Disclaimer: This is an update of an event I’ve attended many times, but since the moderators at Unilocal have refused to update the name of the party, its venue and its website for the past several years I’ve created a new entry with the corrected info. Wow! The 2012 San Francisco Magazine Best of the Bay Area Party was another affair to remember. Held annually at the beautiful City View at Metreon venue this major fundraiser for Family House had it all. Simply put … we came, we indulged and we devoured. Of course, no review of mine can ever be that simple so let me take you on a photographic journey starting with The Food!(Please note: To save character space you’ll have to look at the photo to see who the vendor is.) The sweet peaches paired very well with the fresh fish on the Yellowtail Crudo( ). The smoked salmon and caviar served on a potato chip( ) was simply genius! Tacu Tacu( ). Cute name! Spectacular mouthful! Tomato braised veal and pork meatballs( ). You know I could have easily devoured several dozen of these. Bite sized steak and fingerling potatoes( ) cooked to a perfect medium rare! Nice and meaty braised short rib( ). Beef Tongue Carpaccio( )? Oh my! These guys brought their meat game( ) and were the most popular restaurant of the night. For those of us who subscribed to the VIP Lounge this memorable salad( ) had me going back for more. Smoked Hawaiian tuna with a seaweed salad( ) was a nice hidden secret tucked away in one corner of the VIP Lounge. Now let’s take a look at some of the Desserts! My heart nearly stopped when I saw this amazing array of delicious treats( ). I would come back for dessert and lots of it! Cookies from one of my favorite San Francisco businesses( ). Peach ale preserves and brown sugar on a multi grain cookie( ). Bite sized crepes( ) all warm and chewy. Panna Cotta( ) so amazing with the zesty lemon cream. Of course there were drinks as well, but all foodied out I found very little space in me to put away more than the one red wine and two Don Julio tequila cocktails that I had. Strong drinks! Luckily for me somebody else was driving! Entertainment-wise, I had never heard of Midi Matilda( ), but their high energy music had party goers shaking the dance floor and metal heads like me bobbing to nice guitar and drum solos. Yes, this continues to be a favorite party of mine, and I will be back!
