We checked in at this location after finding a good deal at
. The surprise waited for us upon arrival at this location was
1– valet parking $ 35
2– room with no air conditioning
3– horrible customer service
4– shower was not working

I was stuck here because of a work trip and they wouldn’t let me book a place outside of town. We booked it through Expedia by calling them for a group. Hahaha definitely not doing that again, ever. Sure it was convenient to where I needed to go, but definitely wouldn’t want to come back. I can say at least the bathrooms were clean… bed was okay, but I think I was too tired to even care.
There was some random stuff in the closest, didn’t seem like they paid too much attention to cleaning I guess. The rooms were super cramped and you could hear everything outside including people having conversations. Someone across the hall was letting their door slam all night and management said they wouldn’t do anything about it. I figured people would have at least some decency for others, but nope.
If you can, avoid this place. Go stay outside of the city, you’d be much more comfortable and able to sleep at night without worrying about people slamming doors or hearing everything that’s going on outside.

You’re not paying for a Hilton or a Marriott so don’t expect it to resemble. However you will get a decent room compared to most of the cheaper hotels in the area. The rooms were clean with no weird odors lingering, the bed was comfortable with decent pillows, (something cheaper hotels in the city lack) the flat screen was great, the bathroom was clean with plenty of towels and a generous amount of toiletries. What more could you want?
People will complain about the neighborhood but no one will bother you if you mind your own business. There’s a liquor store below which was actually pretty convenient due to the fact that they sold phone chargers.
I guess my only complaint would be the wifi because it was terrible during my stay. Other than that you’re getting a decent room with its own bathroom, might I add isn’t very common with other hotels in the same area.

Dreamforce was in town the week I was in San Francisco, so rooms were hard to come by. This was the least expensive hotel I could find.
It’s located in the Tenderloin, so the neighborhood is a bit sketchy and it was surprising to pull up and realize they don’t have a parking lot. It’s an older hotel and definitely no frills but the staff was friendly and helpful. Free wifi and breakfast was also nice.
Quick last point is that there is a parking lot about a block away so it wasn’t too bad.

I’m staying in room 308, which is concerning because a previous Unilocaler found bed bugs. we had to book this hotel as a last minute thing because the one we were at before was too disgusting to be in for more than 5 minutes. so by comparison this hotel is the ritz carlton. yes the room is small and its not the fanciest, but i lifted up the mattress and couldn’t find anything wrong with it so I’m guessing they took care of the bugs? (in this room at least). the neighborhood is a little scary but as long as you don’t go out at night by yourself it shouldn’t be a problem. and the staff was super nice to us and extremely accommodating. i probably wouldn’t stay here again because I’m a little bit of a princess when it comes to hotels, but for this trip it’ll do just fine.

The neighborhood is a bit rough. Just mind your own business and you’ll be fine. Car rental broken into was a downer even though nothing was taken. Hotel itself was great. Staff was friendly although not very helpful advising on parking situations. Almost like they didn’t care. Rooms are redone and pretty nice and comfy. No ac but it was cool that weekend. Our view was a courtyard looking into people’s apartments. Which I think was a good thing since its pretty quiet. Remember no ac so your windows will be open and traffic and homeless can get loud. Courtyard is quieter untill Mrs Tokunaga in 11B starts cooking and chopping her stir fry veggies at 7 am. Boy that was loud. I would come back as it is close to everything just plan ahead for parking.

I have been to bad places in this world, but this for sure is hell on earth! There are druggies, homeless everywhere! When we first arrived, my 7 year old opened the door and there was a homeless woman that ran up and immediately asked him for money! We heard gun shots our first night and our second night, our car was broken into! Right in front of the hotel! I’ve sent emails about our reported problems– partying, loud noise, no AC and no response so poor customer service. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Dangerous, most dangerous place on earth.

Paid almost a grand for 5nights, fridge didnt work even though told the front desk multiple times that it was broken and was met with «try the other plug». There was no hotel parking, had to park at different location where i was charged an arm and a leg. Overall the room itself was okay… its just the overall accommodations didnt match the price I paid for.

Payed about 150 for a night. I ended up stepping in a few rat turds in the middle of the floor and looking at a cock roach walking on the ceiling above me. Crappy place all in all. Don’t stay here.

