I came here a month ago maybe and fell in love with this place. I ordered tempura upon and the broth was amazing. This stuff is real. My husband always order dragon roll and all the roll is so tight and well made. And their asahi draft beer is so so so fresh!

The selection of sushi restaurants in North Beach is quite limited, so I was glad to stumble upon a restaurant that had good reviews. The overall experience was okay, though, and didn’t leave a lasting impression. Ordered the following: Goma-ae-(3/5) — boiled spinach… hard to go wrong here Fire balls —(2⁄5) — fried spicy tuna balls — the fish was very dry and also needed a lot more sauce hamachi kama —(2⁄5) — the fish was pretty dry again and i’m used to it be a little more oily nigiri(3⁄5) — scallop, sweet raw shrimp, and albacore tuna belly — the sweet raw shrimp was probably my favorite, the rest were ok. Bottom line — Decent restaurant, but wouldn’t go out of my way for. Order the sushi and skip the appetizers!

I really want to give this place a 3.5 stars, and rounded up because the other half enjoyed his sushi so much. The menu online does not match the location, check out my photos for the most recent. I was pleasantly surprised they offered merlot and Pinot noir red ones, that doesn’t happen often at sushi places! Ordered the chicken teriyaki dinner, loved the ginger salad dressing and the miso. The dinner plate wasn’t too bad although the there was an extra layer of fat on the chicken I had to pull off for each piece. The teriyaki was super light, only on the bottom of the plate and very sparingly at that. The side of veggies were great although I confused the cabbage with onions(oops!). There was a mysterious potato layer at the bottom I wasn’t expecting. They don’t have brown rice, it’s white or sushi only which was slightly surprising. If you’re not into seafood I might recommend trying a more friendly place to try out, non seafood options were severely limited. Also, no happy hour?!? Should be a 3 star but the man really enjoyed his dragon and crunchy tuna rolls.

We don’t live close enough to justify walking to dine-in so have always opted for delivery. That said, we’ve had repeat great experiences from start to finish. The food has always arrived quickly, portions are large, and price is fair. Taste-wise, I much prefer this to our typical takeout spots — Nara or Sakana. We’ve tried the sashimi, dinner combo plates, hamachi combo, a few rolls, and they’ve all been delightful… and fresh! Even the miso soup boasts much more flavor than other spots in our neighborhood. We’ve found our new sushi takeout spot!

We ordered a whole bunch of nigiris and were disappointed. They were thinly sliced over a big bed of rice, not to mention, the uni and hotate(scallops) were very fishy.

Small restaurant. I was able to parallel park right in front. I went lunch time when it wasn’t busy, so it was a quiet, relaxing experience; probably more claustrophobic and busy at night. I enjoyed the sushi plate with spicy tuna. I also tried the Foie Gras with Tuna special, but the taste wasn’t for me. The young server guy was good and polite explaining all the fish types when bringing out the food. I liked it.

Good little Sushi Bar Felt a bit hungry for some raw fish, so we decided to give this place another try(on previous two occasions the line was too long). We order a lot of food, we finished it all, and I liked everything. I was there for the Nigiri which was fine, but so were their tempura and California Roll. My girlfriend ordered some chicken and beef teriyaki; the beef was fine, but I was not too crazy about the chicken. The service was good. The servers visited us a number of times asking if everything was okay. I really like that, because it suggest the attitude of the staff towards their customers if positive(vs. eat, pay me, and leave!).

I ordered sashimi delivery tonight via door dash and it was inedible. The fish was just not fresh. It had a stench and horrible taste. I literally could not swallow it… Had to throw out the entire $ 36 worth of sashimi.

This restaurant has the absolute friendliest service. Our server was new but he got plenty of back up from the more experienced servers around who made sure to check in on us as well. I had a bit of a weird experience calling to get a table as they made it sound like it would be tough to accommodate us and they would have to hold a table, but it was actually pretty empty when I got there. Maybe because we were showing up at 8:15 and they close around 9. The sushi chefs made sure to regularly check in on how we were doing. We ordered the foie gras nigiri with butterfish which was probably the most unique thing we had. The flavor was great, although I would have preferred the foie warmer. Otherwise we had a crispy rice with avocado and tuna roll, miso soup, cucumber salad, and their sashimi platter. The fish was fine, but not amazing, hence the 3 star rating. The hot sake came in a bottle that honestly seemed to have an infinite number of pours(although that might be because the cups are so tiny). I think the restaurant is fine if you’re in the neighborhood, but it’s not a destination.

As a north beach resident this is my go to spot for sushi. There is a sushi bar and several tables with simple Asian décor. Service is always with a smile and the food is consistently delicious. I would definitely start w seaweed salad over greens, and for rolls do not miss out on the dragon roll — simply the best and try the special rolls w foi, very yummy!

My boyfriend and I stopped into this place for the first time after finding it on Unilocal. We were very pleased. The restaurant was quaint, we sat in the corner by the window, by far the best spot. You can watch the people walk by outside and the décor was fun. We ordered the house recommendation, fried sushi rice with avocado and spicy ahi. It was sooooooo good! The presentation was nice as well. For dinner we had 3 different types of sushi rolls. All were delicious and the fish was very fresh. The service was spot on! The staff was quick and answered any of our questions. Overall I felt the price was more than reasonable, 50 $ for 3 beers, sake, 3 rolls, and and appetizer. We will definitely be back again. The neighborhood is nice too, you can walk around at the park or go check out other shops and bars.

