Awesome classes here hands down! A ton of fun and the instructor Jeremy knows what he’s talking about. He teaches a few tricks along with the classes and it was just a great experience. You’ll definitely be entertained with lots to learn and guarantee you’ll only wish you’d signed up earlier!

Jeremey is the man! Super fun class that teaches you not only mixology but also about appropriate customer service skills. Since I started the class I have felt way more confident as a bartender and a worker in the service industry! Would recommend this class to people of all levels and experience.

Jeremy is awesome. Not only Jeremy but the whole course all in all and the way we are taught is really good and admirable. I would recommend any newbie in the bartending field or any one who is even slightly interested in bartending and the art, soma bartending is the place. Just go for the introductory class that they offer at first you will find it out yourself. I learned a lot all thanks to Jeremy.

Jeremy is fantastic — we had so much fun learning from him. It was challenging too and we really felt that we got our money’s worth. With refresher lessons whenever we want, open student night any Monday, and job references to keep sharp on skills, there’s really not much more I could have asked for… Except we also found out he gives a specially discounted mixology class too for students.

This class was amazing! Don’t look any further, if you want to be a bartender this is the school for you! I took this class to become a bartender at my current job. The skills that Jeremy will teach you will set you up for success. You will learn to make a ton of drinks that might be a little intimidating at first but Jeremy knows how to teach you little tricks that will make you remember. You will need to study a bit outside of class to refresh your mind of the drinks. Once you have passed the course you can come back for student night and get to serve customers the drinks you are making. It’s an awesome experience and builds up confidence to get a job in the field.

this class was so-​much-​FUN! i initially walked in questioning if this was a good decision or not, but left all my doubts at the door. jeremy knows what hes talking about. he knows how to make everyone feel welcome (he’s just weird like that). and you learn more than you expect to from such a quick class. i have suggested and recommended this class to everyone i know (whether they want to bar tend or not). its a great experience. not only do you appreciate alcohol and drinks, you feel confident about your trade.

I’ve been a server for about 4 years, but usually with beer and wine only, so I took Jeremy’s class as an introduction to bartending. I was very pleasantly surprised by how much hands on practice you get to do in this class. You are behind the bar for most of the day, just practicing and repeating until you feel very comfortable with the cocktails that you learn. After passing the class you can come back and actually guest bartend on Monday nights in order to get resume-​worthy experience. Jeremy is an excellent, patient teacher who cares about making his students into good bartenders, definitely recommend any of his classes.

Being new to the San Francisco area, I searched for the best Bartending school. and am happy to say that I FOUND it with SOMA Bartending. Jeremy is a world-​class level instructor. I’ve never seen someone with so much passion for bartending.
He is incredibly knowledgable on alcohol, bartending, and even the history. I’ve had a lot of teachers/​instructors in the past for many things and never met someone so dedicated to his students. I mean come on. What bartending instructor can say his past students are now on national TV. His work speaks for itself. This guy wants you to leave with an experience, as well as, the skills needed to be successful. And that’s exactly what you walk away with.
THE CLASS: Two words, EXTREMELY FUN! You will not want to leave. Plus you meet some great people. It’s a no brainer. Enjoy your time as you will experience something extraordinary.