You get what you pay for. We needed the cheapest place available so we could drive in to see the Giants play. We paid $ 110 plus tax. The parking is across the street in a valet parking arrangement for $ 34 overnight. This hotel is good for a simple utility if you need a simple place to crash after a night of drinking. I say drinking because you will need to be inebriated to sleep through the night. The building is at least a hundred years old. The walls are paper thin and the room is not well ventilated. I listen to a homeless man talk to himself most of the night from our 3^rd floor room, along with the horns, sirens, and I’m pretty sure I heard the neighbor fart in his sleep. The area is not the best as it’s loaded with homeless people a vagrants. It’s just not a nice part of town. That being said, I needed a very cheap place to sleep and it provided that utility for me and my family. The room was tiny with two full beds. We set up the pack-​n-​play in the closet. It was clean. It had a small very old style cage elevator.

DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT EVER EVER STAY HERE!!! Sketchy area — as soon as we parked we saw drug deals, a man taking a piss on our parking meter, a lady yelling for her life and the usual panhandling. We weren’t even out of our car yet. We felt unsafe and decided to get another hotel. They refused to refund our money. The place doesn’t even deserve a star but Unilocal is making me.

Ok place to stay for a night. Didn’t get those waffles like they advertise and got a brick wall for a view, but other than that it was clean and comfortable. Walking distance from a lot of asian restaurants; Lao, Thai and Vietnamese which was a plus. Would stay here again. Nice staff too.

The area is scary. I was told twice in my first 10 minutes of arriving that I needed to be careful and watch out. There was a bum right outside yelling all night the whole time we were there. Im not being dramatic. He wouldnt shut up!!! Our shower didnt work we had to take baths. Our outlets didnt work in the bathroom so I couldnt blow dry my hair. Breakfast is really early and consists of nasty waffle mix you cook yourself, toast, english muffin, cheap danish, cereal, coffee, and juice. Parking will cost you at least $ 15 a night if you go a block away from the hotel. But then you have to lug your stuff to and from the hotel as bums watch you and walk closely next to you. Staff isnt very helpful or friendly. They do the minimum.

My friends and I were going to be partying in the city and needed a place to crash for the night. The Regency Hotel was cheap in very close to the venue we were going to be at so I decided to give it a shot. I had read the reviews before hand but still decided to book the room because all the AirBnB’s and Marriott rooms I looked at were pretty expensive.
SERVICE: The woman who checked me into my room was very friendly. On Saturday morning, I thought it was weird that the housekeeping lady knocked on our door asking about cleaning the towels when we didn’t call for more clean towels or even checked out of the room.
ROOM: We were only only on the second floor so we took the stairs up to our room. The carpeted floors leading up to our room smelled like a mixture of pee, smoke, with some other funk. Our room wasn’t bad at all. We had our own bathroom (lots of other hotels in the area have shared restrooms with an ENTIRE floor of people), which was also another reason I chose The Regency. They had a very nice Samsung TV but other than that it wasn’t a very nice looking room. It has a small refrigerator and microwave in the room and an old school heater in the corner.
NOISE LEVEL: We were in the Tenderloin so we woke up to cars, horns, and people arguing and yelling outside. There was also some loud noises coming from the room next to us. I didn’t even want to know what they were doing in that room. I’m not sure how the street noises would affect you if you were on higher floors but I’m going to just say that you would probably hear it too. No need for an alarm clock. I’m sure the street noise will wake you up.
PARKING: There’s no hotel parking so be prepare to park on the street. And you’re in the Tenderloin, so PLEASE don’t leave valuables in your car or there is a high possibility that your car can and will get broken into. NOTE: Parking metering runs on Saturday’s.
I think The Regency hotel is a decent hotel if you desperately need a place to crash for the night. You definitely get what you pay for with this hotel and nothing more. You can always pay an extra $ 30 – 50 bucks and get an AirBnB or just get a room at the Marriott.

Decent hotel but the location is horrible and not worth it. It is located in the ghetto part of downtown San Francisco. No good views, crappy breakfast, crappy breakfast times, tons of homeless people and lots of trash outside. However the staff is amazing and I never had any dilemmas. I am young female who traveled alone to this hotel and was forced to be in the hotel by certain times because the homeless, drug users, gangs and just abnormal individuals would harss me and follow me around. Definitely not safe, so please be cautious if booking with them.

