting them with it. He does not treat patients like family when he drops them from his clinic for exposing his malpractice. His service is not «world-​class» when his patients are injected with expired drug and are baselessly accused of insurance fraud. His poor judgments and responses regarding this embarrassment reveal that any public comments claiming his sense of well wishes is insincere, dishonest, and false.
Flee from this clinic.

Dr. Siu and his staff are absolutely phenomenal. The lovely front desk duo who always greet me with a smile and a bubbly uplifting energy almost make all my fears of needing a root canal disappear… almost, because that’s some scary stuff! The dental hygienists and assistants are excellent! They manage to make me feel comfortable and keep me well informed about my oral health. Then there’s Dr. Siu who is very professional, informative, and precise and always finds time to hold light conversation and shows genuine interest in our little chats.
Over all I give Dr. Siu and his lovely staff a huge hug and 5 stars. If you are ever in need of quality dental care, trust me! Look no further. This place rocks!

Dr. Siu has been able to help me a lot with my dental issues. As a precocious teenager, I had managed to knock out my two front teeth during an overly-​enthusiastic handball play in P.E. Many dental procedures later (including braces), and one of my front teeth is totally failing.
Enter Dr. Siu’s office. His staff have been more than accommodating with me, adjusting appointment dates and listing out all of my options in terms of procedures that needed to be done in order to maintain the health of my teeth. I’m currently going through Invisalign with their office and, while I’m only a week in, it’s been going pretty swimmingly, considering the fact that I also had to throw in a front tooth extraction and stem cell bone graft surgery on top of that. Oh, and the fact that my upper Invisalign trays will all have a fake front tooth filled in since I’ll be without one for the next year and a half. Hooray for complicated dental procedures!
But seriously, Dr. Siu and his staff have been instrumental in recommending a surgeon and practice to help me with the surgical procedures, communicating between the offices in order to coordinate my implant surgery (the ultimate goal of the Invisalign, extraction and bone graft), and the front desk staff have been angels in disguise, helping me figure out my insurance and payment plans that would make it so that I could afford everything.
Honestly, my only issue would be that appointments tend to run over the time estimates that they give me, but that’s a minor problem (this is why I moved my healthcare out to the city when I started working out here — less PTO used). Considering the last appointment running over was my fault (I ran about 10 minutes late), I guess I don’t have too much room to complain!
Thanks everyone at Dr. Siu’s! I may be just starting out on this path, but I feel that I am well-​prepared for my trip towards having the smile that I want.

Dr. Siu is the definition of professional. He is also a perfectionist in his work and in a caring way. After 4+ years of going to Dr. Siu I always feel I’m in good hands. When I initially walked in back in 2009 I had a lot of issues to deal with and we dealt with them one by one. He always laid out my options and made recommendations.
Him and his staff work well together. Sometimes Doctors/​Dentists aren’t on the same page as their staff and it can lead to costly miscommunication with patients. This was never an issue and I was always impressed with how seamless the process was in terms of referrals/​payments.
From cleanings to cavities to Invisalign it’s always a pleasure working with Dr. Siu and his staff.

If you are contemplating veneers and you want to know what kind of results you can expect from Dr. Siu, then this review was written for you.
I chose to professionalize my smile to accelerate my career in sales.
Here’s my story …
In my early college days, I was having a bit more fun that I should have been and I fell chipping several of the teeth on the left side of my mouth. Over a space of years, night-​time grinding and use wore those teeth down and left me with a lopsided, socially awkward smile.
When I approached Dr. Siu about veneers, I knew that the project would be extremely difficult one. Stan wouldn’t simply be adding veneers to my teeth, he would be recreating my bite from scratch.
In addition, I wanted to be able to reverse the process and have the option to remove all the veneers if I didn’t like the results. So, I told Stan that he could only remove a very minimal amount of my original tooth structure.
Dr. Siu agreed to do the procedure and we settled on a very fair price.
The results have been nothing short of amazing. I spent many years trying not to smile and now I smile with confidence.
My girlfriend tells me she misses kissing «a Ferengi» though with a grin that tells me I made the right choice.
You can put your full trust behind Dr. Siu. He goes the extra mile to make sure you are 100% satisfied with the results.

