I LOVE this store and love this brand SKUNKFUNK!
It’s so rare to be able to find a sustainable fashion brand, and it’s even more unique because it comes from the Basque country in Spain
The customer service is great, the staff is very friendly and helpful.
I also shop at Skunkfunk online store very often

Here’s the thing: I’m fully in support of sustainability, integrity in supply chains, and good manufacturing practices… but something definitely smells funky here at Skunkfunk!
Sure, this brand originates in Spain and makes a big fuss about how ethical and good for this planet their brand is, with a website that touts such propaganda as «Over 95% of our products are transported by sea to reduce our carbon footprint» and «Being our biggest challenge, we are constantly working to bring transparency and information from the origin to your wardrobe»…
But here’s my Really Big Issue: For all the green-​washing done in and about this store, if you look closely at the garment tags, you’ll see that they are made in China. You know, the place that constantly gets busted for inhumane working conditions, intolerable pollution caused by manufacturing, and undercutting American businesses and stealing our jobs by paying their workers what wouldn’t be considered in this country to be a living wage.
So, what’s the deal, Skunkfunk? Are you REALLY all about environmentalism and integrity, or is that just something you say to sell clothing? Because I’ve worked in the garment manufacturing business with subcontractors in China, and I am well-​aware of what types of standards (or lack thereof) are integral to the apparel manufacturing business there.
Other than this, things to know about this store: The clothing is on the moderately pricey side, with price points averaging from $ 60 – 200 for the items I checked. The entrance to the store is WHEELCHAIR-​ACCESSIBLE, but there’s a second story that is NOT. The employee that I encountered was very slick and big on educating me about the brand (ie, gave me their propaganda speech about how they are a «Spanish brand»), but got very flustered when I brought up the «made in China» issue. There’s a very preachy recycle-​your-​old-​clothing-​here box in their store, but it’s ridiculous and unnecessary, given that you can just walk down the street to half a dozen thrift stores and do so there as well! And aside from all that, the sizing is typical generic sizing, ie, nothing even remotely resembling plus-​sizes, petites, etc.
All in all, this store stinks of a holier-​than-​thou preachiness… but given the dirty little secret that their clothing is, despite all of their efforts to green-​wash, still «Made In China», I think that tells me everything I need to know about Skunkfunk!

Imagine clothing made in Europe by cool designers, with fabrics that are green, including vegan leather purses. I was going to the bank across the street and stumbled onto this gem. Plus they are having a sale this week on amazing dresses, skirts, jackets. BEAUTIFUL DESIGNER STUFF that you don’t see for these prices.

Something smells FUNKY at Skunkfunk.
SCENE 1: The Sales Pitch
Customer walks in and blonde salesgirl with an accent (Russian?) in the store says:
«Everything on the first floor is 15% off and everything upstairs is 50% off.»
«Is it already marked down with the 50%?»
«No, it’s an ADDITIONAL 50% off.»
«Awesome!»
SCENE 2: The Dressing Room
Customer tries on various colorful (and organic) items but the sizing was off. Some items marked as being the same size would sometimes fit and sometimes not.
SCENE 3: The Bait & Switch
«That will be ~$ 100 dollars.»
«I thought you said it was an ADDITIONAL 50% off.»
«Those tags are wrong.»
«All the tags look like this. How much are those two other items?
«Oh THOSE tags are correct so they are 50% off.»
END SCENE.
(Misleading and arbitrarily changing the prices on your customers is pretty SKUNKY if you ask me.)

Love, love, love this store! European style with sustainable fabrics. I could have spent a lot of cash here today. Dudley, the sales clerk was incredibly helpful and wonderful also.

This is a spanish brand, stuff is not that cheap. most of the stuff is in greenish color. currently they have 2 stores in US, both in SF. they plan to do this as a franchise in the future.

