Clean in a safe area. This apartment gets a review from me because 1. the landlord(Tim) is an awesome and extremely helpful guy who genuinely wants his tenants to be happy and 2. pretty much all of the conveniences a young professional could want are within 2 – 3 blocks. Trader Joe’s, CVS, Walgreen’s, convenience stores, parking, and restaurants/cafes are all effectively neighbors to this building. I’ve also heard(and seen) that it’s quite pet friendly, but I don’t own pets so I can’t attest to that.

You have decided to move to SF, and you have found this apartment building online, and you want to know more. The apartment building is one of the many Merdian properties they have under management. The building is a pretty good size, about 40 units are in the building, and there are many different types of apartments. There are the standard 1, and 2 bedrooms, studios and studio efficiency(no kitchen). I lived in the efficiency, which was 10×11, but the ceilings where high making it feel bigger. The rent is what the market can bare, and could possibly be higher than that. I was told my apartment could go for $ 1200 I was currently paying $ 950 it also came with utilities. In any case the building was built after the great earthquake, and strengthened in the 80’s. The elevator is in working order, and original so, is everything else in the building. There is no garbage shoot so; you need to go to the basement. In the basement there are 4 washers & dryers costing $ 1.25 wash & $ 1 to dry, which are handy machines. Also the building manger is also a tenant living in the basement, which is great for fixing stuff, and not so great if you do something wrong. There are rules to living their not loud noise after 10pm to name one. The area is nice, and will be even better when the Trader Joes &CVS are built 3 blocks away on CA St. It’s going to be loud if you live in the building, but you’ll get used to it over time. The hospital is on the same street, and there are 3AAU dorms close by. Also be prepared to defend your area with fiends. You are on the border of Nob Hill, and Tenderloin, but you are really living in the TenderNob(more Nob Hill if you ask me). If you are looking for a safe, convenient place to live this should be your first choice.