I will start off by saying this is probably the one and only Unilocal review I will ever write in my lifetime. This should immediately emphasize the gravitas of this post. With all the other bartending certification classes/​schools available in the bay area, it would be a disservice to Jeremy and the amazing experience I had taking his class to not post this review. I would like to hit on two main subjects during this post: 1) The ideal candidate to take this class and, 2) The six tangible benefits that a student gains from taking this class that no other bartending certification course can provide.
The beauty of Jeremy’s course is that it targets a vast array of ideal candidates all with one trait in common, a desire to learn how to be the BEST bartender available on the market. Whether you were like me, and were simply seeking the knowledge and certification as a life goal between jobs or want to make bartending a full-​time career, Jeremy’s class is the MUST-​TAKE in order to be in the upper echelon of bartenders available for hire. Said differently, whether you want to host the most impressive parties at your house to impress your friends or be the bartender that is coveted by employers during interviews, this is the course for you. I was a business major at UC Berkeley and if there is one thing I know how to do correctly, it is conduct my due diligence prior to undertaking any endeavor, and I will guarantee that this is the best course available on the market.
Diving into the guts of the course, there are six overarching fundamentals that Jeremy’s course, and only Jeremy’s course, teaches/​provides to anyone that takes the class. These six fundamentals are essentially the complete set of building blocks that anyone looking to be a real bartender or at home bartender need to have access to, and from my research, all other courses only provide a fraction of said six fundamentals:
1) Recipe Memorization and Practice: During the course you learn 100+ of the most common drink varieties that any top-​tier bartender would need to know. During the course of the week, not only do you memorize these drinks, you do drill after drill so by the end of the course, you have made each of the 100+ drinks at least 5 – 10 times ingraining the recipe into your brain and committing it to muscle memory.
2) Precision and Technique in Crafting Drinks: Not only do you memorize and practice each of the 100+ recipes, but Jeremy teaches you the exact technique, proportions, and presentation in order to ensure each drink is crafted in the best possible manner. No one is allowed to pass this course without being able to make each drink perfectly each and every time.
3) Knowledge and History: A portion of each day is dedicated to learning the history, distillation process, quality, and flavor profiles of every type of alcohol a top-​tier bartender would come across. Jeremy truly understands that to be a complete bartender, one must not only know the recipe of each drink, but that one must understand the foundation and flavor profile of each ingredient within the recipe.
4) Customer Service and Tip Maximization: Jeremy emphasizes the importance of top-​notch customer service, which is quite important for anyone that wants to stand out in a job interview. Not only that, Jeremy will teach you the proper techniques that will allow you to maximize your profits on any given night on the job.
5) Real Life Practice at a Reputable SF Bar (Bar Basic): I had been coming to Bar Basic for years and the fact that you are able to work on any Monday night the bar is open is a true differentiating factor for anyone that either wants to brush up on their skills like me or needs on the job experience prior to applying for full-​time bartending gigs.
6) Extensive Job Network: For certified/​graduated students, SOMA Bartending’s network is unbeatable. Besides the student nights at Bar Basic, Jeremy will contact former students to work private events in order to bolster their resumes, will recommend graduated students for job openings through his extensive network of contacts in the industry, and will act as a reference during the interview process.
Above all else, Jeremy’s dedication and love for teaching and creating the best bartenders around are unrivaled. He could be making more money pursuing other ventures, but it’s his passion for this job that keeps him going. To further emphasize this point, when I was taking the course, Jeremy was hit by a van on the freeway driving his motorcycle home from class on a Tuesday. After being in the hospital till 3am the following day, we finished up the class less than a week later. I think that anecdote says it all.

The Saturday class is 8 hours a day, 3 Saturdays in a row and I was bummed at the end of each day, wanting more.
Highly recommend taking Jeremy’s class, he’s fun, funny, and an expert in his field!

This place is the real deal!
You definitely will learn at least 100 drinks that you will make in a bar… today! Jeremy is a great instructor, he helps you remember the drinks by way to little sayings or acronyms. You practice in a REAL WORKING bar AND you can come in and guest bartend to actual paying customers.
If you want to have the leg up on the competition, this place pays off in spades. You can gain so much knowledge that will give you a serious advantage over other people wanting that same job position. There’s lots of places to go to school, but this place really rocks because of what it promises and delivers.
I’ve gotten 3 of my jobs thru the graduated student emails. I have connections and opportunities I definitely wouldn’t have had without them.

One thing I can say about this place is how much fun learning how to bartend was!!! I never knew how to make a real drink before & always thought that learning how would be a good idea so a girl friend & I did some research, and BOOM! There was SoMa Bartending!
Jeremy, the owner is awesome! His personality & energy made the whole experience that much more fun! He made it super easy to catch on to everything. The learning environment was at a real bar which made it more realistic. The instructors are amazing! They make learning the drinks so easy. I loved how the schedule was too, made it super convenient to make it to the classes. Before you know it you are doing it like a pro!
Honestly this is the best place to come to learn! It doesn’t matter if you are looking to do this professionally, just for fun, or to brush up on some skills this is DEFINITELY the place to go! They make it so easy & fun that you don’t even realize how fast it goes by! Definitely a must to come here! I recommend you to give this place a try you won’t be disappointed!

From the first day to my last, I’ve had nothing but overwhelmingly positive experiences at SOMA Bartending. Jeremy and Danny, one of the few awesome instructors there, were fantastic and truly had the proper training, knowledge, and appreciation for the art of bartending. The value of my experience and knowledge was very well worth signing up for. The instructors genuinely care about each individual student; providing them with the necessary supplies, practice space, feedback, and sources for individual study and research. I can’t thank them enough for the opportunity I was given and hope that they continue to positively impact lives of other people.

All I have to say is that… SOMA Bartending was AWESOME!
I never had so much fun taking a Bartending class. I’ve been out of the game for years and wanted to brush up on my skills. So I found SOMA online and checked it out. The instructor had me cracking up the whole time. He took teaching to a whole other level. I highly recommend this course!