While I love Skunkfunk’s designs, I hate the fact that the fabrics they use are of low quality. All of the clothing I have purchased from them started to fade after just a few washes in a gentle cycle. A polyurethane bag that I bought from Skunkfunk has large patches of color rubbing off after only a month of use! Calling their clothing and accessories earth-​friendly is very misleading when these items are ready for the landfill after a minimal amount of use.
I’ve also had issues with their sizing being inconsistent. One time a size 2 dress was too big, and another time a size 2 shirt wouldn’t button closed in front. I made the mistake of ordering online with a discount code, and I was told that they don’t issue refunds for sale items. The item I purchased was full price before I used the discount code, so I didn’t think it qualified as a sale item.
Sometimes I see adorable Skunkfunk clothing that I’m tempted to purchase, but I remind myself of the low quality and pass.

One of my favorite places to shop! The store is pretty amazing! Original, feminine and modern! I love it!

I took an out of town friend here this weekend to shop and she found the cutest coat– she loved it, despite its’ fussiness (asymmetrical zipper and multiple buttons), cost ($ 350), and the simple fact that she lives in a temperate climate that doesn’t require wool coats, except for a few days a year.
After talking to the shop girl about all of these concerns, and after I assured her that the coat was awesome and if she decided differently tomorrow, we could simply return it– she bought it! The shop girl (petite blonde dimwit) heard our conversation and reassured her that it was one of their most popular items.
All was well and good til my friend decided that she wanted to return the coat the next morning. After 15 minutes processing the return, calling her manager– I assume because she was new and didn’t know how to proceed with such a simple task– she issued my friend with a STORE CREDIT for the full amount. NOT a refund! I’ve got to say that after hearing this I was irate, my friend, however was more forgiving. If this is a store policy, it needs to be printed on the receipt and displayed near the cash register. So, we spent nearly an hour trying on clothes in order to spend her store credit– with NO help from the dimwitted shop girl! She was completely in the wrong and if I had read their store policy online here:
I would have insisted the dimwit issue a full refund to my friend’s credit card.

This past Friday afternoon, I had the pleasure of walking into this store after I did some damage at Therapy. A friend of mine mentioned that this store had some really unique items that were well made, and a sale section that was worth checking out. She was right. Their sizing is a number system with «0» being an extra small and a «5» being an extra large.
After making a beeline to the back sale section, the purse fanatic in me noticed their colorful handbags. I also noticed the great jackets and dresses. A short flight of stairs up was their clearance section and here’s a great tip: If you’ve got some friends with you and no one else is there, feel free to take off your tops and try on stuff right off the racks.
The section is closed off from everyone else so no one can see you. This saved us a trip to the fitting room since we already had our tops off (bras left on). All we had to do was take clothes off the hangers and try them on! Shhhhhh. Don’t tell anyone!

This is a boutique which offers unique, eccentric fashions and also sells their own clothes with their label. The clothing is good quality but pretty expensive. I walked in here on a fluke in search of a cropped biker style leather jacket to replace the one stolen from me. I found one of their own designs that fit me nicely with all the flaps and buckles like my old one. The lady at the counter was really friendly in assisting me to find what I was looking for. My favorite jacket lives again! I intend on returning to discover more favorites for my closet!

I’m a fan of Skunkfunk designs but in my city I only know of one store to find some pieces. So, when I was heading to are SF area for work I was excited to visit a whole store full.
Skunkfunk clothing is quirky, alternative and modern. I am middle-​aged lady working in a fairly creative office and I can easily wear this style to work, out to drinks, or running errands without looking nuts, over– or under-​dressed. The clothes are designed in Spain and it shows. Nothing here looks like all the same stuff you find in the malls but the prices ($ 50-​$ 75 for tops and skirts, dresses about $ 120-​$ 175) are similar to those stores. I also appreciate that the women’s clothes are feminine without being too frilly, fussy or hippy-​dippy. Now, a special note to curvy ladies: give Skunkfunk a chance. I wear the largest size they make and some of their styles seem custom made for me they fit so great! Of course others are too small in the chest to attempt to zip up, etc but I do think they consciously design to flatter various body types. Just try it on and see.
So, back to this store. There was so much to choose from I was really a kid in a candy store. I also happened to visit when new spring lines had just arrived and last season was on sale upstairs. I ended up with a really unique purse and 2 skirts from the sale area at half off (about $ 25 each!) and a full-​price dress that I love love love. When I first came in the shop girl did not really greet me but after a bit did mention the sale upstairs. When I started carrying things around she did not ask to start a dressing room for me. Later though we started to chat and I liked her better.
My one major complaint with the place was the dressing rooms. They are small, not enough hooks, and worst of all the lighting was out (shop girl said they had been «shut down»?). It was a bit dark getting changed but basically impossible to see what you were trying. You need to open the curtain and step out a ways and peer in at the dark mirror in the little room. This is just silly and wrong in a clothing store.

