Springboard Workshops

My experience with Springboard has been unparalleled in my creative life. Not only was I able to move past the creative blocks that had crept into place in my life, but I learned a lot about myself and how to structure my life and projects to let my creativity flourish.
Alexander is a skilled group leader who is able to really create a safe space in the workshop for participants to discuss their often very personal feelings and issues and get feedback from other participants and himself. We had regular deep conversations that led to a lot of insight and self-​growth.
On top of that, having a small community of people to keep you accountable on your creative project does wonders for actually getting them done. Have the peer pressure of knowing that you have to be responsible to these other people besides yourself is a great motivator for moving forward, something a lot of us need help with.

I just recently completed one to launch my life coaching website and it was a great experience. Not only did I get my website finished, but also got to meet an amazing community of supportive and creative people who provided feedback, encouragement and support through the entire process. Springboard turned my idea into reality! I had been thinking about recording a children’s music CD for years, but the idea always overwhelmed me. I didn’t however feel overwhelmed by the time commitment required to participate in Springboard, that felt very do-​able, so I went for it. Through Springboard I was able to break down my project into manageable weekly goals. Most of my time at Springboard was spent setting myself up for success. I had to bust through a lot of the «tedious» parts of the project to get to the fun part. Springboard helped me stay true to my vision. In the end I finished my project in advance of my goal and it was very rewarding.
The supportive group environment was so helpful. I was inspired by my group every time we met.
I also appreciated diving deeper into what blocks our creativity. I feel like I left the workshop knowing myself a lot better and I am much more aware when I am getting in my own way.
I think the format is effective and the people involved are top-​knotch.

I absolutely loved my time with Springboard workshop. At the time I was unclear about the next step of in my work, and the structure, accountability and support I received from Alexander and my group was invaluable. We met every two weeks to move our way through larger creative projects. It’s definitely worth the money if you’ve been trying to get that big project done forever but are lacking focus, or if you are unclear on what your next steps should be.

Did private Springboard with Alexander to finish a project that had been on the back burner for 8 years… A photomosaic program that I’d put countless hours into, but couldn’t quite finish. Alexander was great. He provided structure and kept pushing and keeping me accountable. There were many times I wouldn’t have worked on this without Springboard. I got the project ~90% done by the end of our engagement, then signed on for the group Springboard that was happening to keep me pedaling and perhaps move onto another side project in group (I have many:).
The group experience was very different. You get less individual attention from Alexander, but a lot of energy and accountability from the group. I finished my project at the beginning of the group Springboard, then faced a crisis as to what to do. I decided to keep working on my photomosaic algorithm, make art with it, and promote it. In the end, I missed some of my goals, but accomplished my overall goal of putting my work into the world. I also connected with a computer science professor along the way who’s using my work and offered me a $ 3,000 consulting gig, which was more money than I expected to make from this. Overall, it was a great experience and I recommend it to anyone wishing to find out just how committed they are to their dream (this program is a serious kick in the ass commitment).

I recently completed the Springboard process to work on a music mixing project. The facilitators are awesome, the community of participants are awesome, and the overall process is very supportive for any creative project I can imagine.
There are still a few minor kinks the facilitators are working out, so it’s not yet perfect. But they are profoundly open to feedback and making adjustments on the fly to best serve the group. This process is just going to keep getting better and better. I highly recommend it!

For me, Springboard came at the perfect time. I had been mulling over a music project for too long and needed some structure to kick the creative process into gear. I found the Springboard format to be a very fun, engaging way to hone my creative objectives, get inspired and get going! Sharing progress and ideas with the group helped me work out my priorities, have fun and blow up silly blocks to real progress. Here’s my rough synopsis of the plot…
The early sessions help you clarify your intentions and identify a manageable goal, a vision of a future you with a cool project completed. Next, working backwards from that future state, you determine the steps that would have to be taken along the way there, and map out a strategy to complete those steps. Getting clear on the practicalities of a project helps tremendously, turning a daunting, nebulous project into a series of manageable moves. Along the way, regular check-​ins help keep you focused. Finally, as the initial vision of the future begins to become the new reality, excitement builds. With the encouragement and inspiration found within the shared experience of creating together, you and your cohort can celebrate the achievements you’ve been driving towards all along. Sure, the envisioned goals can evolve and morph along the way. The bottom line is that you’ll surprise yourself with what you can accomplish, and have a heap of fun making it happen. Five stars!

What a fun and inspirational way to achieve your goals. It also attracts a really inspiring and creative group of people. Lots of tools for getting the creative juices flowing and then the accountability to make sure you create what you want.

Are you ready to really get rolling on a creative project? sf: Springboard can be just the jolt you need. The workshop has a nice mix of elements: from playful, improv-​like warm-​ups, to practical help in designing your project plan and honest examinations of where you’re ‘at’ with your project and how to proceed from there. All done in an encouraging and supportive environment. Both the pragmatic and emotionally attuned approaches of the team leaders were helpful and motivating.
Going through sf: Springboard with other creative people, with parallel goals, was inspiring as well. It was easy to empathize with each other’s challenges and to celebrate each other’s breakthroughs and successes. Sometimes I struggled with my self chosen deadlines (which was revealing in it’s own way), but in the end, I was very pleased with how much I got done and what I learned along the way. As in your project, so in life. A very worthwhile experience.

sf: Springboard gave me the support and kick in the pants I needed to finally get my project done in a supportive and fun environment. I feel like the participants became cheerleaders for one another’s projects, celebrating the successes and having compassion during the tough times. There might be a reason you haven’t yet finished (or started) that project yet. And, there is a reason sf: Springboard exists — to help you get it done in a productive and fun way, with support from others.

Springboard is a great way to give yourself a good kick in the butt to go ahead and create whatever project you’ve been putting off. It not only holds you accountable, but also offers a sweet support network that continues even after the project is complete. I would definitely recommend this!
