Simply Chic

Have been consigning (shopping and selling) all over the country (NYC, Chicago, ATX), and Simply Chic is my SF Favorite! The staff is so kind and well dressed (of course). Have found some excellent excellent pieces and they keep their store very clean and odor-​free. Prices are fair and selling is very easy.

Stopped in when my niece was in town, as she was looking for a few special items to take with her to college. Cute little indy boutique. A bit on the pricey side, but lots of neat things, a few good sales, reasonably good sales associates. Worth a pop-​in.

stuck up staff who doesn’t even greet customers. take the sticks out of your butts, you wouldn’t have a job if it weren’t for your customers. allow me to explain…
I walked in looking to add a handbag or some Louboutins to my collection and there were 4 staff members working. However, when I was standing by the bag I wanted to see I was not once acknowledged or even greeted when I had first walked in because every damn employee working was too busy telling one customer how good she looked in the ugly clothes she was trying on. Thats fine and dandy, I realize its your job to make the sale… but when you have 4 others customers in the store and not one was acknowledged by the staff because they were too busy shmoozing you have a problem.

I went here today for the first time to drop off some clothes on consignment for my mom. I met the owner Michael, and he was an absolute class act. Such a gentlemen… so friendly. Genuine.
Really nice place … warm and open. Really nice stuff for sale. Come check it out! :)

Oh that’s my little store that I go to with my sisters! We are known in that store. I love to go and see what they have, never leave empty handed! High end handbags at great prices!

This place is simply shady! I put a few things on consignment and had to routinely check up on them and my items after they «forgot» to tell me the first purse sold. I noticed a pair of shoes I had there were missing and the sales person told me they were «on hold». A month later, they were still in a back closet which I luckily saw when the door was quickly opened. Then they told me they didn’t have another purse I left with them for consignment-​after daily follow up for over a week they finally admitted they sold it and didn’t note it was under my name. They also wrote me a check for lower than my share saying they sold it on sale. Really suspicious activity and NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

My experience there is as a seller. Not a buyer. I think it is important to make it clear so the review is fair.
Don’t go there if you have some valuable items to sell. They donated a pair of shoes I had «failed» to pick up because it hadn’t been sold. They apparently emailed me on ¹²⁄₁₀ to come pick it up by ¹²⁄₂₁ but I never received that email and rather than send me an another one or give me a quick call, they just got rid of it. It is such a bad service, so dishonest, I can’t believe it. The shoes were brand new, never been worn before, not even for a minute. Needless to say, I’ll never come back.

I consigned some items here that were high end designer clothing and shoes, think Dolce, Prada, Gucci. The shop staff admitted my items were in excellent condition. WE formed an agreement and within a few days they contacted me to lower their prices. I sort of felt like it was a bait and switch deal at that point but left my goods there.
After about a month I went in to see how things were going. EVERY SINGLE one of my items had been marked down to 50% off which did not even come close to the agreement the store makes! When I pointed this out the staff admitted this was WRONG & she had no idea how this happened.
When it was time to actually mark things down to 30% off, I just picked up what hadn’t sold. They had already marked it down when they first got it– if I had planned to give my clothes away I would give them to girlfriends they fit who like them or donated them!
Working with the staff at SIMPLY CHIC WAS A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE!
Therefore I can’t recommend patronage.

Oy vey. Dangerous place. It initially looked very pricey when I walked in because the place is nicely set up as a high end boutique. Once I started looking, there were genious finds especially in the shirt/​blouse department. 7 blouses later — each one between $ 50-​$ 90/​each. Extremely good quality. I am an Italian manufacturer groupie. France and Hong Kong too. Love. them. all.
One star off cuz of the price. There are no steals but I would shop all the time if I lived here. Enter at your own risk. I’ll be back!

i was asked to provide a specific example, so here goes.
I went in the store in early November with a Michael Kors, gold strapless bustier dress, with tags, that retailed for $ 895. After waiting for 20 minutes for someone to talk to me, a guy came over, took 24 seconds to look at the dress and said «It’s not cocktail dress season, but we can give you $ 30 for it. If you want to come back in a month, maybe we can give you $ 5 more.» Was dismissive and extremely rude. I heard stories about the rude salespeople but I didn’t want to believe it. Until I experienced it. Sold the dress on eBay for $ 475. Again, will never set foot in that store again. Buy stuff here if you want, but much better to sell on eBay. More pleasant too.

To put it simply, Simply Chic is, well, chic.
I was having one of those days. Nothing was going right. I was having problems at work, man drama, my bestie had just moved to New York and on top of everything I felt fat. I walked through the door and was instantly greeted with a warm and friendly smile. I tried on a Prada dress and a gorgeous Oscar De La Renta skirt that still had the original tags. I was distracted when I spotted IT. The bag that I had been coveting for so long: The Maxi Chanel Flap Bag.
SWOON.
The knowledgable staff explained to me that the bag was vintage from the 80’s. Apparently, back in the day Chanel used REAL GOLD plating on their hardware. I hesitated to inquire about price but was relieved to hear $ 3200. I was just in the Chanel Boutique a few weeks earlier looking at the same bag that didn’t have real gold hardware and a price tag of $ 5300. The bag was a steal. SOLD!!! Not only did I get my retail therapy fix I got my real therapy fix while I was being rung up. I skipped out of the store a very happy girl.
Whoever said money can’t buy happiness hasn’t shopped at SImply Chic.

