Thor is so much fun to work with! He’s so great at capturing your personality and making even the most awkward photography subjects (me and my husband) feel totally at ease! We are so happy to have chosen Thor Swift Photography for our wedding photos! I had seen his work in the past so I knew they would turn out well but nothing prepared me for the beautiful photos we just received. All the backdrops Thor found were lovely and beautifully lit; we are supposed to be choosing photos for our album and I don’t even know how to begin narrowing them down. The engagement photos were wonderful as well, the first person who saw them said that it looked like a fairy tale.
Neither I nor my husband are very comfortable having our pictures taken but Thor and Anastasia were able to put us completely at ease; several family members and wedding guests also commented on how warm and friendly the were to work with.

It is so wonderful to be in a wedding where you’re not expected to be shooting candids and uploading them to the couple’s site. Thanks to Thor and Anastasia, my friends (and the entire wedding party) were relaxed enough to celebrate. We had a great time, and the bride (Anastasia did some wonderful styling for her) sent us all beautiful pictures by Thor as a thank-​you. From looking at their album, Thor was everywhere, catching everything and making much better pictures than any of us could.

I was referred by a friend to Thor to take some professional portraits. I wanted something beyond the typical stiff poses that one often sees used by corporations, and Thor quickly captured the casual and fun yet professional look I was going for. Thor came to my house for the shoot, which was not only very convenient but also helped to put me at ease during the shoot. He took plenty of frames using a few different backgrounds and wardrobe changes for variety, and easily directed me to poses and angles that worked best. Following the shoot, Thor sent me a wide range of really great photos to choose from. After I selected ~ a dozen of my favorites, Thor did the small touch-​ups that transform a photo from ordinary to great — particularly helpful for those of us who don’t like having photos of themselves in the first place!
Thor is professional and a pleasure to work with. He delivered a high quality product for a very reasonable price.

Thor is rad. My husband and I were married in a spiritual ceremony in Madrid last April and needed to make it official by signing paperwork at SF City Hall, which we finally got to just this past December.
A friend and colleague suggested we get in touch with Thor to archive the special day. His trained eye and good humor turned what otherwise could have remained an everyday excursion into a deeply intimate, memorable and fun day that will last in both his images and our minds forever. He captured many candid moments and had perfect suggestions for shots throughout the building where the light was absolutely magical and we looked and felt natural and just plain comfortable in front of the camera.
To top it off, we received all of our hi-​res files the next day via Dropbox along with contacts for printing aaaaand a super cool link that downloaded an iPhone app of his selects onto our phones so we could brag/​share with our friends before we decided what to do with the pics next.
We are definitely looking forward to working with Thor on more projects in the future, and would recommend him to anyone looking for a poised and friendly professional to capture all the most important moments of their big day.

Thor and his wife, Anastasia, were our wedding photographers in April 2011 at The Mountain Winery in Saratoga, CA. We heard about Thor through our good friends who also hired him for their wedding back in 2006. We didn’t really shop around photographers too much since we already knew his work by seeing our friends’ photos, thought his prices were VERY fair and reasonable, and we felt comfortable hiring him because our friends told us such good things about Thor and Anastasia. He was so responsive to all of our email communication, which was KEY because we were planning our wedding from the East Coast. He was also very willing to customize our pricing plan since we only wanted day-​of photos, and decided to fore-​go the engagement photos and albums since we didn’t have time to come to CA from Boston to do the engagement photos, and we weren’t ready to make decisions about what kinds of albums to get at the time — too much to think about when wedding planning, so we figured we’d figure that stuff out later.
We weren’t used to being photographed, and sometimes we didn’t know what to do. Anastasia was great at styling the photos, yelling out poses, and making sure to capture special moments that probably only brides/​women will think to capture. They were fast and efficient when they needed to be, and were willing to run around with us while we rushed to get some photos in before the ceremony. It was also VERY cold and windy the day-​of, and my veil flew off my head and into a tree! I can’t remember whether Thor or Anastasia did this, but one of them immediately dropped what they were carrying, and climbed up the tree a bit to grab it! Another thing that really stood out was when we wanted to take some photos where I would be sitting on a concrete/​stone pillar-​thing, Anastasia actually ran up first before I could sit, and sort of «wiped» the pillar down by sitting down on it herself, and swishing back and forth. I was so appreciative and impressed that she thought of this — I was so caught up in everything else that was going on that I didn’t even think of not wanting to sit down on a stone in my white dress!
Our pictures turned out really awesome. I had several enlarged, and even more framed. They made sure to capture everything that I had wanted to! The only thing that I sort of regret was not making a list of photos I wanted to be sure to capture. I thought it was going to be overkill, since I was already so trusting of them as photographers. But when I saw the photos a few weeks later, I noticed that my husband got a photo with each of his groomsmen, but we somehow forgot to take photos of myself with each of my bridesmaids. We also had very few photos of just the girls, while my husband had more photos of him and the boys. Part of it was my own responsibility though — we were rushing around a little because we had tried to cram too much in too short of a time. If I had a list, and even if it was overkill, we could have been more organized about it and made sure to get those pictures. But all in all, I am still VERY happy with the end-​product, and will continue to recommend Thor and Anastasia for our future friends’ weddings!

