The Inn at Oyster Point

I can’t decide how to feel about the Inn at Oyster Point. Bottom line: I probably would have loved my stay if I had booked for a non-​business trip. For a business trip, this place did not cut it for me.
I loved: the fireplace, comfortable bed, great linens (though mine were a little torn up and at first looked like a truly gross stain), breakfast brought to your room, lots of TV stations. I had a fantastic dinner at the restaurant, and would definitely eat there again.
I seethed over: When I checked in, the front desk let me know that the wifi was down and someone was coming to fix it the next morning at 6am. Visiting for business, I figured that would be fine, since I had planned to wake up around 7am and work the whole day from the hotel the next day. I woke up at 6:30am and called the front desk, asking for an update on the wifi. I was then told that the repairman was not there yet and had no set time planned to arrive (no response when I explained that the front desk the night before had assured me there was a 6am appointment). The whole day’s plans were ruined: I tried to use a mobile hotspot for a bit, but with video calls it got too expensive, so I headed to downtown SF to seek somewhere with a reliable connection. This was obviously a huge disappointment.
Maybe I was overly critical after this experience, but other disappointments included some dirty parts of the bathroom and a breakfast served too late for me to eat before leaving for the hotel (they ask for a 15 minute timeslot for your breakfast to arrive, and mine got there just a hair too late).
Stay here for a romantic getaway, not when you’re already stressed on a business trip.

The Inn at Oyster Point is a quaint little hotel that’s about 30 minutes south of Fishermans Wharf. It’s only around a 25 minute drive from SFO.
I really loved the free breakfast that is offered. The hotel leaves you a form in your room that you can fill out to place your order for the next morning. The form needs to be left on the floor in front of your door before 10pm. The breakfast includes a light pastry, coffee, juice (orange, cranberry, or tomato), a bagel with cream cheese, fresh fruit, a muffin, and cold cereal. You can get multiples for another guest. There is a refrigerator with the expected vending items inside. I had a Keurig machine which was a nice touch. The hotel includes two k-​cups a day for free! To eat breakfast there is a cute two soft chair area with a small table near the window to enjoy the view while eating. The view was really just some boats.
My particular room had terrible air conditioning so it was quite hot. When I brought it to the employees attention they mentioned that it wasn’t only our room. It was the air conditioning that runs through the entire hotel. I had a fireplace that operated with a switch that worked fine. Too bad it was already really hot.
The bathroom was very large and clean which was very nice. Two robes plus towels are provided along with the regular soap, shampoo in a bottle combos. Our hair dryer didn’t work which was a little frustrating. We were given an iron and ironing board which we used a little bit on the nights that we went out.
There is a very large desk space for those who are traveling for work. I didn’t even bring my laptop on this trip so this became my junk space.
Now this sounds silly but the bed was abnormally high. This was a little frustrating because the end tables on the sides are of an average height. It sounds silly but it was a little inconvenient in the middle of the night to have to look over the bed in darkness to grab my glasses so that I could walk to the bathroom.
It is in an industrial area so there aren’t any business, restaurants, or bars nearby. If you like to run out to a bar last minute, get a craving for something to eat late at night, or just want to do something last minute you will need to drive at least 15 minutes in any direction.
All in all it was a good experience. The service is accommodating and everyone was extremely nice. Large parking lot so that was never a problem. It’s not big enough to need valet service.

Overall, not good at all, and definitely not 3.5 stars. More like 2.5 stars.
— A lot of the things didn’t work in our room (102). For example, the air conditioning control was something from the 50s I think, and no matter how you turned the dial, no air would come out. Door handles came off a couple of times too. Phone didn’t work either. To order room service, I had to go to the front desk and order in person.
— Cleanliness: There was a large stain on the comforter. We found two huge spiders, one in the bathtub and another in the corner of the room where it had formed a cobweb.
— Breakfast: It was nice that there was free in-​room breakfast service every morning, but the breakfast wasn’t too good. The fruit was definitely not fresh and had even gone bad. The juice was not fresh either. The bagels were good though.
— Location: Depending on traffic, it’s about a 45min drive to downtown SF, but at least you get free parking.
— Price: Definitely not worth it. I understand it’s SF, but first of all this is not downtown SF, and it’s no where near a 3.5 star.

