Bring cash and be ready to wait. I like the taste but Avocado sold out that day so its a little dry.

Every time I’m in town, this is my go to place for crepes. Their crepes are delicately crispy yet chewy and of course delicious. For 3 stars I took into account, the service which could be worked on. I get it was busy but the faces and tired attitudes from them was not very welcoming. I was greeted with no smile just a question, «Can I help you?» Ok fine, so I ordered my usual strawberries with ice cream, and Nutella, and before I could tell what flavor ice cream she tells me my total. Excuse me? Can I tell you I wanted what kind of ice cream before you move me along? Seeing there was a long wait I didn’t want to hold up the line, I just wanted my crêpe. After 10 minutes of watching crepes and numbers being barked out and handed out with no smile, I thought how much I wish I had Unilocaled another crêpe place. Anyway, my order didn’t disappoint me. Yummy to the last bite. I just learned I won’t come back and I’ll just have to find another place.

I’m a fan. Thinking about their crepes again makes my mouth water because it was so good. The crepes here are thin with a crispy texture and their gelato is creamy and delicious. They have both savory and dessert crepes here too! When I was here, I ordered the #17 Japanese– green tea gelato, matcha sauce, and read bean paste in a crêpe. It left me almost speechless because it was absolutely delicious. I would definitely try their crepes with gelato. Their gelato is so creamy and absolutely awesome. When you get to the end though, watch out because the melted gelato can spill all over you as you bite down on the ends of the crêpe. Be careful and make sure you have some tissues/napkins close by. They have an extended menu next to the register– make sure you check that out to extend your options! This is a very small store, so seats are pretty limited, but if you have a big crowd and need some seats, sit outside the store! Since it’s inside a mall, there are some benches outside. Also, this is a CASHONLY place, so make sure you have some cash if you’re planning on making a visit here.

This is my second time at Sophie’s Crepes, It’s in Japan town. I didn’t think I was able to finish a crêpe by myself but it was just perfect for one person. I ordered the Strawberry and whip cream with pistachio gelato. It was on point. I’m lactose and I was worried that the gelato won’t sit well.(some gelatos are no problem for me) Luckily, no issues there. They only take cash, line is usually long. Only thing I would change, is they should get more flexible plastic spoons. I felt the spoon digging into the ice cream would break off any time.

My rating is 3.5 but I’ll round it up. I got a very berry Sunday and my sister got a «make it your own.» I think it’s pretty expensive but that’s SF for you. The very berry Sunday consists of strawberry gelato, whip cream, strawberries, and raspberry sauce. It was about $ 6 – 7 tots including tax. The raspberry sauce was extremely sour and sat at the bottom of the cup. The strawberries were sweet though which is a plus. The crêpe came out to be $ 7 – 8. There was strawberries, ice cream, and Nutella. Just adding Nutella was $ 2 which, in my opinion, is pretty expensive. It was delicious though so that’s good. Super busy in the shop. There’s another crêpe shop in the same building so I’ll be trying that place next time.

Always walked by this place but never had a chance to try it since the lines have always been insane but decided to try it yesterday and glad I did. The shop is pretty small and operates on a order and pick up service. All crepes are freshly made on the spot. I got the banana, strawberry, nutella, and whip cream crêpe and friend got the signature crêpe which consisted of whip cream, green tea ice cream, and red bean paste. Both were really good, not overly sweet and the crêpe was crispy and solid(hate crepes that get soggy easily or just breaks apart). Definitely was not disappointed by the experience and would say it as worth waiting in line for.

This is my go-to crêpe place every time I am around Japan town. There are many crêpe place in the same mall structure but Sophie’s Crepes is the best in my opinion. I like their black sesame, hazelnut and green tea ice cream. It is always difficult to narrow down the flavor I want… I recommend the Japanese crêpe, which is kind of far down near the bottom of the menu as one of the special items. It is basically a crêpe with green tea ice cream, some red bean and matcha sauce. The matcha sauce is SO amazing! It is strong in matcha flavor, while the ice cream is more on the ‘green tea’ flavor side. However, you can get a green tea ice cream crêpe with less the price, which is equally good. I am still on the fence about whether the matcha sauce and red bean is worth the extra few dollars, but if you haven’t tried it you should! I would say all their ice cream flavors are pretty good, so you can’t really go wrong. If you do want ice cream, it is best to get the ice cream with crêpe instead of just ice cream in a cup. With about the same price, you get a bigger scoop of ice cream AND the crêpe so it’s a better deal. I can’t wait to come back for more Sophie’s Crepes!