These guys are awesome. They where very cool to have at our wedding and the pictures are great and abundant. I highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed.

Thor and his wife, Anastasia photographed our engagement session and wedding ceremony/​reception (on 9÷24÷2011 @ St. Dominic’s Church and the Italian Athletic Club) in SF. We first found Thor via a recommendation we got from Luke’s brother — Thor had photographed his brother’s wedding about 3 years ago and we absolutely loved all the photos.
Thor has been extremely responsive to all of our communication, and was very thorough in detailing our contract. He is extremely reasonable in price, especially compared to other photographers in the area who did not offer as much in their packages.
In terms of the photographs (both engagement and wedding), Thor did an amazing job! He and his wife were able to capture every moment in detail — Thor knows how to get the most out of any space in his shots. More importantly, we did not feel like we were being chased by paparazzi — Thor and Anastasia were able to catch all of the great shots quickly and non-​obtrusively.
We couldn’t be happier with the end product — all of the photos are absolutely beautiful and we are looking forward to creating our album! I highly recommend Thor Swift Photography!!!

A friend of ours recommended Thor and we are so happy we took her advice! Our wedding (and engagement) photos are truly beautiful. Thor has an ability to capture the perfect light in every photo; each one is a work of art. On our wedding day, Thor and his wife Anastasia made the two of us, who are not used to being photographed so much, very comfortable. During other weddings I’ve attended in the past, I’ve joked that it seems like the photographers are the paparazzi, always in the way and in everyone’s face. Thor and Anastasia somehow managed to stay in the background while still capturing every shot we wanted. Not only are they great at what they do, they are also really great people. Thor Swift and his wife Anastasia photographed our wedding in SF on 5÷22÷11. They were both fabulous.
My husband, Gary Fisher, has been photographed by many photographers in his life and I used to be a photographer so we were quite selective about who would shoot our wedding. We reviewed upwards of 50 different photographer’s websites and met in person with 5 photographers before deciding on Thor Swift.
Thor is a tried and true photographer, in the old school sort of way. He shoots for the NY Times, he’s unobtrusive, and always at the ready. In the competitive and talented sea of photographers in San Francisco, Thor Swift stands out.
Thor met us at our apartment on several occasions, to plan together how the day would go. We planned a bicycle procession from the church to the reception across town at the Cliff House on Ocean Beach. Thor was not only game for the adventure, I think he and Anastasia had as much fun as we did!
In the end, we have wonderful photos from our wedding. Thor and Anastasia were calm and loose. They both have a beautiful eye and a wonderful presence. As icing on the cake, our wedding was featured in the SF Chronicle Style section just a week after our wedding.