I’ve been going to Dr Siu for several years now. I actually started seeing him after his predecessor, Dr Kussman retired. I have been pleasantly surprised by Dr. Siu’s practice for several reasons:
1) He uses more technology-​based equipment. I felt that it was definitely an upgrade from the old-​school practice of Dr. Kussman and I feel that he’s up-​to-​date with modern technology.
2) I have a great hygienist, LInda She’s really nice and keeps the conversation easy and light while she does my teeth cleaning. The only thing that’s tough is that she’s only there on Wednesdays.
3) They always have a nice goodie bag (toothbrush/​floss) when I leave. It’s perfect since it keeps me stocked when I’m at work.
The location is pretty convenient and is in the heart of the Fi-​Di.

I started going to this dental practice nearly five years ago, shortly after I moved to SF. At that time, the practice was owned by an outstanding dentist named Roger Kussman. When Dr. Kussman retired and turned over his practice to Dr. Siu, I stayed on, confident that Dr. Kussman would choose a highly competent dentist to take care of his patients. I was right.
I think you know you have a good dentist when a visit to the office is actually a pleasant experience. This is the case with Dr. Siu’s practice. I’ve always felt very comfortable there. Not only is his staff routinely kind and professional, but the office space itself is sunny, clean, and modern. I definitely get the sense that Dr. Siu makes an effort to ensure that his office is equipped with up-​to-​date tools and technology, which I appreciate.
As for the hygienists, I visited the office recently for a cleaning and was extremely impressed by Dr. Alkordy, who performed my cleaning. She worked painstakingly on my teeth for nearly an hour. I can’t remember the last time my teeth felt so clean! I walked out vowing to myself to commit to a more intensive brushing-​and-​flossing routine in order to preserve my newly sparkling smile. (Not sure how long that will last, but the important thing is that I was inspired to give it my best shot!)
On to Dr. Siu. I’ve never met a dentist who makes such an effort to help his patients feel comfortable and fully understand the details of their dental care. When I had concerns about gum recession I started having several years ago, Dr. Siu not only talked through all of the options with me, but also went on to email me a whole bunch of information on the topic. In general, I find that he is relatively conservative in his approach to treating dental issues — meaning he’s not going to give you fillings that you don’t really need. And that I truly appreciate. Finally, as a person, Dr. Siu is thoroughly warm and kind. I’m always impressed by the time he takes to ask about how I’m doing and how well he remembers things we talked about on my last visit.
Recently my boyfriend convinced me to try his dentist, whom he loves and whose office is much closer to my home than Dr. Siu’s. I tried this practice and found they didn’t compare to the quality of Dr. Siu’s practice, so I just switched back to Dr. Siu. What better recommendation could there be? Thanks, Dr. Siu and staff, for taking such good care of me!

I came to Dr Siu, in need of extractions, crown replacements and a good plan for rebuilding what was missing.
So far, I am quite satisfied.
The in office extractions were done without complications. This was a relief not only from a personal comfort point of view (#1 for me), but also helped my recovery time. A previous dentist suggested I do «Surgical» extractions. This would have been much more expensive and may have been harder on me. I am so glad I had Stanley do it in house.
I look forward to finishing my other procedures, and starting a regular ongoing care plan.