Had a pretty sketchy/​uncomfortable purchase at Skunkfunk on Saturday. I love the store – they really have some great, unique pieces– but I have some serious complaints that I think management needs to address.
(-2 star) – not honoring Groupons: I had an old groupon that I bought for $ 25 (for $ 50 worth of full-​priced stuff). I never used it in time (nature of groupons), so at this point I was under the impression that they would honor the original $ 25 cost. Nope. This I actually fought back on quite hard and got a portion of my purchase paid for since I bought one item that was full-​priced (although only $ 19). We ended up settling the bill at that since I had dinner reservations I had to get to, but I am still uncomfortable with how this went down. ***Under California law doesn’t this money need to be treated as cash at this point since I did pay $ 25?*** If not, I am sorry for the low rating, but my understanding is that this is the case. So I left with a really bad taste in my mouth for being nickel-​and-​dimed.
(-1 star) – Pricing: Another piece I bought that night had two prices printed on it ($ 30 and $ 23). Assuming I’d get the lower price since it was in the clearance section, I thought it might be worth it. I felt it strange that they wouldn’t honor the price tag, but after a few minutes of talking through it and the groupon fiasco, I gave up.
Skunkfunk is in a great location. They have super unique and affordable clothes, and great bags and wallets that are well constructed, but they need to figure out a few things. In all honesty I will probably be back because a lot of my friends shop here, but I will be hesitant to buy anything again. Please make pricing and paying an easier experience. Thanks!

A lot bigger than the Haight location and more organized.
They have an upstairs where all the clearance items are, while the downstairs has all the current stuff. On both levels there are chairs to sit on, which makes life a lot easier when you bring someone along who isn’t much into shopping as you are.
Overall, I love this store and yes it may be pricey, but its one of the only brands that i’ll ever spend a lot of money on.

After seeing some awesome stuff my women friends picked up here I got a little excited. I think I just came in at the exact wrong time. One linear wall had some stuff for dudes and upstairs in the clearance area had one little rack. Much of it was outerwear — not wanting to drop over a 100 clams on a hoodie, there was little left for me to browse. The rest was for the ladies. I can’t imagine their guy inventory is so bad… maybe I was there in between seasons.
That said, the quality is amazing and there’s a discounted area upstairs in the back (up to 50% off… which will put things in the ‘normal’ price range). I dig the asymmetry and the designs and clearly there’s a healthy supply of cool stuff for the ladies. I’d mosey back in if I happen to pass one, but I doubt there’s much there to help a guy amp up his wardrobe. Give it a peek if you’re a dude, you might do better than I did. If you’re a lady, definitely check it out.