If you don’t mind waiting in line for 40+ minutes for an $ 8 crêpe, you won’t be disappointed. We tried a savory ham, cheese and veggie as well as a sweet Nutella & Strawberry. Both were delicious. The serving size looked adequate but felt tiny in our tummies. No matter, it was delicious! The wait did get upsetting and the fact that the 5 «kids» behind the counter were laughing and playing around did not help the mood of those waiting. Also, the shop is small and they don’t call your number very loudly so people are crammed up by the front. If you can stand the crowd and the wait, enjoy your yummy crêpe. *Don’t get behind all the people standing around and think you’re in line! I walked straight up to the cashier with no wait… the wait is people standing around for their order. There must have been 4 different sets of people who got up right behind me who I had to tell I was not in line. It happened over and over so, and to lots of other people too, so since it will be a long wait REGARDLESS, make sure you are waiting in the right place!*

In the past month or so, I’ve visited several of the most popular dessert crêpe places in San Francisco — Sophie’s, Belly Good & Genki Crepes & Mini-Mart. Unfortunately, I thought Sophie’s was probably the worst of the three. Don’t get me wrong — the crepes themselves were pretty good. It’s just that in comparison to the other crepes that I’ve had, it wasn’t as amazing as it could have been. Regarding PRICE, I think other places have had more reasonable prices. I paid over $ 7 dollars plus tax for a strawberry & whipped cream crêpe with added black sesame ice cream. It’s an additional $ 2.50 to add an ice cream scoop, which is very expensive compared to other locations. If you don’t want ice cream in your crepes, the price is much cheaper, but I personally think that ice cream adds a lot. Regarding TASTE&TEXTURE, I think that the crêpe texture was part soft and part crunchy. I wish that it could have been crunchier, but that might just be personal preference. The crêpe layer was very thin though and didn’t leak, which was super impressive. The mixture of ingredients was really good, and the gelato assortment has a lot of asian flavors(i.e. matcha, red bean, black sesame), which is great. Regarding SERVICE&ATMOSPHERE, Sophie’s is more of a take-out crêpe place. There is very limited seating inside, so most people get their food to go and crowd around the square benches outside. The workers inside seemed to care a lot about efficiency and were not super friendly to me… if anything, they were quite cold and wanted me to order as quickly as possible, making for not the best experience. I think that my experience at Sophie’s could have been made better in many ways. However, if I am in the area again, I would get another one of their crepes because they were pretty good. I just think that there are better crêpe experiences elsewhere in San Francisco.

I quickly picked out the red bean and green tea ice cream. It was a pretty large cup and I was surprised what a great combination with red bean paste and green tea. My wife really liked the ice cream and glad that she enjoyed as much as I did. The only downside is that this store like other ones in Japantown mall only takes cash unless you spend over a certain amount. Oh well, I would buy another one in a heartbeat since this is the most authentic ice cream and red bean.

Recommend #17 Crêpe with Green Tea Gelato, Red Bean Paste, and Matcha Sauce. Looking at the menu can be a bit overwhelming since everything sounds good! There are savory and sweet crepes to choose from as well as a list of ingredients you can customize your crêpe with. We decided to go with #17, and the classic green tea red bean combination was absolutely delicious. The crepes are freshly made, filled, and rolled giving to the perfect balance of crispy exterior and soft chewy interior. I especially love that the crêpe was not too sweet with the sweetness of the red bean paste balancing well with the pleasant bitterness of the matcha. Also, the gelato did not melt too quickly, and the crêpe was not soggy or messy to eat at all. Good snack to have in Japantown.

