Save My Seat is a custom upholstery shop in the Inner Richmond of San Francisco. Lauren Siegel is the saver of seats, and helps you choose fabrics and materials to restore each piece of furniture to the highest quality. Lauren is committed to her clients’ vision to create pieces that they will love for years to come.

If your piece needs new paint, wood restoration, or to be fabricated from scratch, Lauren has developed a community with local builders, textile designers, and finishers to assist in any of your needs. Her eye for composition and an innate understanding of her clients aesthetic are her particular abilities she brings to each project.

Business Owner

Lauren Siegel began pursuing her passion for furniture with an apprenticeship at Retrospect Custom Upholstery and afterward completed an upholstery class at San Francisco’s Community College and Advanced Upholstery in Charlotte, North Carolina. Born and raised in historic Pasadena, Lauren discovered her love of furniture while walking the Rosebowl Swapmeet each month with her parents and touring numerous historic homes in the area. She has traveled extensively throughout South America, Europe and the United States and has a collection of fabrics, tiles, and artwork from the many places she’s visited.

Lauren graduated from Indiana University with a degree in public policy, and prior to saving furniture, she spent twelve years working to save the environment. In 2010, she received a Certificate in Energy Management and passed the LEED AP exam for New Buildings. Lauren’s passion for conscious solutions has led to partnerships with local artisans and a commitment to sourcing material

I think it’s really bad for business when you have to call several times to get an estimate after sending an email of your couch. Lauren stated she would give me an estimate by the end of the day but never did. Not sure why they don’t want to help us reupholster our love seat, but it’s unfortunate since the other reviews of the business are so good. Hoping they don’t lead other customers on in the future.

Lauren was the only reupholstery that didn’t require me to bring my sofa all the way to the shop. She knew that we only needed to do seat and back cushions. Saved me a lot of headache and money. She did a great job and at a great price. I would highly recommend her.

I have found my new spot for any kind of upholstery or pillow work! I had one yard of very expensive embroidered fabric that I wanted to use to make throw pillows for my sofa. Lauren and her team did a great job with the pillows, and were even able to get one more from the single yard because they didn’t want to waste any of the beautiful fabric!
She did the work quickly and for a reasonable price.

We don’t live in SF but are here frequently and have a small place here. We were referred to Lauren by a trusted colleague and boy is she one to be trusted! Lauren patiently worked within our schedule and budget to create an amazing work product. She is absolutely committed to her work and her team and it shows. It’s so nice to «go direct» without all the hassle and politics of a decorator… anyway, Save My Seat is a real asset to SF, as is Lauren’s dog, Pilot! (grin) By the way, how often can you get a chance to thank the people who actually did your work — another benefit of Lauren’s «system.»

Lauren is amazing. I had a 10 year old armchair that I loved. Lauren was kind enough to do a quote for me based on a photo. Realistically it was almost as much as replacing the chair, but I couldn’t find a chair I liked nearly as well. When I came to pick out the fabric, I selected a fabric which was more expensive than the average cost she had quoted. She was extremely fair on the price adjustment. I love her story about how she started her business (she’s an environmental scientist by background). The chair itself is BEAUTIFUL. If you need your favorite furniture redone, this is the place to go. Thanks, Lauren!

What can I say about Lauren except she is nothing short of an artist. I had 2 stools from the 1970s and 4 dining chairs from the 20’s that needed some serious TLC in addition to reupholstering. Lauren was price competitive with other upholsterers, but in terms of professionalism, artistry, love for the pieces you bring in, marketing savvy (take a look at her website!), and just plain loveliness, she’s literally the top of her field. I am thrilled beyond with the work that she did, and cannot wait to find more things to upholster so that I can visit her. I would not hesitate to recommend her for the biggest, most complicated, delicate or simplest project.

I love shopping local, and Lauren’s studio is a terrific addition to the neighborhood.
I had a boring pillow (matching fabric) on an upholstered chair. Brought in the boring pillow and a yard of silk I scored for $ 7 at Discount Fabrics, just down Clement. Lauren talked about the project with me, and warned me that while she would try to make welting cord from the widest color of the striped fabric, she couldn’t run it on the bias and couldn’t guarantee it would work. It did. She slightly modified the size of the pillow to make better use of the striped pattern. The new size works so much better. She was quick, and the whole project was only $ 30! It was $ 10 cheaper than a pillow I asked my dry cleaner to make. Send her pics of the colors, textures and fabrics of the room you are improving, and she’ll have great advice.

Lauren is a highly skilled upholsterer with a great sense of style. She intuitively knows what fabric will be perfect for your furniture and her craftsmanship is top-​notch. In addition to reupholstery and custom cushions, she can also diagnose and fix most structural issues. We had a huge mid-​century couch with really saggy cushions and some broken springs, making it really uncomfortable and annoying. After Lauren fixed the springs and replaced the foam cushions with new ones, our couch was SO much more comfortable! So don’t give up on the furniture you love, bring it to Save My Seat!

Lauren did a great job on our chair!
My wife found this chair, when she was leaving college. It was abandoned! And for good reason! The material was a shade of puke green and the springs bore into your back when you were sitting on it.
We found some fabulous suzani fabric on our travels to Turkey, so we hired Lauren to do her work and she didn’t disappoint!
The chair turned out beautifully, and she did an excellent job of getting the piping to match with the seams. She also was able to center the main design on the chair so it looks absolutely fabulous!
I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking to reupholster their furniture!
