St Thomas More Church & Catholic Campus Ministry

Pros: Nice church, lots of room, great pastor (Father Labib) with insightful homilies. One of the best things is that you can receive holy communion as a family.
Cons: difficult to find if you’ve never been here before. Parking is ok but can be tight. It can be cold and drafty, so bring a jacket inside. The acoustics are very echo-​y, making it difficult at times to understand the speaker. The choir is unfortunately sparse; they might want to look into improving their choir program or start one with students from the school.
The parish’s importance on family values and excellent sermons keeps this rating at a 4.

«Going to the chapel and we’re gonna get maaaaried…» St. Thomas more is not a chapel but a beautiful church. However, it reminds me of those cute, hidden chapels out in the country. Love the spacious seating and that the light shining through the stained glass windows made the entourage entrance quiet reflective and solemn. Father Labib oversaw all the requirements, logistics and details my husband & I needed to be aware of prior to our wedding day. Father and the staff were very helpful through the process, though minus a star for not having a full staff to take care of the administrative details. Lately, as I pass by St Thomas More I smile to myself of the beautiful memories

I LOVE THIS CHURCH!
Even though I’m not part of the parish at St. Thomas more, I still go. I always go to the Sunday mass at 8 pm.
I love the choir there also, the leader of the choir, Leon, used to be my vocal instructor. Him and his choir are really good! Especially when around Christmas time.
The diversity at this church is soo huge. You meet people from all walks of life and have memorable convos with them!
I also love this church, because after mass, there’s like a potluck in the foyer of the church. It’s pretty amazing!

I love the diversity at this church. It’s not just one group taking over control of activities, but it’s an actual community. I was surprised to see they had masses for other languages here (not just Filipino, and Spansh, but even middle-​eastern too. I wish it was a bit more accessible, but once you know how to get there, it’s a piece of cake.

There’s not enough hours in a weekend. Let alone a Sunday. So I looked for a church that can accomodate my life and conduct mass at a later evening service (8:00 PM) on Sunday. I then found St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Hubby and I would attend their mass from time to time and really liked the community. From the parishoners to the visitors to the choir and priests — this is such a welcoming place. Parking is okay. Church space is huge — people are spread out to wherever spot is comfortable for them. This church can get very cold in the winter so bundle up.

This church was HARD TO FIND!
BF and I came here for a wedding/​renewal of one of his friends. She and her husband never did the entire wedding thing and decided to renew their vows by having the wedding ceremony/​reception.
We were LOST trying to find the church but luckily, I allotted some additional time just in case this happened. And we used it all up. It’s the last driveway before getting on the freeway, so we had to drive super slow in order not to miss it.
But once there, the parking was tight but the church is beautiful! It was warmly lit despite the cool January afternoon.
The cool thing that the Father did when the ceremony started was to have the bride and groom face us and he was standing in the aisle between the front pews. He said he wanted us to see their joy as he married them. I don’t know if it was the Father’s microphone or the acoustics or his accent but I could understand every other phrase from the sermon.
Nonetheless, it was a beautiful ceremony in a beautiful church.

Five stars for making me an active Catholic.
*****Pastor Monsignor Labib is very inspiring, his homilies are very passionate. The message sent into your ears, into your heart, and out to your hands and feet… it puts you into action. The parishoners are welcoming just like the pastor.
*****The 8pm choir is amazing! The music infuses deep into your soul.
*****The art inside the church is inspiring, the colors are vibrant, yet very calming.
*****I love the smell of Frankincense, and they use it very often here.
*****The garden makes the outer surrounding so beautiful with all the flowers.
*****It is a convenient drive from the freeway.

i come to church here for the evening mass on sunday nights, when i’ve had to miss earlier services for one reason or another.
the first time i came here a few years ago, i remember it being very cold. the massive building that it is just holds in all the cold from the doors at every side. don’t get me wrong, although being big — there is a great beauty to it. i’m always mesmerized by the glorious crucifix of jesus that enamorates the altar. it’s probably my main focus for most of mass.
the acoustics are incredible in here. i think the first time i noticed it was when (i thought) someone in front of me sneezed. i have a pretty good peripheral, so i was dumbfounded when i didn’t seen anyone move. then i saw out of the corner of my eye — a boy, a few pews to the right and in front of me, wiping his nose with his sleeve and his mother giving him a tissue. amazing.
one thing that kept me coming back was the music. before the ensemble choir (who are extremely talented), was a man only accompanied by his acoustic guitar. he had a great balance in his voice that really made you want to sing a long. he no longer sings here, but he does lead hymns at St. Gabriel (my parish) on saturday nights.
