St. Philip the Apostle School

St Philip is an ideal school for us. The academics are solid, the sports teams are fun and competitive (in a healthy way), and the children are encouraged to grow in all areas of life. The parent community is a blast and manages to raise money to help support the school.

I have one child in the preschool and one in kindergarten at St. Philip. The school’s marketing may not be slick, but don’t misjudge. This school is great — excellent teachers, good discipline and academic rigor, great parents. I feel confident that my children will be well educated and well rounded. My husband and I intend to raise ‘city kids’, so we feel lucky to have found this community.

I’m proud to say my daughter just graduated from st Philips and got into her first choice high school with honors. My son who in in second grade is going to be there for a while. I love everything about this school. There is a great mix of kids, Hispanic, Irish, and Asian. A lot of native San Franciscans send their kids here and I have know a few same sex parents of students also. The principal is sweet but don’t let that fool you, she knows what’s going on. I feel great full that I found this community.

This School is great! The Principal Mrs. Everett and Father Tony, create a very welcoming and positive atmosphere. The Teachers are very communicative with the parents which by the way are a very impressive network that help support and sustain many programs and social events for the school! No place is perfect, but St. Philips has been a great experience for our family!

This has less to do with the school than St. Philip the church… I’m sure the school is just fine.
Having been raised in an active Christian family, I was taught to be a good neighbor or at least try to be. In that case, St. Philips has one area it really needs to reflect upon: parking.
Many of the parishioners will actively block drive ways for long periods of time and do not give a damn if it is a nuisance. These very «neighbors» will become belligerent before accommodating, acting as though entitled to the space.
People in the neighborhood have spoken with the church about this issue but St. Philip’s response leaves much to be desired: «We tell them not to but they just don’t listen. Call the tow truck company». I take it they don’t listen to your sermons either. If church is the workshop for the soul, I am guessing your workshop leaves more to be desired.

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. The staff at the school are very good and you can tell they love their jobs. Look forward to my girls starting here. A great sence of community at this school.

Five stars for the teachers, staff and principal. My children have been at the school for several years now and all of their experience with teachers (all have advanced degrees), staff and this current principal have been very positive. It is too bad that Jennifer had a bad experience with a certain priest at the church, but the school itself boasts great test scores, small class sizes and very active and involved parents.
I have met some wonderful people associated with the school and the church — they definitely trump the negatives.

Fond memories of St. Philip’s. I was new to this school when I was enrolled for 3^rd grade. I finished my grade school career here. I met a lot of good people and the teachers were great! Except the PE teacher when I was in 3^rd grade, that dude was a hater! HAHA.
A lot of things have changed since then. There’s a new priest, new principal and new faculty. I really don’t know what’s been going on there lately.
