Tailor Maid

I can’t rave enough about Marissa’s amazing work! She is truly a gift in the tailoring industry, ESPECIALLY when it comes to the more delicate items such as bridal attire. I relayed the specific tailoring instructions for my bridesmaid dress to her and (thinking it was going to be complex and stressful) it didn’t rattle her at all. She is so professional and so comforting that she really eases the stress of helping you prepare for that special day. I am really grateful to have found Tailor Maid and could not be more pleased with their services!

I can’t begin to express how happy I am. Having my dress home, and perfect, and finished, and exactly how I imagined it is SUCH a dream come true and a weight off my shoulders. Tailors should offer anxiety pills at the door because it is so nerve-​wracking giving your dress over to someone with scissors, but I couldn’t have chosen better in selecting Marissa and Alma at Tailor Maid. The work-​space was not what I was expecting, but as I understand it she usually comes to you. But the space grew on me anyways, it’s very artsy and San Franciscan. And now I would meet her anywhere — for this level of work and collaboration. They are so patient and open-​minded and they dealt with me so supportively while I struggled with deciding on and communicating what I wanted my bustle to look like. Because of my tulle and lace overlay (I bought Allure 9121 — BIG ballgown), the bustle shape was not coming out how I imagined it, and my limited terminology/​understanding of materials didn’t help. But through a couple of different pinnings and Alma’s expertise and patience, she ended up bustling the individual layers so as to give me the poofy English bustle concept that I envisioned, while keeping the buttons visible the whole way down, AND while avoiding having multiple fabric «puckering“points where the bustle buttons were attaching to the top layer. This was not easy on them I am sure, but they remained open, amicable, and willing the entire time and never made me feel like it was impossible, or that I was a burden (even though I KNOW I was not easy :)). The determination and professionalism and level of expertise put me at ease through the entire process, and they endlessly worked and brainstormed to ensure I got exactly what I wanted as things progressed. For instance, my dress was in my size, but the buttons which covered the zipper up the back were kind of lifted off the zipper (thanks, Thanksgiving feasting) so they added external invisible hooks to keep the buttons laying down. And for the custom top they continued the buttons, but added extra fabric behind them so that there was no skin visible. Furthermore, to maintain the button spacing pattern from the dress through the custom top, they added invisible «snaps» to ensure the fabric doesn’t raise in between buttons. And even further still, they added an extra hook for the tip top of the dress, just below the custom top because there was a little diamond shaped space that opened, but they closed that up too — basically anything that was needed to ensure the dress looked like it came this way, they implemented, and all for a very reasonable price. I look at the pictures all the time, and it always gives me butterflies — I’m so happy. I can’t post pictures yet, because my fiancé hasn’t seen it yet since we’re getting married in 3 weeks, but right after I will post them for sure. Thanks Alma and Marissa!

Marissa is awesome! She was able to rush alter a bridesmaid dress for me in just a couple of days. She was friendly, professional and she did a wonderful job. The dress fit me perfectly and I couldn’t have been happier with how it turned out. I highly recommend her!

Marissa was wonderful to work with! She squeezed me into her very busy schedule when I only had a few weeks left until my wedding. Her pricing was super reasonable, the cheapest I found during my research for bridal tailors. She does house calls but I came to her studio since she’s right around the corner from me. She’s super communicative, which is so important when dealing with stressed brides. Marissa scheduled me for a consultation, then a fitting about a week and a half later. She really listens to your concerns and above all, is honest, which I really appreciated. When I was contemplating adding sleeves to my dress, even though she could’ve gotten more business and money out of me by telling me I needed the sleeves, she was honest and told me the dress looked better without them. There and then I changed my mind, and I’m SO glad I did. My dress fit like a glove! I got so many compliments on it :) Thanks Marissa!

I just got my matron of honor dress hemmed and altered by Marissa, and she did an amazing job! I love how it fits and now feel more comfortable in my dress. Not only is my dress perfect, Marissa is the sweetest and got replied to my email quick. Will definitely be coming back to get all my dresses altered by Marissa in the near future!

They did awesome work and it was reasonable! I read reviews about the poor customer service, and I had the opposite experience– everyone was super nice. Overall a great experience and would recommend to anyone looking for a quality tailor.

Marissa did a great job altering my 2 suits, 1 dress shirt and jeans. I gave Marissa a call and was fortunate enough to make a same day appointment. I only needed 1 suit within a week, but she was able to finish everything at the same time.
I’ll be calling her again for my tailoring needs!

I took my daughter’s prom dress to have it altered because it’s too long for her height… and Marissa did a grrreat job! Love it! Keep up the good work!

Marissa is an experienced professional who has a gift for what she does. I needed a cocktail/​slash wedding dress completed for my wedding in Las Vegas 7 days hence. The dress needed to be taken in 3 dress sizes. It had delicate and complicated ruffles all over the bottom section of the dress. I came into her shop and she pinned me up and said she would have it done the day before my wedding. She finished a day early which was excellent and when I went to pick it up I couldn’t even tell that it had been altered. She did a superior job with the ruffles and bodice, I could tell she takes her time and does quality work. I would definitely see her again. Only thing felt it was a bit pricey at 100.00 dollars but I felt it was worth it as she did the work is so quickly and expertly. I am sure comparatively her prices are fair.
My wedding day was very special because the dress looked fabulous all thanks to Marissa. Go to her and you will not be disappointed.

