Shiatsu By Yukie

I don’t know why she is not up there on the ranking, but Yukie really is awesome!
I called early in the morning and was able to get a time in the evening. The location is quite easy to find, right beside Japan Centre and the Chinese consulate. It’s cash and cheque only, so I had to rush to find a ATM beforehand. But the time I arrived session, I was a little sweaty from the rush.
Yukie’s massage studio converted from a room in her apartment, with a nice massage bed and some decorations.
If you know what shiatsu is, here you will experience one of the best ones out there in SF. I had terrible shoulder pains from wearing heavy backpacks for school. After the session, I couldn’t feel any tension in the area. The next morning when I put on my backpack again, I actually felt pretty good with my shoulders and neck.
The background music was great, although I would agree with previous reviewers that the ads were slightly distracting.
After the session, I was greeted with water and madeleine, along with a nice conversation. Would recommend this place to anybody seeking to relax for a great price!

I scheduled with Yukie about a month or 2 ago, which was my first time going for shiatsu. She is very kind and tries her best to make sure that you’re comfortable, and if she’s giving enough pressure or not. The massage was good and I felt pretty relaxed after. She leaves you with a mini bottle of water, a rice cracker, and a small conversation. Overall the experience was really good if you’re into a home-​like type feeling.

Hidden gem. Very sweet older Japanese lady gives a very respectable and professional shiatsu session in her home. You are covered at all times and the room does smell a bit like an older person’s home, so be prepared. It’s $ 50 for an hour, and she’s not going full bore deep shiatsu like you’ll get at a Korean spa. It’s a good intermediate strength massage in a mellow environment from a very nice person. I even hung out and we talked for a half hour afterwards, felt like I was hanging out with my grandmother… (In a good way). Recommend.

Yukie is amazing! Definitely worth the money.

A warm, sweet voice welcomed me upstairs to a modest apartment and a spare bedroom converted into a massage studio.
While Yukie is a tiny, delicate lady, don’t let her petite frame mislead you: she has serious, mad skills in the art of shiatsu. I even had to ask her to taper back when she pushed into pressure points on my legs.
The stress melted away and my spine seemed to elongate as Yukie worked from my shoulders and neck to my feet, I began to drift off a couple of times which in my book is the sign of a stellar massage.
I even grooved on her massage table that has a little shelf to place your hands so your arms aren’t uncomfortably dangling into space.
The only request I’d have is Pandora or whatever station Yukie plays be swapped out for a CD. Just when I was deeply relaxed the music was interrupted for commercials advertising ABC-TV’s new Sunday night lineup and I thought, «whaat?»
(I decided to turn it into a positive and daydream about Don Johnson who’s starring in a new series– and also apparently in my rich fantasy life).
Prices are exceedingly reasonable: $ 50 for an hour, $ 75 for 90 minutes of shiatsu.
I’ll definitely return.

I highly recommend Yukie, she is very nice, sweet and professional. After the shiratsu I feel much better, and totally relaxed. She prepared snack and water for me after the massage, and we had a wonderful talk.
I feel really warm and happy after off from her house, I think not only because of her professional shiratsu skill but her wonderful personality.

I highly recommend Yukie! I’ve been going to her for shiatsu massage for over 2 years, which is the longest I’ve ever stuck with one massage therapist. As another Unilocaler noted, while she is petite (and getting on in years) she is strong and skilled!
She also uses a special massage table with «wings» so at the moments when you think she’s going to walk on your back, she has extra room to rest on and crouches there to put all of her weight and strength into relieving your muscle pains. The entire massage is conducted through a sheet and/​or blanket, so even though she may straddle your back for a moment to get those tough knots out, you don’t have to feel uncomfortable.

Lifetime customer! She is the best and she works my muscles. The deep tissue is definitely instense at times but this is what I love about her! I work out and walk alot which leads to my joints and muscles becoming very tight .
Her tecnique helps with circulation and rehabilitation. I edfinitely get my money’s worth with the session and service I get from Yukie.
I look forward to seeing her on a monthly basis!