I had a horrible experience with Dr. Siu — probably the worst experience I’ve ever had with any doctor, dentist, or medical or service professional of any sort. The short story — I needed to replace a Maryland Bridge. After approx. six months of back and forth and three failed attempts to replace my bridge, I’m left with a tooth that is not at all what I wanted, with a smile that I really dislike. Anyone getting bridge work should read this review. Dr. Siu might be great for some things, but I would recommend finding another dentist if you need any work that needs to be outsourced to a lab.
For the longer story…
I have two Maryland bridges that are about 16 years old. They’ve held up very well over the years, but one of them finally gave out. There was no repairing it, so I needed a new bridge. Dr. Siu said that he could do a new Maryland bridge, if that’s what I wanted.
The reason I’m writing this review — I had not one problem in the six or so months I spent trying to get my new bridge, but SEVERAL problems that all made for a totally horrible experience. Here are the primary problems, summed up:
In a prep meeting before they made my bridge, I sat in the chair for about two hours for an appointment that should have taken a half hour. They have this great computer program that does a 3D image of your mouth (used in the same way a traditional mold would be used). Unfortunately, they were having technical issues, so I sat in the chair like a guinea pig while they consulted with tech support and re-​did the scan multiple times while on the phone with IT. It was miserable, and I was just getting started with the whole process!
While the new bridge was being made, I was supposed to have a temporary tooth. Dr. Siu and his staff neglected to mention, however that this temporary tooth was actually in the form of a big plastic retainer that looks like a mouthguard, and had to be removed when eating, created a lisp, etc. It’s possible that this was the only option, but someone should have explained to me that that I was expected to wear a thick, plastic retainer for a month. It was a total shock.
The first new bridge that Dr. Siu presented to me was absolutely horrible… almost comical. The tooth looked nothing like the old tooth, had no symmetry with the tooth on the other side. It was short — like a tiny baby tooth in a mouth full of adult teeth. It almost looked like a kernel of baby corn floating around in my mouth. I’m not exaggerating. It was visibly very, very bad. He agreed to re– work the tooth. I was very specific about what I didn’t like.
The second new bridge that Dr. Siu presented was even worse than the first. Not only was the tooth still too small, it didn’t even seem to fit my the space between the adjacent teeth. I told him I was throwing in the towel and finding a new dentist.
Dr. Siu called me personally and emailed to apologize for how terrible the experience had been, and said that he would pull out all of the stops, send my work the the best lab in San Francisco, all free of charge if I were to give him another chance. I agreed. Bad choice. The third and final attempt was slightly better than the first two, but still not nearly as good as my original tooth. The new tooth is visibly shorter than the old tooth, shorter than the opposite tooth it should match in my mouth. The lab even called me personally this time and asked what I wanted. At the end of the call, they said «so you want it to look just like the old tooth?» Yes. Exactly. I have no idea how it still ended up too short. Dr. Siu didn’t explain that to me either. If you can’t make a tooth that is the height of the old tooth, at least you should be able to explain why? So, I have no clue. All I know, is I’m back where I started, with a too-​short tooth. I asked him to cement the tooth in, even though I really dislike it. Just cement it in with the permanent stuff so that I have time to start the search for a new dentist.
The best part? In his pulling out all the stops on the third attempt… a day or two before my scheduled appointment, he called me and said that the new bridge wasn’t ready, and that I would have to wait a little longer. They would call me when it was ready. OK, fine by me. What’s a couple of days, or a week at most, as long as they get it right this time? Two weeks later, I hadn’t heard anything, decided to check in, and they told me it had been ready for awhile. Really? Are you kidding? You didn’t even bother to call to let me know???
OK, so that’s not even the best part. The VERY best part? The bridge fell out today. After only a couple of months. LOL. Everything that could go wrong… did go wrong. I’m just glad it’s over.

I had been goinig to Dr. Kussman before Dr. Siu took over his patients when he retired. Needless to say, I was less than pleased with Siu took over. Typical young dentist, not very interested in what the patient really needs … too busy pushing his over priced technology and procedures that aren’t necessary at that moment.
I’m back seeing a dentist in the East Bay and have been MUCH happier in my last three visits to the dentist.

Consistent five star reviews can do you NO WRONG.

He’s patient, kind and actually cares about what you’re saying. Guides you throughout the whole process of whatever he’s doing and explains the reasons why he is doing it in the first place. Checks everything aspect of your «ORAL HEALTH» (hehehe) — very thorough from your gums, to your teeth, to your jaw muscles. he even caught that my right bite was a bit off and also the SMALLEST cavity ever.
I recommend him to ANYONE. Love this guy. And a plus that it’s 2 blocks away from my office!

Best tooth care ever

I had a cleaning, fillings, tooth inlay, and two wisdom teeth extraction recently been performed by Dr. Siu and staff. I highly recommend their competent and caring service.
I always feel that I received the best procedure. The inlay was very good, the tooth extraction was a breeze and I was guided and followed up for post operation condition. It’s healing well now.