Is this what people call a crêpe here in the states? A lot of people will probably disagree with my review including my fiancé which apparently loves this place. Let me start off by saying I’ve had plenty of crepes in Europe and I’m always very hesitant when it come to crepes out here. From what I know crepes are not crunchy, matter of fact they’re thin and slightly«soggy» but it still maintains its consistency. Having said that, lets fast forward to the part when we got our order, we got an overcooked crêpe that flakes apart, and apparently that’s just how they do them, inside the crêpe had nutella and green tea gelato, they were skimpy on the nutella and the gelato was ok. In finality, they sell overpriced overdone crepes. Would I come back? Mmmmm no unless my fiancé will trick me to come here again.

This place has delicious crepes! I love how the crêpe is super crispy. There was a nice crunch with every bite. We ordered a nutella crêpe with strawberry nutella inside. I really enjoyed it! This place is a must for all crêpe lovers.

We got a strawberry, banana, nutella, whipped cream crêpe with vanilla icecream. This is probably the best crêpe that I’ve ever had. Everything was perfect from the texture to the flavor! –Edmund They give it to you in a paper sleeve so you can eat it easily. Honestly, I thought this place was going to another overhyped dessert spot, but this was my favorite crêpe ever. They make it on the spot and it’s nice and warm! –Kristen 5 stars from Edmund. 5 stars from Kristen.

Sophie’s has always been one of my favorite places to go for crepes! I’ve been coming for years & this place never disappoints me. The only disappointment I have is if I leave Japantown without stopping by here! I always appreciate the size of the crêpe because it is big so it’s really filling or good to share as a dessert after a filling meal. The crêpe batter tastes so simple yet delicious. They always manage to make their crepes nice & crispy on the outer layer yet warm & soft in the inner layer. Personally, I love having a crunchy factor in my crepes as opposed to an all soft one. I’m a pretty simple person so my usual order is letter E which is a crêpe with strawberries, chocolate sauce, vanilla ice cream, & whipped cream. Sometimes I’ll add an extra topping or substitute something here & there to change it up a little bit! The customer service for this place always depends on how busy they are because there are some days where they have long lines. I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 because this place is not cheap! I always order the crêpe combinations that are on the menu instead of creating my own crepes because the toppings here are pricey & they add up really fast! When I substitute certain toppings, they also have add on costs! Most importantly, this place is strictly CASHONLY so come prepared or they do have an ATM in their storefront.

The gelato they have is good, and crêpe is crispy, soft and sweet. No complains here. I do feel for the price it can add more fillings, and there’s just plain chairs in the tiny shop, not a date spot or somewhere to chat.

My #1 favorite crêpe place so far! Whenever I’m in Japan town, I always stop by for a crêpe at Sophie’s and I’m never disappointed. The crêpe is always the perfect texture of slight crunchy but soft and holds the ice cream really well. I’m a plane Jane and I always get vanilla ice cream with my crepes, but their ice cream is particularly good in general. Nutella, strawberries, whip cream and a scoop of vanilla is probably my favorite combo for a crêpe. My mouth is drooling just thinking about it!

Sophie’s crêpe! Everyone talks about going to this place over the other crêpe place in the plaza. Personally, I like both. Sophie’s crêpe is more on the harder side and crunchy while the other place have their crêpe very soft and creamy texture. I usually get J here. The banana is freshly cut and ice cream they offer is vanilla flavored. I feel like it depends on your personal like to determine which crêpe place suits you. Customer service is not as friendly as the other place.

My favorite place to go for crepes and it has never disappointed. My favorite has always been the E option: strawberry, chocolate, whipped cream with vanilla ice cream. A classic crêpe that is always made to perfection with the right amount of strawberry and chocolate syrup. It’s always pleasant to watch the guy as he makes the crêpe as he does it so effortlessly. The crêpe is made super thin but still crispy and durable to hold everything and not fall apart. I have tried other crêpe places in SF but Sophie is hands down the best in the city. A must try :)

After sampling top rated crêpe places from Taiwan, Japan, and France, these guys still make my favourite dessert crêpe. They get it to just the right thickness to give it the crunchy taste. Adding ice cream isn’t that necessary, just stick with Nutella and your fave fruits and you’ll be in for a treat. Lineups are still common but they make your crepes fresh and are reasonably timely about it. Not a lot of seating so many people end up sitting in the mall benches by the stairs.
