Specialties
I specialize in the treatment and resolution of Complex PTSD, interpersonal trauma, and developmental trauma. Types of interpersonal trauma can include childhood neglect or abuse, domestic violence, sexual abuse and assault, immigration trauma, traumatic loss, person on person crimes such as a robbery or a physical assault, and vicarious trauma (compassion fatigue). Interpersonal trauma can significantly influence one’s ability to manage emotions, to self-soothe, and to connect with others in a secure way.
I view the manifestation of individual trauma symptoms as a lens into the brightest parts of the person. Responses to trauma are adaptive and necessary at the time in order to survive, but become problematic when they interfere with the ability to form satisfying and secure relationships.
As a therapist, my role is to help clients reestablish safety in interpersonal relationships. My approach is steadfast and consistent. I ensure that skills to manage difficult emotions are in place prior to deeper trauma work. I approach trauma survivors from a perspective rooted in optimism, safety, compassion, and respect.
