Seoul On Wheels

Their kimchi fried rice is more likely gochujang fried rice. No taste of kimchee but gochujang. Bob cha has better koritto and the fries.

Visiting from the east coast, I had to grab a quick lunch before heading to work. Wandered around the five or six food trucks outside city hall, finally decided anything with the word bbq involved was worth a try. Got the Seoul Fries with spicy pork. Friendly service, the food looked perfect, and by San Francisco prices was relatively cheap. They were AWESOME and I keep daydreaming about them now that I’m back on the other side of the continent. Weirdly enough I’ll actually put this as one of the «to visit» spots whenever I return with my family. A food cart. Never would have guessed it!

No, just no. Sooo not worth waiting 30+ minutes for. They barely give you any good and they skimp out on the meat. Never again!

Nothing actually vegetarian since there kimchi has shrimp paste. The whole burrito felt processed and gross. The cheese is mass produced crap. I ate about a quarter of it and threw it in the trash. For $ 12 you would think they would use somewhat quality ingredients.

Doesn’t do the korean mexican fusion as well as Kogi truck in LA, but the burritto and fries were good street fare for walking around Oakland. Decent portions for the price.

I’ve hit up Seoul on wheels twice at the SFO food pod. I tried the BBQ Rib Eye Korrito, Rib Eye Seoul Fries. The fries are good. They were crisp and loaded. The Korrito was ok. In the two Korritos I had the cheese wasn’t melted. Also the ratio of meat and kimchi rice wasn’t great. Lots of rice and not enough meat. I asked if I could double the amount of meat the second time I tried the Korrito. I was told no. Service was fast and polite. I would eat here again.

Their Korean burritos aren’t anything revolutionary. Replace lettuce with kimchi, and replace Mexican-​style meat with Korean-​style meat. Other than the kimchi, they don’t taste any different than a regular burrito. They are also made very unevenly. Out of our group, everyone had varying amounts of ingredients in them. Mine had way too much cheese, other people had practically no cheese, and someone else’s was packed with too much kimchi.
I saw some other people order the rice plates as well, and those looked really unimpressive. It was a lot of rice, a little bit of broccoli, and an even smaller portion of meat with no sauce. The whole thing looked really dry.

Truly the worst meal I’ve had in a while. The «meat» was all bristle and fat! The fries where greasy cafeteria (aka frozen) fries.
HORRIBLE! wasted my money.

2 stars for effort. But would it kill them to put some type of sauce on the BBQ chicken plate? So dry, and plain. Definitely NOT worth $ 8! I“M SORRY PHAT THAI, i will never betray you again! Lol… This was my first time here, and maybe they do have other good plates. But dang it, this one was bad. Giving you more rice than chicken of course too! Lame!

Shared the tacos with a friend for lunch the other day at OTG Civic Center. I went with the bulgogi, which I thought was truly delicious. Sweet, flavorful and the right amount of chewiness in the meat. The rest of the toppings complemented it well, and I liked it much more than the item we shared from another truck. I’ll stick to Seoul on Wheels next time!

Everyone in my office is crazy for this truck and I just don’t understand.
Between all of us, I’ve probably tried everything on the menu at least once. Usually the meat is overcooked and a little burnt but when it’s cooked well, it’s decent. The marinade isn’t super great and flavorful – but hey, the customer base isn’t a Korean palate.
The ratio of meat, cheese, and «fried rice» is a little off in the Korrito; way too much cheese! The fried rice is a little… soggy. It’s a little heavy and chewy which might be fine if the other things balanced it out but with the abundance of cheese, flour tortilla, and the little bit of meat, this Korrito is a little much to chew and definitely too heavy to eat all of.
I could go in depth about all of their other items but, honestly, it’s not even worth it. Their food is okay. I’ve had better.
I’ll leave it at: Korean fusion is such a trend lately but it’s hard to do well.