I live about 2 blocks from this place so I have to walk by it to get almost anywhere in this city and I constantly drool over their window displays and their coats. I spend waaaay too much money here. So much that I’ve become a VIP member and now I get special discounts (which really only makes me spend more money).
Their sales are great though so stop in and ask the very friendly salespeople when new shipments are coming in because that means a great sale is right around the corner.
I cannot get enough of the coats here. There are so many funky, neat, unique, AMAZING designs that fit many different body shapes. I have a larger chest, so flattering coats are usually very difficult to find (especially in colors other than black), but I have managed to find 5 beautiful, decently priced coats and jackets here that I get complemented on constantly.
The purses and wallets are also awesome. I have bought 3 different purses all under $ 45 (which is pretty good since they are also works of art that add to any outfit).
I LOVE the male clothing options too– yet I never really see men shopping in there. Maybe all their gfs are buying them clothes?
The reason why they get 4 instead of 5 stars is that I haven’t been able to find dresses or shirts that fit me well– which is strange since I feel like many of the coats were made for my body type. I also feel like some of the tops need more structure. As a woman with curves, I need fitted, structured tops so that I can hold everything in place. It’s been hard for me to find that here.
Overall, this store makes for a fun shopping experience.

«Hey, hi, happy Valentine’s Day!» I wasn’t so happy at this point on V-​Day, but I thought it was so sweet and adventurous and of the shop girl to say so. I was surprised to see that this store actually sold their own clothes, rather than a mish-​mosh of brands.
In this large, clean space they housed about an equal amount of stuff for the guys and the ladies, including a lot of really awesome coats, all-​over print t-​shirts, and a $ 20 rack (as opposed to the $ 100+ price tags of the other pieces).
The sizes here, as the sales woman explained are «half of your American size – » so if you’re a 4, you’re a 2. Hey, that’s my goal size! When I shop here, I instantly drop a size. Talk about vanity sizing. My favorite pieces were a gorgeous lime and taupe plaid winter coat, a sweater with all of these straps and cut-​outs, and a close-​fitting men’s leather jacket.
I would describe the style of clothing as San Francisco cyber punk lite.

The stars must have lined up for me to discover this fantastic store. During a rainy day my friend and I were doing some shopping around Haight and stopped by Crêpe Express for a late lunch. A little clothing store across the street caught my eye as my ate my crêpe. We agreed to check this place out. Oh dear me I think karma has finally realized all the good I’ve done for the universe and manifested itself in this shop.
Fun color palettes on both the men’s and women’s Skunk Funk clothing lines. The cuts, patterns and details turned bland basics into unique urban outfits and accessories. After shopping everywhere on Haight this was definitely a store with its own distinct style.
The clothing line is based in Spain, so with the help of the super friendly staff we were able to determine that my US size 12÷14÷16 (standard clothing sizes? psh no way) equated to Skunk Funk’s size 6. I put on one of their new items and nearly shouted «I LOVE IT!» when I saw myself in the mirror. Seriously. Years of ill-​fitting clothes that have little to no style have been redeemed.
Some people may be turned off by the price. We’re talking Euro rates here even for a t-​shirt. But the one or two items you do manage to buy will be really versatile and easy to clean. When I have the chance to scrounge up more money I’ll be back. Too much cool stuff for one little shop.

Clothes with a little flair that won’t eat up your life savings. This weekend everything in the store was an additional 50% off, which meant the three items I took home cost me next to nothing (go deflation!).
Quality appeared higher than fast fashion places (like Zara or H&M), but the overall materials and craftsmanship were middle of the road… totally fine for reasonably priced trendier stuff you aren’t going to keep for a million years.
The staff was nice, but didn’t spend a ton of time on me (though the store was empty). They do have both girls and guys stuff, but I didn’t scope out the ladies section (wouldn’t that be a little weird if I did?!?).
Bottom line: I had a good experience and I’ll check back again. I’d recommend adding them to your Mission fashion circuit…

Maybe I’m getting old, but the new Skunkfunk boutique that opened last week is a little too funky fresh for my tastes. Both men’s and women’s, the colors do jump at you, very bright and fun. Some of the styles are reversible and detachable, which is cool. I’d have to say the women’s garments were more unique in design, so girls definitely take a gander. Kind of sexy, in a rave-​like way.
I suppose the clothes give off a European street cred of sorts (lost on this urban prepster perhaps?). Upon leaving, I kind of felt this store belonged more in a mall setting, than on Valencia Street, but I guess time will tell. Until then, do the skunky funk, or the funky skunk, or whatever you kids are doing these days.
