Self Storage 1

I had a storage locker here for a year. It was clean and had a lot of surveillance for your peace of mind. The price per month doubled after three months and went up 40 after 6 months.

I have used numerous storage facilities across San Francisco over the last 3 years and this would be the worst one I’d ever used. It’s so shockingly bad that I’ve paid for another move just to move my things out of this storage into a different storage facility.
Key things I’ve encountered that you should be aware of:
— the move took about 3 times longer than to any other storage facilities i’d ever experiences because of a few things:
1. no loading dock for trucks, so you’d have to move everything through a narrow passage way that you’ll share with every single person that comes in and out of the facility
2. there is only one slow elevator for access to all storage units, so you will spend the majority of your move waiting for the elevator
3. storage units are not well placed so you’d be in a maze spending a lot of time trying to get to your storage unit and get out, coupled with the one elevator problem, sometimes you may even have to wait for the elevator to take the first load of people ahead of you before you could get in
4. the most out dated facility i’ve seen so far
5. only has a handful of shockingly heavy, incredibly old trollies. I’d never seen these anywhere else and didn’t know that this could be an issue. I almost cannot push/​pull these as they are incredibly heavy even when empty, and does not maneuver in a straight line.
— incredibly unfriendly manager and questionable staff, i’d never seen a more unfriendly person in the service industry in my experience
— hunters point, hunters point clientele — pricing was better by the embarcadero than here… go figure… don’t do it
— i do not feel safe by myself as a female at this facility
— will increase rates automatically, so you’ll end up paying some of the highest rates i’ve ever paid for storage i’d ever seen, so this storage unit would have been only good if i plan to stay for 2 months max
— if your payment is delayed by a month, they will remove your access and threaten to sell your stuff to auction. I travel a lot and am late to pay when i forget and i’d never received anything like that from any storage facilities, generally incredibly unfriendly, maybe they have to be because of their clientele

Having to store stuff is not always fun, but sometimes a necessity. I’ve used many facilities in the past, but hands down Self Storage 1, San Francisco is the best. Paul runs a tight ship and it shows. When I first met him he was extremely professional and helpful. Over the long stint of my stay he became what I consider to be a friend. If you are looking for a very fair price, stellar service, and nice facilities, look no further.

I only rented a mid size storage unit for about 1 month. I’d just like to comment on their great customer service. The two Hispanic ladies that work the front desk are really nice and professional. I hate I didn’t get their names and identified them by their race. Please don’t get mad at me for that PLEASE. When I closed my unit I was checked out by a really nice guy. He didn’t pressure me to stay and pay for something I didn’t need anymore, but did ask if I could reconsider leaving. I guess that’s the policy, but he was so polite about it. I had a great experience with this place, I really like’d this place and their watchful eyes. When I came in to grab a few things from my unit, I was always greeted with a warm and friendly smile from all of the staff. They even called me right away when I left my unit unlocked while I was in a hurry, within in like a couple hours they noticed that. Wow! Their watching your stuff, I like that. I love my shoe collection and would of been crushed if someone stole them. I was so far away, when they called. I don’t know if this helps but the level of over extended security, and wonderful customer service from the employees who have great people skills. I could not ask for more. Thanks to you all, and if your looking give them a try. They just don’t have a garbage can that sucked. But over all really great. But be prepared for no garbage. I like them and I will use them again if I ever need to.

I’m kinda late on writing this review with moving and all. After spending a ridiculous amount of time trying to find a place to store my stuff and after being mislead by another storage place *cough* public storage *cough*, I finally came across self storage. Thank sweet nine month old infantile Jesus for leading me in Paul’s direction. He was very nice and welcoming. Very professional and made everything seamless and pain free. I love that the place is VERY secure (personal access codes to enter and to leave) which is fantastic. Not anyone can come on the premises which is what sold me. If I ever have to move again and need my things stored I know who to go to :-)

I have rented a storage unit for a couple years now and couldn’t do my job if it wasn’t for the awesome service and staff at Self Storage 1. Paul, Jackie, & Carmen alert me every time I have a delivery or a package delivered by a nice phone call, email or text. They are also available to answer questions. I feel safe in this storage unit with the great security system they have in place. The facility is always clean and organized. I’m so happy I have a storage unit here! Thank you!

I moved from San Francisco and needed somewhere to store everything from my one bedroom apartment until I had somewhere to live. The staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient, and were ready to help answer any questions I had. The spaces are clean, well-​lit and easily accessible. and their rates were very good. I had a very good experience.

