All I can say is that«Mariposa» is no longer ruling the Gluten-free taste buds of the bay area, because there is a new kid in town. I encountered«Taste of Happiness» at an event at Rickshaw Bags. The cupcakes were so cute, I just couldn’t pass them up And I am so glad that I didn’t as they were amazingly tasty, too! And that was before I knew they were gluten free!

We asked Heather to make us two different types of cupcakes for our wedding this past February and they were a big hit. My husband hoped there would be some left overs, so he could eat them late at night and they were all gone. No surprise there. What is surprising is that they are gluten free(for those who it makes a big difference for)! We ordered: 1. Chocolate cake with crushed coffee toffee and mocha frosting 2. Chocolate chip cookies and cream cake filled with caramel, topped with cookies and cream frosting. The mini cupcakes were moist, not too sweet and had the right flavor combinations to leave you wanting more. I’ve tried gourmet cupcakes at many different shops around the West coast and Heather’s is by the far the best. She has been working for years to perfect her recipe and it shows. What I like the most is that the cupcakes are not overwhelmingly sweet. The designs itself are a work of art. Highly recommended for birthdays, weddings, any occasion or excuse to eat them!

I got these as a gift for Valentines Day. They were so delicious and adorable! I got the peanut butter cup, the lemon raspberry, and the peanut butter. Just amazing. The butter cream cloud like icing was just brilliant! I am now suffering from a sugar hangover but it was well worth it! My coworkers were trying to restrain themselves from eating all my treats. They also LOVED the«cute little cupcake wrappers» and kept saying how adorable and delicious they were! Thanks Heather!

Your search for amazing gluten free cupcakes is over. Call or email Heather immediately to place your order. Because these things are amazing. It’s not easy to find a good gluten free option that’s not dry or less flavorful. Strike that. It *wasn’t* easy, but then I discovered Taste of Happiness. I chose this place based on the positive(and totally deserved) Unilocal reviews and the several different flavor options Heather offered. And don’t think you’re limited to the flavors listed on her website — those are more like«examples.» When I ordered, I ended up getting two flavors that I hadn’t even seen on their flavor options page. Both the apple spice and cookies and cream were amazing. The frosting is not-too-sweet and smooth and the cupcake itself moist and bursting with flavor. Everything you could ask for in a cupcake. I ordered 4 dozen minis for my wife’s birthday celebration an everyone loved them and had no idea they were gluten free. And it was a special treat for my wife, who usually has to forgo deserts of the cake variety. Heather also provided great customer service. She was responsive to my initial email inquiry and always emailed me right back when I had additional questions. Then, the day of, she sent a confirmation email with directions to where to pick up my cakes. And when there was confusion(on my part) as to where she was located, after I found her and picked up the tasty little morsels, she emailed me and offered a dozen free minis for the confusion. A brilliant scheme to have me back for more tasty cakes in the very near future. No scheming necessary, Heather. These cupcakes are legit. And it doesn’t hurt that they’re topped with a jelly belly. :)

Like whoa. I did my best to sample every single perfectly moist little cake she had and I still wanted more. Yummy eggnog, pumpkin, real apple bits, big chocolate chunks, light creamy frosting, cute little jelly beans on top… I could go on. Maybe the best cupcakes I’ve ever had. I didn’t even realize they were gluten-free. Bonus if that’s important to you. Oh, and the logo, just ridiculous. I love it.

Best gluten free baked goods ever consumed in my life! I had a chance to try a few out at the Unilocal Elite Party at Public Works and let me tell you, boy, do these cakes pack a punch! Not only are they staged to be ethereally beautiful, the cute sizes and pretty decorations almost make it intimidating to eat these little gems. Luckily, I have no problem eating pretty things. And the taste is like… «BAM»? — honestly, I am a great baker myself, and I don’t usually buy baked goods because I can outbake a lot of the stuff that’s out there for sale. I hardly even sample anything when offered, because I don’t need to eat another piece of sub-par cake. But I don’t know how exactly these people manage to produce a cake that is silky, light, moist, crumbly, not too sweet, and so flavorful without using flour, everything from the cake itself to the frosting, and without any of the mealy texture or that weird flavor you could typically expect of gluten-free baked goods. To describe these little treats and do them as much justice as I can I will just highlight the points: –Pretty to look at –Expertly staged –Staff is so friendly –Cake texture is excellent. Light, moist, crumbly, great rise(uniform bubbles, lends to a good mouthfeel). Tried the pumpkin and apple cinnamon — neither were too spicy, although the pumpkin could have used a more pumpkin flavor rather than spices. –Frosting was silky, creamy, and not overly rich or sweet. –Flavors were fun and innovative. I invite you to try these. We live in a wonderful world where you might have allergies to common foodstuff but you have to compromise nothing!