This gorgeous spot is a designer lovers dream. Even if you can’t afford the majority of stuff in the store (like me) it’s a great place to look. And, if you time it right with sales, you may be able to find some serious gems at some not so serious prices.

I wrote this letter several days ago and it has gone without any reply from management:
I love your shop but it seems you are once again plagued by snotty, curt personnel. When I came to reclaim my merchandise recently, the black female could not have been more impatient, condescending, or brusque. There was an inventory question (she couldn’t locate a skirt) as well as the 2^nd time this year that I had been called to claim a check that wasn’t there (one surfaced the following week — no apologies from her for either error). My girlfriend and I were floored by her behavior, as a matter of fact. I was perfectly patient and cordial with her despite her mistreatment of me, but subsequently cancelled my account (although one item by that time remained) and will never be back again. I am a neighbor very active in the community and cannot support an establishment that makes me feel like I have to walk on egg shells.

I love this store, and the staff, and the, well, unexpected delightful treasures! What a great find to stumble upon while wandering around in San Francisco. They were so kind to put up with me, my husband, and fifteen-​year-​old daughter looking at and trying on everything in the store. We bought some wonderful things: a Longchamps summer handbag for $ 65, some fabulous dresses, and great restaurant suggestions. What a wonderful experience!

I have been in here several times, and although they have some nice pieces, the prices are extremely high for consignment. I’ve found better deals at Cris Consignment in Russian Hill and more reasonable pricing. I would have given this place more stars, at least average if it wouldn’t have been for my experience there this past Friday.
My mom was in town and we wanted to stop by on our way home from shopping in the marina. We walked over to Simply Chic at 3:35 and there was a sign on the door (Be Back @ 3:30), we walked into another store, came back at 3:40…no one was there (except for other shoppers waiting), we went to Real Foods to grab a water, came back at 3:50, still no one was there. Another lady who had been waiting decided to leave and we continued to wait… several minutes later (3:55) a group of three come walking up to the door to unlock the store. I mentioned to the apparent staff that we along with other customers had walked by several times and had been waiting for over 20 minutes past when the sign said they would reopen. Their reply, «Well, we are here now.»
I’m sorry, but I’ve worked in high end retail boutiques for many years and leaving a store unattended for more than 10 minutes during a Friday (typically a very busy shopping day for boutiques in this neighborhood) is pretty unprofessional. Then, to not even apologize to the customers who have been standing outside waiting… I will not support a place like this or even walk back in there. It’s unfortunate because I only live 4 blocks away from here, but I will not shop here or recommend it to my friends.

This is a fabulous little boutique! Great selection and prices! The service is good everytime I have visited. The handbags are to DIE for!!!
If you like consignments definitely check it out.

Lovely collection of stuff worth oogling at (especially the bags) but the prices are a bit high (Cris on Polk has better high-​end consignment deals) and I found the customer service to be very aloof the times I have been in — barely a hello or eye contact. I think if you know what you’re scouting for, this is a good place, but if you want an interactive experience, you may want to try elsewhere.

I loved the store in Noe so I trekked over to their new store on Fillmore. The girls that worked there were super sweet (the one at Noe). To my disappointment they did not work when I came. Instead there was this super lazy curlyhaired girl that could not get up to help me figure out a belt size. I give 2 stars due to the poor service. The girl just sat there the entire time, did not greet incoming customers, did not get up to help put things in the fitting room. Instead she sat there lazily surfing facebook! Yes we checked. She finally tried to strike up conversation when I paid, but all I can think of is «screw you». She was completely rude and not at all helpfull, why is she even there?!
I miss the old store in Noe… probably will not go back to this store unless I am in the neighborhood picking up cupcakes.

During my weekend mini vacation to the San Fran, i really want to hint up some of the local boutiques. I heard about this place called My Roommate’s closet on Fillmore. It is consider a boutique outlet. Trust me there was nothing outlet about paying boutique prices for last seasons stuff. After my disappointed, i decided to continue my walk back to the hotel.
Right next door was this boutique called Simply Chic… i was a little hesitate at first after my previous disappoint of Fillmore boutiques. But the Dior bag was calling my name. Once inside, i realize what a really boutique should be without the crazy prices. They had a great assortment of apparel, jewelry, and my favorite consignment luxury handbags. I scored a Like New Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 bag (100% authentic) at an amazing price.
Ladies if you are in the area, you must stop by. They have a great assortment and reasonable prices. You will not be disappointed.

If Amanda C. asks you to go «window shopping», despite knowing that you have a serious retail therapy addiction problem, you should PROBABLY SAY NO.
Because you will pass by this store and love almost everything in here.

I tried on a dress that was really, really sexy but the bow just wasn’t cutting it. If I had more money, I would have bought it anyways, but I didn’t. Instead, I bought a really cute *totally* Victoria Beckham shirt, and continued looking for more stuff.
Then I saw it. The Marina Chodette outfit. A little tubetop/​jumpsuit thing with short shorts. It. Was. Awesome. And a perfect OC outfit. Even though Amanders said that she would try not to hate me forever if I bought it, it somehow found up in my bag?
Even though I was shopping to look like a cracked-​out Courtney Love in 1994, the stuff in here was just too cute for any of that. That and do you have any idea how hard it is to find crack in Noe Valley?