I have lived in the area for years and it wasn’t until about almost 3 months ago I had to store my stuff somewhere I thought about Self Storage 1. From the first time I walked in until now, I’ve had nothing but the best customer service from Paul, Carmen, and Jackie. They are all friendly and any question you have they will answer it to their best knowledge. They are all accommodating and will work with you to keep you satisfied. The entire facility is clean, safe, secure, the unit I have is the perfect size, free truck to move your things in, discount for the first 3 months, free candy and pens… I mean I can keep going on. If you’re in the area or going out of the state or country, I would recommend Self Storage 1 the place for you to store your belongings hands down.

If you’re looking for the best storage place in S.F. you’ve found it! Self Storage 1 is super clean, safe, secure and well priced. Jackie, Carmen and Paul are very helpful and courteous.
As for the outside of the property, the grounds are clear of transients and litter. Inside there’s never any debris on the hallway floors and everywhere is well lit. There’s a huge and secure parking lot for loading and unloading with plenty of flatbeds available.
Come check out Self Storage 1 and see how nice this facility is!.. by far nicer than the storage place up the street. Definitely a hidden gem in S.F.

They were so great here! Really great customer service that helped me find the best deal for my situation and they don’t require whole months. You can withdraw whenever! The facilities feel very safe and clean, and it’s a great indoor climate controlled building. Really great company and if I move again, I will definitely reuse them!

Professional staff, clean, clean, clean!
Lots of push/​pull carts to use so there’s never a waste of time waiting for one to become available. Very serious about security so we never worried about our items. Pro-​rated rates on partial time used. Would recommend and use them again.

clean, very friendly staff and always helpful. Some people complained that the hours are not long enough (7am — 7pm) but that wasn’t ever a problem for me.
If you’re looking for storage that just works, no surprises, this is a good place to go.

Clean, well lit, secure, and good customer service. Jackie and Paul took care of me. We received 50% off for storing at 3 month increments. There was always hot cider and a clean bathroom. For some reason I always had to use the bathroom once I got there .hmmm. Anyhow, I’ve been using their facilities for the past 5 years. Now that I think of it, it’s probably been longer. The only drawback for has been that the facilities close down by 7p. That tends to pose a problem at times.

Great price, friendly people, feels very clean and secure.
I left some belongings here for 5 months while my boyfriend and I were house hunting and I had no doubts that when I came back everything would be perfectly fine.
Slow move-​in registration, but speedy check-​out when I ‘moved out’ of my unit.
Strange locations but it’s right off the highway, and the price is worth the drive from other parts of the city! Would strongly recommend!

I stored items here for the past 3 years. In comparison, it was the best price at the time and was very clean, well lit, and secure.
I probably wouldn’t recommend storing for that long to anyone else as I found numerous seasonal rental options for clothes, sports equipments etc, that eventually worked out to be competitive to rental storage.

I moved in on 08÷01÷14. I used their service for 3 months only, because I moved out of my old housing and I didn’t have a place to live. now that my new home is all set, I decided to clear everything from the storage.
bad thing first, the registration took so long (it took like an hour!), and the staff made a few mistakes (like mistyping my name) so she had to type it and print the documents again.
I don’t know about the others but my moving in process was really slow.
However…
they were still very polite and friendly.
I don’t have any complain about the service, even at the last day of my contract with them. everything went smoothly.
I must say I’m happy with everything at Self-​Storage 1 :)
I’m not sure about using them again in the future, because now I live pretty far from the storage. But SS1 is still recommended!
Btw, I got 50% off for this whole 3 months of service. Well, they gave 50% off for the first three months if you reserve a unit online, which is good!

I’ve used this facility twice, once when I went on a road trip for 6 months and the last stint for 2 years. I was concerned about security since I was living/​traveling abroad, but when I came back, all was fine and dandy. I pick Self Storage 1 because of price and location. An easy 10 minute drive from downtown SF, the cost and space is the best bang for the buck around SF.
Staff is friendly and very helpful days leading up to moving out. While there’s no onsite disposal, the SF garbage transfer station is ½ mile away south on Tunnel Ave. Just drive your car up, get weighed, dispose your trash, get weighed again, pay upon exit. Easy breezy.
I would definitely use them again and would recommend it to anyone who needs to declutter their house, maybe pack their snowboard gear, or pull out the summer time grill for a cookout.

I can’t believe it, but I’ve been storing this and that (and a lot of that) here for 10 years. The facility is secure and easy to access, 12 hours a day and 365 a year. Facilities are clean, dry, cool and very well-​maintained and the staff is cordial and helpful. I’ve never had a complaint nor have had to wait for help or information when I needed it. Can’t imagine a personal storage facility doing a better job.
Oh, yes, the elevator is a little slow, but it’s made for handling heavy loads.