Legit Korean cuisine on Wheels!
We always look forward to seeing Seoul on Wheels around SFSU campus or at Off the Grid. They ferment their own kimchee, and the Galbi [boneless bbq short ribs]always sells out before we can even try it! The Korrito is great. and the Seoul fries! Ask for extra kimchee!
Food always satisfies and never disappoints, until today… They’re food is always top notch, but today, I unfortunately found a hair… in my Korrito. why! Whyyyyy! How could you betray me Seoul on Wheels? Whyyyyyy!

Ordered the Galbi fries and was disappointed. The fries were undercooked and soggy. They should’ve fried them more. It’s also just 2 sauces, shredded cheese, and some chewy, sinewy pieces of Galbi. Definitely not the best Korean fries I’ve had. Koja Kitchen’s kamikaze fries are much better.
Sadly I’m also writing this review to remind myself to skip this truck next time.

I love the adorable name and the perky service, but the food was just alright – I feel like nowadays bulgogi kimchi burritos have become commonplace and something not too difficult to make on your own.
Plus, following the curse of nearly all food trucks in existence, the food is so salty!!! Salt on wheels.

Let’s see, there’s Hell on Wheels. There’s Meals on Wheels. And of course, Feels on Wheels. OK, I made that one up, but I could see a mobile massage parlor being a popular stop. But I digress for it is Seoul that is on wheels here, yes, the capital of South Korea. You may not know Seoul is the world’s third largest metropolitan area with nearly 26 million inhabitants, so I’m guessing Seoul is being used as a metaphor for the type of food one would presumably get in Seoul. It only took me ten minutes to come to that conclusion. I came upon it quite by accident when I had left my car to be washed and waxed at the South Shore Car Wash. Since I’ve finally gotten over the novelty of watching my car pass by the show window in suds, I was ready for a nosh. I was there on a Saturday when Off the Grid was holding court.
There was a bevy of trucks there none of which was quite filling me with great culinary ecstasy. After strolling the lot, I settled on Seoul on Wheels since a lot of the people in the randomly paced patio chairs appeared to be eating food from it (photo:
) There was quite a few BBQ choices to consider in a number of forms (photo:
), but I decided on the Galbi (Boneless Short Rib) Tacos, two of them for $ 6. It was a nice pile of marinated meat on a bed of romaine lettuce on soft corn tortillas with sour cream, gochujang chili sauce and sweet daikon julienned on top (photo:
). It was a pretty good snack and just the perfect amount since I could see from afar that the crew was starting to wipe down my car. Maybe worth seeking out when the truck shows up at the SoMa StrEat Food Park.
FOOD — 3 stars… pretty decent tacos though not incredibly memorable
AMBIANCE — 3 stars… gee, it’s a truck
SERVICE — 3 stars… bit of a wait even though there was no line
TOTAL — 3 stars… a worthwhile car wash nosh

Like I need another favorite food truck, but I just had a korrito with bulgogi, and it’s awesome! A nice blend of sweet and heat. And a good size: not tiny, not enormous.

I’ll be adding Seoul on Wheels to the list of trucks I’ll keep an eye out for!

Tried out the Belmont food truck event a few Mondays ago with the family, and we sampled fare from several of the vendors.
Seoul on Wheels serves Korean and Korean-​fusion food. Rice bowls, Korean tacos and burritos, and Korean-​inspired burgers and fries are all available on their menu.
I tried the Korrito, a Korean burrito, with spicy pork and kimchi. I ordered it extra spicy, because that’s the way I roll. :) It had plenty of Gochujang. Overall, it was a reasonably tasty item, but it didn’t grab me in a way that makes me feel the need to return for a second engagement.

So many choices at Off the Grid and my indecisive but hungry stomach decided to choose a Bulgolgi Korrito.
For $ 8, you get a seemly small, but filling burrito stuffed with kimchi fried rice, meat of choice, cheese, greens and some other stuff. I took a bite and thanked myself for the decision I made. I’m not a huge rice fan (shocking — I’m Asian) haaha, but I was so addicted to the rice! It was fluffy, somewhat sticky and had a good spicy kimchi/​fish sauce flavor. I couldn’t finish the burrito, but I definitely finished the rice. The bulgolgi was okay. It had good flavor and it was tender enough. No real complaints there and there was a good portion of meat to rice. I was kind of skeptical about the cheese. Cheese and rice??? But it was surprisingly pretty good in the burrito.
Overall, I’m a fan. I would totally be back for another korrito. Or even just the rice. Yum.

