Love the shawarma here. Perfect place for people living in inner sunset or cole valley near UCSF. Quick food and great. Quiet place.

Finally tried Taboun after driving past it so many times. I got a chicken shawarma with hot sauce and my boyfriend got the lamb and beef shawarma with no hot sauce. Both wraps were huge and savory, but I preferred the lamb and beef over the chicken. The hot sauce was delicious, though. It added a nice flavor without being overpowering. Wraps are affordable and location is nice– right next to UCSF and I think UCSF employees get 10% off! Would definitely recommend :)

Great for the UCSF and local crowd around cole valley. The food is fresh. The humus is awesome. My favorite is the Chicken Shawirma Dinner Plate, the chicken is tasty, plus the 2 side dishes, even 2 people can share if you are not big eaters.

I love this place. I’ve had almost everything on the menu and never been disappointed. In fact The owner, Maurice, is one of the most personable patrons in the city. And his food is outstanding. If you are a fan of eggplant, you have to try it here. The hummus is excellent … so creamy. And the mojadara is an tasty addition to any combination of foods.

My cousin took me here on Wednesday evening. He lives right across from it and it would have been nice to have known about this place earlier. But now I do and will most likely be getting food from here again. I got the chicken shawarma, which I annihilated. It was really tasty and had the right balance of meat and veggies. I wish the hot sauce had more kick, but still good nonetheless.

I came here yesterday, by the recommendation of a friend I was with. Glad I did, as I had been craving this type of mediterranean food for a while. Nice clean, family run shop, with great food, very reasonable prices for SF. I got the falafel delux wrapped in shawarma, and I must say it was excellent, and big portion too. I really like how this delux version included eggplant & potato inside of the Shawarma. mm! I liked it so much, I ended up buying 2 lamb & beef shwarma wraps for our dinner that night too! I probably wouldn’t come all the way to SFJUST to eat here… but if I was close enough in SF, I wouldn’t hesitate to stop by, and grab some falafels or a wrap.

Came here for a quick bite with my friend because we saw it randomly empty. I ended up getting the vegetarian plate which was pretty filling. I had to take about half home. My friend got the shawarma wrap and she also took half back. The food was good. I didn’t really like one of the hummus on the plate but I forgot which one it was. The people are nice! The food pretty quick and easy. It costs about 10 bucks which isn’t bad for SF food. Glad I got my one dollar employee discount :). Honestly probably wouldn’t come back again specifically for the food. Maybe for a casual lunch or something.

I had a falafel and the falafel pieces themselves were cold. Not room temperature; cold. I complained to the cook that my falafel was cold and was told«we don’t cook them for each order; they’re pre-cooked.» Fine, but at least warm them up. No; he didn’t offer to warm up the food, apparently didn’t see a problem. Besides that, their food is consistently over-salted, which may not matter to everybody, but it does to me. I won’t be back.

This place is ridiculously good. The lamb/beef shawerma wrap is huge, the flavor is perfect and the lavash is fresh and the perfect texture. The dolmas are excellent, grape leaves not too bitter and the rice veggie mix is spiced perfectly. Staff is friendly, and the location is clean. Handicap accessible restroom for customers. Didn’t have the falafel, but another person here was eating it and said it was amazing. If you’re stuck at UCSF and need a place to get great food, large portions at a reasonable price, I can’t recommend this enough. Top notch, fast and delicious.

My wife and I have been going to Taboun for years, ever since we moved into Cole Valley when she started medical school. The food has always been great, and Maurice and his family are very friendly. This past weekend, we had a party in Golden Gate Park and needed catering. Who better to turn to than our friends at Taboun? They provided us veggie platters that went above and beyond. We had plenty of food and then some thanks to the heaping platters from the Taboun team, and our guests raved about the tastiness. And the beautiful flowers from their shop next door gave a nice extra touch to our GG Park picnic. Thank you Taboun! –Andrew & Kate

Just a short walk from the UCSF Parnassus campus is this Mediterranean gem! I ordered the Vegetarian plate, which was a sampler of dips, salads, falafel balls, dolma and pita bread. This was a lot of food for lunch but I ended up sharing some of it. Plus, UCSFID’s get you 10% off :) Will definitely be back for the fresh, delicious food and fast, friendly service!

I usually order catering. A small vegetarian platter and several chicken kabobs on the side. It comes with plenty of pita bread. The chicken kabobs were really good. Seasoned wella and juicy. They separate it from the veggie platter. I went once for lunch and ordered a chicken kabob wrap. I think I’d prefer it on a plate and wish the wrap came with hummus. The wrap itself was sort of dry until you get to the juicy meat or sauce. Overall, I’d order their veggie platter, but probably wouldn’t come here for lunch again.

This place gets three stars almost automatically, for being within walking distance of UCSF. It’s hard to find shawarma, sometimes, and at this place it’s definitely passable. The sides were decent, good dolma, great babaganoush. The tabouli was interesting, but good. The shawarma(lamb and beef) was a little dry but flavorful. I won’t turn this place down next time I’m at UCSF with a gyro craving.

I can’t say this is my favorite Mediterranean food place ever, but if you’re in the neighborhood looking for something yum and filling, Taboun is a great option. The wraps are massive so you’ll definitely be getting your money’s worth. I tried the eggplant without hot sauce just because I’m a pansy, but I’m fairly sure the hot sauce makes their wraps taste better. The outer layer of pita was burnt so my wrap tasted overwhelmingly charry, but I enjoyed the flavor of the filling and the texture of the grilled eggplant enough that I wouldn’t mind ordering the same thing again. There was a group of us waiting for our to-go orders and even though it didn’t even take that long, the kind man making our wraps also gave us a whole bag of fresh falafels! What a sweetie!!! I ate mine so fast I forgot to take a picture, but they were were lovely, albeit dry. Still, I definitely recommend the falafel!