Very disapointed with our 2 night stay. We arrived, got our key, and headed to our room. Key would not open door. My husband had to get someone at the front desk who had to almost throw herself at the door to open it and went on her way. Upon entering noticed that the room smelled musty. Went to open a window and noticed a fleet of flies in the window. Opened the window and found out why. Screen was broken and just hanging on. Then noticed that we were directly above the restaurant patio, which made our room noisy and smell of food. Had to choose between a stuffy room or a noisy, fly filled room. Now time to sleep. 2AMish rolls around and I am awoken by a beeping sound. I get up stumble around looking for the noise. Found that the fireplace remote was freaking out. I finally get it to stop beeping but can’t get back to sleep due to the flies buzzing around the room and our neighbors loud TV. My husband reported all of this in the morning and requested they move us to another room. That’s right, we had to ask, it wasn’t offered. However this one wasn’t much better. Windows stuck, fireplace didn’t want to turn on etc etc. It was also a pain to find parking as the lot is always full. About the only thing this «inn» has going for it has a nice view. We travel a lot and I have never had an experience like this before. Really looked forward to staying here as I love quirky, eccentric decorated inns.

Being 100% honest, one of the worst meals
I’ve every had throughout my travels across the world. The four other diners with me agreed completely and would have had a more harsh set of words than what I’m posting now.
Our server was great! She was happy, attentive, and engaging. Grade– A
Décor isn’t anything special, but it’s not bad. Small
Dining room with a «view»…only to be seen during the day. Grade– B
Only positive, local IPA’s were good and the bread was good. All downhill from there. Started with the Clam chowder. It was almost entirely potatoes, not hot, and wasn’t seasoned well. I had to add a a half a shaker worth of pepper to elevate the taste. A caprese salad was next. Tomatoes were flavorless and overall taste was bland. For dinner I went with the seafood paella. The dish came out hot but smelled like ketchup, problem #1. All of the seafood was rubbery and tough. There was one shrimp in the entire dish and no traces of saffron anywhere, problem #2. Bomba is the key ingredient to a paella and I believe Uncle Ben was the rice that joined us for dinner; the dish was doomed without the proper key ingredient, problem #3. I couldn’t stomach more than a few bites because of the smell and overly poor quality of ingredients. Lastly, I have to add that the oyster Rockefeller were the worst thing served. I didn’t order it but our table did and the smell was atrocious, they looked like they were made 2 months prior and reheated or a frozen pre-​done oyster. It was so
Bad our group brought it to the attention of the manager. We advised of our concerns and suggested he try it and he refused and apologized, while offering us a free dessert. We didn’t accept the dessert but it was a nice gesture. Grade– D–
I feel slightly bad about posting such a harsh review, but it is accurate and unfortunate. After spending $ 350+, you should be full and satisfied; neither were true for me when I walked out the door. I would not recommend for dinner.

This review was from APRIL of 2015, I just finally finished writing it.
Was invited to dinner at a local Italian joint by the gf’s family (review to follow) and we decided to spend the night nearby instead of driving back to Roseville. Always looking for a deal we found something on Hotel Tonight that gave us a nice, last minute, rate on this medium sized B&B style hotel so we booked it. Upon check in the desk staff handed us a «door hanger» menu for us to list our breakfast choices upon and told us to leave it out before we went to bed so that it could be collected and our breakfast delivered to us in the morning. The room was QUITE nice, though in the morning it was a bit loud due to us being on the bottom floor, near the desk, it was one of the last rooms available when we checked in though so that’s OUR problem not theirs. Bed was comfortable, linens quite nice and the room setup was conducive to 2 people just hanging out and talking. Our room overlooked the point and we decided to stroll around that after breakfast the next morning. Breakfast was good, better than I had expected and delivered in the time frame that we requested. This review is getting to long so I’ll sum it up by saying that I WILL be staying here again, deal or no deal. It’s a nice little place, close enough to enjoy the shopping and area but far enough to just walk around Oyster Point and relax for an hour or so. Quit reading this already and book a room for a getaway with your love, you will likely enjoy it

Great location for getting to the airport for an early flight. Clean and people are friendly HOWEVER, a series of things that made our overnight stay a less than pleasant experience. –a couple of small things-​key would not fit our door, light bulb out, parking was very sparse but the worst was the room was far too hot and they wouldn’t turn the air down. They brought us a fan that didn’t help. Folks in restaurant and bar very nice. We had paella and it was great. Probably wouldn’t stay here again.