Venture out. I should’ve known when the prior occupant stored their food in the microwave. Also & more importantly my wife & I left the do not disturb sign on the door & they still went in the room. This was a stay cation for us & didn’t realize until we got home that we were missing our camera & my wife’s earrings. Management couldn’t do anything for us when we called. His reason because he couldn’t speak to his Spanish speaking only housekeepers.

not bad for a 1 night stay. great location. dont be afraid of the neighborhood locals… they wont bite… just say hi! :) as far as the actual place, its clean, nice lil breakfast. the staff is helpful. I dont know if I would stay during the colder months. there’s not heat in the rooms… lol but for the money and to be near downtown SF, its a deal!

I stayed in room 308 and woke up in the middle of the night with bites to find bed bugs in the bed.

Warning about review: cons outweighs the pros!
Con:
— Old school hotel right in a ghetto location in SF! Drunk, druggies and homeless people can be spotted (day and night). This street is like their home.
— parking location sucks! And in a sketchy neighborhood! Beware! Park in public parking garage! Valet will kill your wallet here for $ 30/​night.
— the floors creak and somewhat uneven slopes. Yes you can hear people walking through the (creaky) hallways
–hallways are narrow. Not recommended for handicaps and concerned about emergency evacuation (there was an earthquake this AM too.)
— the walls are thin. You can hear the movements of what people are doing next door and above you (opening drawers, sitting on mattress, walking…) earplugs recommended.
— bathroom super small and black moldy stains here and there.
— NO AC! You gotta crack a window. Which makes it even noisier. Time to enjoy the smell of SF pollution.
— the room has a lingering Indian/​fried food smell. Like you can smell it seeping thru he walls. How is this possible?
— the room is small. Recommended for 2 ppl to co-​hab during stay
–the window blinds are broken
— entire room needs new furnishing…
–Don’t expect a good view! Your view are windows of neighboring buildings with ppl hanging their laundry outside or dirty roads.
–tv programs pauses once in a while due to poor reception
–the free wifi here is somewhat slow
— there is still plastic covering the mattress. Either they’re trying to hide the bed bug issues or too cheap to remove the protective layering.
–no ‘do not disturb’ sign in site for me to use.
Pros:
–nice High def tv with DTV cable.
— you get all basic amenities: desk with chair, bed, some complementary bathroom stuff
— microwave and mini fridge
— complementary breakfast starting 7am
— decent size walk-​in closet. Except your walk-​in is shaped like a narrow hallway.
— you get to try out a mini elevator. Yes, the one where you have to close a door and latch.
— Pricing (But is it worth it!!!)
I’ve been in here for 2 hours already and I already noticed so much about this place. I have lived in the bay area all my life and I gotta say the expectations of this place is Poor. At least other cheaper motel 6, holiday inn, etc locations give better furnishing, is odor free and do not make me worry about my safety due to hotel infrastructure and location. I feel like I don’t know when I might break something because this complex is historic and lacks good maintenance and and renovation (hint: black moldy stains in bathroom is not a good sign!)
Why am I at this hotel? It’s covered for free by my bf’s company… But I wouldn’t come back here even if it is free.

This place is awful! They had ad at Airb&b and the photo got us to rent the place is totally different then we expect. The hotel is close to quite a few tourist place like union square and some shopping area, but it is definitely not a safe place to live. There is a lot of homeless people surrounding that area asking for money.
–Parking–
The customer services is bad, they have different people everyday and they never take note is you pay your valet ticket or no. You better keep your ticket with you if not they will ask everyday and trying to change you $ 25 dollar a day. The street parking is not safe because the area aren’t safe. Don’t expect too much on the varlet parking, there is only a place in front of the hotel to do that, then they drive to somewhere to park your car. It took 20 minutes to take the car back to the hotel.
— Room–
The room smell bad, all the furnitures is quite old, although the have a big screen TV, microwave and a small refrigerator is acceptable. The bed cover with a layer of plastic, which makes you uncomfortable to sleep on it. The heater is broken and never work. The cleaned the room everyday but sometime they won’t replace so cleaning shampoo everyday.
— Breakfast–
They have some apple and banana, simple breakfast, bread, cereal, milk, coffee and juice every morning for free.
It wasn’t the best experience or cheaper around, we found some other place is cheaper but we picked this because is close to where we suppose to go, but sorry no next time!