I love cupcakes. All kinds of cupcakes. I usually eat at Kara’s cupcakes. BUTTHISCOMPANYJUSTSQUASHEDIT. They really mean it when they say a «Taste of Happiness.» Mmmmm. how about a taste of bliss?! They had miniature cupcakes at the Unilocal event. They had chocolate chip, pumkin spice, and eggnog. I tried the chocolate chip cupcake and it was honestly one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. The cupcake was really well baked. Moist yet firm. Sweet but not a bowl of sugar sweet. The frosting was delicious and wasn’t too much. I felt like it was a great mixture of ingredients. I wish I got to try all the flavors! I am still wanting one of their cupcakes 3 days later.

Hands down the cutest cupcake brand logo ever. You can’t help but smile and feel happiness when you see the cupcake character with a huge smile on its face. Had the privilege of trying ToH cupcakes last week at a Scoutmob launch party at Bloodhound. Heather was there handing out bite sized happiness. I tried the pumpkin with chocolate covered pomegranate seeds. Yum though talking through the stickiness of the chocolate covered pomegranate was difficult cause it stuck to your teeth. I had no idea at the time they were gluten free — I couldn’t taste the difference! The mini cupcakes were smaller than the average but they’re only 75cents each. You can order them online batches of a dozen for $ 9. I recommend checking out their website, super cute and cheery and you can even make your own custom cupcake creations!

Absolutely Amazing! I shared these with my friend who is a pharmaceutical rep– which means she tries goodies and sweets all the time, from all the best places– and she said these were much better than the other cupcake shops around the city. I had gluten free cupcakes in NYC, but these are better! I tried 3 flavors and they were all unique and delicious! Great texture, great frosting. Please please get a storefront soon!

Wow! For gluten free cupcakes, these are off the charts! I loved both the nutella and the orange one that tasted like a creamcicle. Really… I was happy! I would eat these again and again. I highly recommend these to everyone not just people who have gluten allergies. They really are THATGOOD!

If only Unilocal would let me give 10STARS!!! You will never have a cupcake like this in your life! I’m not a sweets person but man oh man I could eat these as an entire meal. The cupcakes themselves are moist but not too soft like most generic cupcakes, and the taste was out of this world. The name says it all — taste of happiness. Each time I took a bite, I was definitely happy! haha. =) Heather, the owner, said it took awhile to perfect the recipe and I don’t doubt it for one second. This is a must try for everyone! I give it 10 Stars for presentation; 10 stars for taste; 10 stars for gluten free; and 10 stars because Heather is awesome at what she does!

Taste of Happiness never tasted SOSWEET! Mellow and exhausted from volunteering at the Food Bank all day, this was the boost I needed. The owner/baker walks over to the MUNI station with a tray full of these gorgeous flower decorated cupcakes. They looked so perfect you would think they were fake. The frosting detail was extraordinary — the last time I saw cupcakes like this was from a bakery in NYC. I kept on oogling. I had to try one. Besides it was my birthday and I wanted to treat myself… But wait, out of the pure kindness of her heart, she offers me a cupcake in celebration of my bday. A perfect stranger with perfect kindness. That alone has made me a fan, but yes, the cupcakes are deliciously delightful. I gobbled. I’ve been salivating over these since and cannot wait for her website to launch. Thanks for the kindness!!!

One happy customer here! As a gift for my birthday last year, I received the most amazing and sumptuous cake I’ve ever eaten. And let me tell you, growing up in a house where baking is a daily affair, I’ve had my share of cakes. The quality and detail in the design and presentation were phenomenal! I’m a musician, so the cake was uniquely designed, with a dark handmade piano placed on top with the music notation to happy birthday written on it as a puzzle.(I had to guess the music, clever!) The top and and sides where layered with creamy chocolate and peanut butter, my favorite flavors, of course, and dusted with cocoa powder. Like I said the presentation was phenomenal! The cake itself was chocolate and layered with the creamy peanut butter. It was incredibly rich and succulent. Just how i like it! Everyone that had the cake raved about it! Too bad i didn’t get one for my birthday this year… guess I’ll have to get a little something something for myself.

I didn’t know that cupcakes could be gluten free AND delicious! The texture is nice and soft, and they taste amazing. The cupcakes are lighter, so they don’t weigh me down and make me feel gross like most desserts do, but the frosting is still just the right amount of rich and creamy! I had a cupcake that I had in the freezer for two weeks, and when I took it out to eat, the frosting was still smooth and delicious! I definitely recommend Taste of Happiness – once you try it, you won’t be able to get enough!