The restaurant is amazing. Get there at dusk for the best view of San Pablo bay. The calamari friti is not to be missed. Crisp and dry, with grated Parmesan and fried banana chips. We enjoyed the mushroom ravioli, I recommend the white sauce (you can also get red). Places with views this amazing often grow complacent about their food, but not this one.

We are repeat customers and especially enjoy the park and fly deal. We get to stay in a lovely room on the third floor with a great view of the bay, king bed and fireplace, and park our car for 14 days at the cost of just the parking in SFO airport. Breakfast served to our room the next morning was a delight. We will keep using the Inn when we need to fly again. There has always been very good service, too. Try it out for yourself!

We usually like oyster point… up until tonight. We were told (two different times) someone would be picking us up from the airport no matter what time. W got off the plane and when we call they say the shuttle does not run late and we need to take a cab and they will reimburse us. Ok fine. A little inconvenient but fine. When I go in to get our reimbursement the rude man at the front tells me that they can only reimburse us a partial amount and they do not reimburse the tip you give the driver. Good to know oyster point does not care enough about the cab drivers in the city to give them a tip. We nor will our family ever be staying here again. We will go somewhere that cares about tipping people, telling the truth and where we are actually treated nicely.

Cons:
*Toilet seat was broken (I saw a couple of other people mention this in their reviews, too).
*A|C doesn’t work (but we were told they’d bring us a portable fan).
*Our flight was relatively early (needed to catch the shuttle at 5:45 am). We were told that we were leaving prior to the start of the complimentary breakfast. They comped us with juice and a granola bar.

This is not a 5 star hotel. This is not a luxury go-​to. That’s why I LOVED THE INN AT OYSTER POINT!
TI@OP is quirky, safe, quiet, and convenient. From the moment we were greeted with a smile to the complimentary breakfast, the evidence of pride just oozes all over. These folks are keenly aware they are not one of the popular or easily recognized chains, but you can tell they are proud of their establishment, and that is what matters. Its been a long time since I walked into a hotel and not felt like I was being processed with a fake smile.
The smiles at TI@OP are genuine and so are the rooms. The décor, while a bit haphazard, was fun and not the usual cookie cutter dresser /​desk /​chair ensemble. The furnishings told me that someone actually spent time and thought about our stay.
The location (10 – 15 minutes from SFO) is a bit interesting and nestled in what appeared to be a corporate business campus, but TI@OP was situated right on the bay with easy access to the walking path winding its way around the bay.
Everything just brought a simple smile to my face.

Stayed several times for their stay, park, fly program. Not always available, this time on Jan 1, parking lot pretty full, and I don’t think many guests.
We’ve gotten a nice big room each time, sometimes with a cozy gas fireplace. Big comfortable beds, great sheets, and quiet location. Harbor lights a little bright during, but we had to get up at 4 AM, so no problem!
Haven’t tried the restaurant, several great small enthnic places on Grand Avenue in S. San Francisco. This time we tried Kamu Sushi, reviewed also.

Great place for a get away! Always a Wonderful experience. The view from the top rooms are stunning plus their’s a fireplace inside the rooms!!! Beautiful sunrise/​sun setting view overlooking the Marina.

This place is one of the best kept secrets around. And just a mile or two north of SFO. The inn looks out over Oyster Point Marina and the East Bay for a stellar view compared to most hotels in their price range (i.e. views of parking lots). They have two restaurants on the property with one just off the main lobby. The food is very good, the prices moderate, with a good (but small) wine list and friendly service. Their happy hour menu is surprisingly generous. The pulled pork sliders were awesome. Their rooms are large, comfortable and all have gas fireplaces! We drove up from San Diego to spend Christmas in the City. The real trick here is to pay a little more for their park-​n-​fly deal, then BART into downtown, where we stayed four more nights at the Palace Hotel (a future Unilocal), right on Market Street and saved the fifty dollars/​night cost to park there. This made our stay at the Inn almost free!