I was looking for a place to have some pants altered and read the favorable reviews on Unilocal about TaylorMaid so I decided to give them a try and I wasn’t disappointed. I contacted Marissa and I was able to schedule an appointment with her the next day. She did an excellent job with the alterations, each pair of pants fit just as I hoped they would after the alterations were complete and her prices were reasonable. I would definitely recommend TaylorMaid for your tailoring and alteration needs.

Marissa was able to make alterations to my wedding dress as well as hem and make my sons baggy dress slacks slim fit. I called her very last minute and was able to help me out, have everything for me within a few days. The dress fit me great and my son loved the fit of his pants. Area is a little difficult to find parking but she came out to meet me, when I pulled into the driveway of the building. Prices are good, and she does super great work. Thanks Marissa.

Marissa is just as awesome as all the previous reviewers say.
I had a very small job; I just needed some sweaters mended. I know TM does a lot of bridal work, but thought to go ahead & give them a call. Marissa was totally great, & told me it would be no problem.
When I dropped the goods off, she actually came out front to my car… what front door service! She examined my sweaters, & told me it would be about a week.
When I went to pick up the sweaters, they were done so well that I couldn’t even tell where the work had been done in the first place. That is, all but on one. The cashmere sweater job just looked unfinished. I brought this to Marissa’s attention, fully understanding that cashmere is difficult to work with. There actually was extra cashmere threading for this sweater still attached to it (by the manufacturer) that she had overlooked. She was immediately responsive, & apologetic. She offered to fix it right then & there on the spot. I said that wasn’t necessary, & I’d come back. Next day… all was rectified.
Marissa took on a job that she could have easily passed on. She’s extremely busy; now fully booked through May. And when I brought something to her attention, she took care of it immediately. All done w a positive, pleasant, & professional demeanor. And the pricing? Totally reasonable.
There is no reason to take any tailor needs you might have to anyone else.

Wow, Marissa is amazing. I had a high-​low bridesmaid dress (high in the front long in the back) that needed shortening all around. It had multiple layers and a lot of fabric gathering and bunching as per the style. I took it to another place first and the lady got too overwhelmed by the job because there was a lot going on. I also needed it tighter at the bust which I am sure was a difficult task because of all the boning and structure in there.
Marissa was affordable and did amazing work. I really appreciated how efficient she was during the first fitting. I really like her business style: quick time efficient meeting and on time delivery of a perfect product. If I ever have any tailoring needs in the future, I am coming to her no question.

I was in desperate need to have my wedding outfit to be made from scratch and this Amazing Professional did it very fast (less than a week) and just totally great and exactly as I wanted.

As you can see from all of Marrissa’s reviews, she is Awesome! I’ve gone to her with numerous items of clothing that I never thought I’d wear again. Most important was my favorite coat in the world and I thought that from wear and tear it was lost to time (zipper was broke, torn at seams, etc). I’m back to wearing it almost daily again. She has also on numerous occasions tailored old shirts for me that I had and loved but couldn’t fit into anymore (I got fat lol).
In short, Marrisa is amazing to work with, amazing personality and makes magic happen with her tailoring work. I wouldn’t recommend a single friend in the bay area to go anywhere but to her. You’re the best!

Marissa is AMAZING! With my super busy schedule of school and work it is impossible to find any time to go to a tailor that is only open from 9 – 5. With Tailor Maid SF she was able to book an appointment that fit my schedule, at 7pm, and she came to my apartment! For someone who doesn’t have a car that saved me so much time! When she came she was so knowledgable and professional, I gave her numerous pairs of jeans, a skirt and a shirt. She did a phenomonal job and when the garments were returned to me they fit better than I could have imagined! I know who I will be calling any time I need something fit to perfection!

Its safe to say that Marissa will be my go to for any tailor needs going forward. i needed a pair of work slacks and button up shirts custom fit and she did not disappoint. I have had my fair share of bad experiences with getting my clothes fitted so was hesitant. I gave her a call and she even made the trip to my place (Daly City) to look at what i wanted to get tailored. She gave me some great suggestions and i asked if she could just do one of my shirts and take it from there. She did not disappoint and it turned out perfectly. I now have someone i can trust with my tailoring needs without any worries

Marissa is awesome. I had completely forgotten about hemming my satin wedding dress — it didn’t even occur to me until the week before my wedding. Enter Tailor Maid… she showed up at my house on a Thursday, we did a quick fitting for measurement, and off she went with my dress. She returned it on Sunday evening, helped me try it on just to be sure, and VOILA… dress hemming DONE. The work was beautiful and the pricing was super reasonable for 3 layers and a train.
She is very easy to deal with and super sweet. Total lifesaver!