Food was excellent. The staff was OUTSTANDING!!! We rolled in 2 minutes before closing. Not only were we served, the staff did not make us feel rushed. We felt like welcomed guests. The seafood dinner was fantastic. A perfect balance of flavor and selection. Highly recommended!

The cutest little hole in the wall sushi spot in North Beach. If you’re trying to shake things up in Little Italy and eat something other than pizza, this is where you want to go. Sushi on North Beach sorta threw me off by the name, but this place is awesome! Not only is this place cute, the sushi is really good! The customer service is on point, sake sashimi is amazing, and of course their ice cream Mochi for dessert — YUM! Definitely recommend this place if you’re in the area.

Catching up with B over dinner here. B and I met from another decade. When we were both kids, he once dated me. I had a thing, at the time, for boys with blond hair blue/green eyes who went to a particular technical school in Cambridge, MA, who apparently all decided to move to North Beach, Telegraph Hill and Pac Heights, and liked to eat Sushi. B was one of the boys. We stayed friends over the last two decades. Now we are middle age people, often exhausted from work and family obligations. Time away from it all is rare and Sushi on North Beach delivered just that. Time away from everything. Quiet early evening before the crowd has descended into the area to start the evening activities. B returned from a week long business trip from the East Coast, it felt later than 5:30PM. Nigiri is the thing to get here. Fish are served generously over small portion of rice, which is often a sign of a quality of sushi in restaurant. Hamachi sashimi hit the spot. Uni nigiri was superbly fresh. Hot sake and cold beer was B’s thing. Sushi was our thing. For nearly two decades, with a long extended break in between, we often ate sushi together and caught up with each other during these hard to find alone time. Among the sushi joints we’ve been to in the city and other places we traveled to together, this is one of the places I’d like to return to. Food was fresh, good ambience, friendly server. And all within walking distance from B’s place in North Beach. Somethings changes, somethings don’t. While we are no longer kids, our taste for quality sushi remained exactly the same, even the type of fish we like to eat remained completely in sync. Sushi on North Beach delivered just that. Our craving was once again, satisfied.

So happy to have found this spot! The boyfriend and I wanted sushi before meeting friends for drinks in north beach. I didn’t use to correlate north beach with sushi, but now I do. This place is a gem… for the sushi, service, and atmosphere. It isn’t fancy or trendy but it’s legit and I felt like I was in the family sitting at the bar on a busy Friday night. As far as the sushi goes, it was all good. The foie gras sushi did not disappoint. We first ordered the tuna/nigiri with it and then the homatate(scallop) with it. I will come back for these dishes alone, but the whole experience was excellent.

Very friendly attendees, the food came quick, it was delicious! Definetly coming back again. We had the California Dinner and Chief special. They regularly came to our table to see if we needed something and the owner brought the Chief Special himself. Loved everything.

I have 45 min before catching a show at cobbs comedy club… That’s plenty of time to do a second dinner at Sushi On North Beach right? I rushed over here with my gf as I heard they serve foie gras on their sushi. We already had dinner but this is foie gras, like dessert, there’s always room for foie gras! We got there and thought it looked pretty busy, we were seated almost immediately. We quickly ordered and thought ok, ‘Let’s just start with one order.’ So we ordered one order of the hotate(scallop) nigiri w/foie gras(2 pcs — $ 12). It didn’t take long for our order to arrive and after we took all the food porn pics and posted to all our food porn sites, we each had one piece… OMG it was AMAZING. Like BUTTAAHH! Usually I don’t like hotate sashimi as I think it’s a bit too fishy but with the foie gras!!! It was super melty and delicious! Can’t describe it in a way to do it justice! If you are a foie gras lover you know what I’m talking about. If you are not, just go here and get it! Obviously, after that order we had to try the other foie gras combo — tuna nigiri w/foie gras(2 pcs — $ 11). We may have waited a little bit longer to get this order as the place was filling up with more and more customers which was fine. When we got our order, again pics, then we ate. It was still delicious but I personally like the combo with scallop a little bit more. Our 45 min was up after we indulged in our foie gras craving. We quickly got the bill and some ice cream to boot! And we’re on our way for some laughs! I would definitely come back here again and try their other offerings! Fish selection is great and fresh. The staff is super friendly, helpful and attentive! I’m coming back for that foie gras roll! :)

The worst service I received in weeks. At the time, it wasn’t particularly busy yet no one came to take the order for 25 minutes. 25 minutes. If not half an hour I spend walking there I would probably leave. Service was also slow & not attentive. On top of this, very erroneous. Only one out of four servers at the time was smart enough to fix everything. Sashimi & sushi were ok, however, nothing to write about.

Convenient and good sushi spot if you are looking for a sushi place in North Beach! Their Rice Cake Sushi with Spicy Tuna, had a crisp and crunchy fried rice texture on the bottom. It was good and something specially made here. Skip the Fireballs! It was basically fried up sushi rolls, but shaped in a ball form and you can pop it in your mouth, each with a wooden toothpick stick that they served it with. I don’t prefer Beef Tongue because it is tongue, nonetheless. I gave it a try and it was what I imagined it to be — dry and rough without much flavoring. It would be good with sauce or with some marination. I like their Deluxe Sashimi Platter! You can’t go wrong with Sashimi — unelsss it is not fresh and cleaned up correctly, then you can go extremely wrong with it! As always, I love my Salmon and Hamachi Sashimi! Those two are my classic favorites! Their Hamachi Kama was tender! Loved it! Their sushi rolls and beef teriyaki, was of the norm! Service was fast and accomodating! Their prices on the dishes, weren’t too bad — especially in this neighborhood! You can see me around at Sushi On North Beach!