Friendly staff and nice looking room with a great outside view. Upon check-​in our room was upgraded for free. Unfortunately, I didn’t end up loving my stay here. When I was looking for hotels, wifi included in the price was a huge factor for me. I paid $ 200+ for my one night stay here which included wifi. When we got settled in the room I tried logging onto the wifi with no success. I spoke to the front desk about this and was told that unfortunately there is wifi issues in some of the rooms.
Later that night it got chilly even with the fireplace on due to a broken vent which kept blowing out cold air while the AC was off. I called the front to explain and was offered a heater which I greatly appreciated until i found out how little it helped due to the heat radius being half a foot.
The following morning we received our complimentary breakfast. Everything looked pretty good until I got to my bagel which was completely burned (see photo). I get that it was a free breakfast but when a hotel thinks its ok to serve a burned bagel to a guest, it’s really disappointing.

Found this place on a Park & Fly website. We flew out of SFO for an international flight, parked our car for free 16 days then upon our return, we were picked up by their shuttle and stayed overnight @ $ 170 which included the parking while in Europe, ride to/​from SFO, 1 overnight and breakfast in the room the morning after. Really? The rooms was decorated cute, very clean, with a view and a fireplace.
Seriously, this is a no brainer. We will stay at this place BEFORE and AFTER our travels. Loved it.

Charming place. Great views, artsy décor, well-​appointed. Loved the gas fireplace and the beautiful views over the marina. The front desk service was very pleasant. Close to San Francisco but with an out-​of-​the-​way location that felt restful. Good prices when paying in advance.
Unfortunately, the housekeeper must have been in a rush, because it was kind of gross. There was a long hair on the bathroom counter, a clump of hair on a towel, and something that looked like boogers on the bedside lamp. Yuck.
I might give it another shot someday, but I hope they clean up their act.

Only came for happy hour… had a try of their filet mignon sliders, fish & chips, and calamari. Of the three, the calamari was probably the best. The filet mignon were a little tough for well, filet mignon. And unfortunately, for the fish and chips… the battered fish tasted sooo fishy, it was unedible in my opinion. I only had a bite and I pretty much had to drown the taste with my drink of choice, a rum & coke.
Most of the clientele were seniors, so my coworkers and I were a little out of place, but its very convenient to work. My boss is apparently a regular here so it can’t be too bad, right? One thing the inn definitely has going for it though is a gorgeous waterfront view!

We received a gift for a one night stay at Inn at Oyster Point and I wasn’t too sure what to expect, especially since I’ve never stayed at a bed and breakfast before. I was a little skeptical on how great a B & B can be a few miles from SFO. I was pleasantly surprised. The Inn at Oyster Point is definitely a little gem of South San Francisco. A convenient exit from 101 and a few minutes on Oyster Point Blvd and you’ll reach this cozy hotel.
The Inn has a private lot which makes parking a snap and checking in couldn’t of been any easier. We were given our key, yes, a real key (wow!) and made our way to the second floor. Before I opened the door to our room, I was expecting a low-​tech, outdated room, but I couldn’t have been farther from the truth. The room was plenty spacious and had carpet and hard wood floors. Given that this hotel is close to SFO there was a large desk for business travelers. There were two chairs placed near the window, giving us a nice view of the marina and bay.
The room was simply impressive. A fireplace, a flat-​panel Samsung, warm wall colors, a gorgeous bathroom. Simply put it was perfect for our first bed and breakfast experience. Given that this is a bed and breakfast, you are required to place your breakfast order by 7 pm. You’re given plenty of choices and I chose a bagel, cereal, fresh fruit, orange juice, and coffee. The breakfast was delivered at the time we requested and everything look great. The bagels arrived toasted and were served with Philadelphia cream cheese. We took in our breakfast while taking in the great view, a perfect start to a Sunday morning.
Although almost everything was perfect, there are a few things that could be improved: too much sunlight comes in in the morning. The blinds do not effectively keep out the sun in the morning. The bed was a little stiff for my taste but the ultra comfortable down comforter helped tremendously. There was a bit of walking around noise from our upstairs neighbor and perhaps a little padding would help those trying to sleep in. Nevertheless, Inn at Oyster Point is a great little place for those seeking to get away for a night and don’t want to leave town.