Review based on the Korritto. May consider going back for other items to give a better review.
$ 8 Korritto with Bulgogi. I really didn’t like this. The rice was super spicy, the beef was chewy with lots of inedible pieces, and it was small. Not much flavor to anything. Never ordering this again.

The Seoul fries are delicious. The tacos were mediocre. The prices were high-​ish. I’d probably go back for an order of the fries but get my main course elsewhere at another food truck (if you’re at Off The Grid, that is).
Three stars overall because the food is hit-​or-​miss depending on what you order, and it ain’t cheap.

There are several Korean taco trucks roaming the streets seeking to satisfy our covert longing for spicy kimchi tacos and Korean BBQ. Was happy to see Seoul on Wheels at Truck Stop SF and was ready to try it. I was surprised to see the low rating that SOW got on Unilocal but I was very happy with my meal.
Bulgogi Tacos ~ $ 6 for two
The bulgogi was served on a corn tortilla with chopped romaine lettuce, sliced daikon radish and topped with sour cream and spicy gochujang, Korean condiment made from red chili. A little too much lettuce to my liking, and too much sour scream that the meat wasn’t the centerpiece of the meal. But overall each bite was scrumptious licking my fingers savoring the sweet soy sauce marinade of the bulgogi. I was pretty full already after two tacos!
Daniel Burger and Fries ~ $ 9
This thing was huge. I was almost ashamed I ordered it, but hey this was going to be my dinner as well. And since it was my first time to try Seoul on Wheels I wanted to try as much as I could off the menu. The Daniel burger was two burger patties, topped with two slices of cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayonnaise, kimchee, and spicy pork. It came with a side of fries as well. I was kind of in disbelief. I thought it was just one burger patty. Apparently I ordered the regular Daniel burger. The mini-​Daniel burger had the single patty.
Spiciness and crunch from the kimchee, freshness from the lettuce, a bit of bite from the onion, rich flavorful spicy pork, and two grilled hamburger patties with melted cheese. Delectable!!! Loved the Asian spin on a classic cheeseburger!
They have a simple menu but they have rice plates, tacos, their famous Korean Taco the «Korrito» which I eventually will try in the future along with their Seoul Fries which is crinkle fries topped with spicy pork, mayo, chili sauce, cheese, cilantro & sour cream wow that sounds good kinda reminds me of KoJa Kitchen’s Kamikaze Fries.
Definitely coming back here to stuff my face with other things on the menu. And for those wondering, I did not finish the burger, I brought most of it home for dinner.
Simply unforgettable meal. A thumbs up to SOW. Memories of that Daniel burger and my first experience with Seoul on Wheels are still lingering in my mind with this euphoric gastronomic bliss!

I went to South Shore Shopping Center in Alameda w/​my sis after she picked me up at the Oakland Airport. She suggested the food trucks: Indian, Vietnamese, Filipino, Peruvian and Korean. We settled on Seoul on Wheels from SF.
You can choose between galbi, bulgogi, spicy pork and chicken for your meat. We ordered a BBQ platter ($ 7) w/​galbi and kim chee fried rice ($ 2 upcharge for each — $ 11 total). There is no upcharge for the other meats. We also ordered bulgogi tacos ($ 6) and Honey yuzu tea ($ 3).
The galbi was OK, nothing special. The marinade was pretty good, but the meat was a bit dry. The kim chee fried rice was just OK too. I have had better at other places. Both 3 Stars.
The bulgogi tacos were creative, but again the meat was nothing special. In additon, they probably should have used something other than lettuce for the greens: 3 Stars.
On the other hand the tea was very good. The yuzu and honey was a great combo and it was very refreshing on a surprisingly warm winter day: 4 Stars.
The food was OK, but the BBQ platter wasn’t a good deal for the price. When I visit my Mom again, I want to come to the food trucks again, but I will definitely try a different one next time.