It was a great experience working with Thor and his wife, Anastasia, on our reception on 1÷29÷2011. They arrived on time and accommodated to our special request of taking pictures of us in our house and with our cat (s). They were very passionate, friendly, and easy to work with. They kept the shoot loose and fun. They had great ideas for poses and set-​ups for memorable pictures. They took terrific pictures of our reception as well. They were very organized in determining the group pictures so that no one was missed. Anastasia was very caring and went above and beyond caring for the bride in the wet weather.
We received proofs of our photos and CDs very quickly, and we are looking forward to creating our album. All of the deliverables are spelled out in the contract, along with detailed instructions for the next steps. Thor was also very responsive to communications by email. We were really satisfied with the deliverables and we are very happy to have had them participate in our reception. We look forward to working with them again in the future!

I’d worked with Thor professionally on shoots before, and when I it came time for engagement and wedding pictures, I didn’t even consider anyone else. Right choice. Thor put me and my fiancé (now wife) at ease every time he shot us, and made the experience fun, when it could have been awkward. Both the engagement shots (taken in Golden Gate Park) and the wedding shots (University Club) are terrific — copious, capturing details and using the natural lighting of each environment in beautiful ways. And he and Anastasia were able to really capture the mood of the people and the place. He’s prompt, easy to work with, and takes some of the best pictures around. Hire him.

Thor and Anastasia were wonderful. They put my husband and I at ease and captured everything without being obtrusive. There are so many amazing photographs to chose from, it’s taken us months to decide which ones to include in our book. I seriously love the photos more and more everyday.

Thor Swift took wonderful photographs of my daughter’s wedding. They are more than pictures. It’s like having a beautiful magazine! So colorful, so vivid, so bright! I highly recommend Thor. He has become a very close friend who does wonderful work.

Thor and Anastasia were recommended to us by a friend when we were shopping for a wedding photographer for our August wedding… we lucked out! When meeting Thor (who is very straightforward and thorough, qualities you definitely want in a photographer), we liked him and his photographic style immediately and were happy to have made one of the biggest decisions around our wedding.
At Thor’s suggestion (and as part of our package), we had an engagement shot session, which was a terrific way to see what to expect on our wedding day, as well as, what we liked or didn’t like about his work. Thankfully, we liked it all!
The day of the wedding was incredible. Facing facts, it’s not natural for most of us to have big cameras focused on us… it feels funny. Thor and Anastasia made us comfortable very quickly, which has to translate into better pictures. They are genuinely nice, funny and easy to be around… they are also dedicated and conscientious and their work reflects that. We couldn’t be happier with our wedding pictures!

We had Thor photo our wedding back in the summer of 2008. He and his wife went well beyond the call of duty. We had two weddings and celebrations in the same day (both a white western wedding and a hindu wedding). We absolutely could not be happier with the results.
He really gets as high a recommendation as I can give.

Thor was our engagement photo photographer as well as my wedding photographer. I have been in a ton of weddings, let’s just say my nickname should be 27 dresses. But through all the weddings I have seen some BAD, complicated photographers and Thor and Anastasia have been my all time favorite! I have been a bridesmaid and a bride with them and I still love them. Super creative and easy going, they my special day even more perfect!

We used Thor and Anastasia for our wedding on January 24, 2009 and they were fabulous! I don’t think there are enough words to describe how wonderful they were to work with! Thor has an amazing eye and captured our wedding from beginning to end with the utmost beautiful pictures. From the biggest detail to the smallest ones, he captured it all.
In addition to being a great photographer, we had so many of my guests complimenting Thor and Anastasia. He wasn’t like other photographers, they were not intrusive, he’s in the background getting that perfect shot — which he does effortlessly. They are two of the sweetest and funniest people you will ever meet. Anastasia was with my wife in the church before walking down the aisle, her nerves were kicking into high gear and she just made her smile. Our guests raved about how pleasant and funny they were during our family shots.
We wanted our wedding pictures to tell a story and we weren’t looking for all of the pictures to be the traditional «pose and smile». Thor provided the photojournalist quality that we were looking for.
We are now in the process of selecting our pictures and Thor has been a tremendous help with helping us select the right ones for our album. He truly has an artistic vision and when we look at our pictures, all we can do is smile.

I cannot say enough about Thor and Anastasia. They were so amazing and really listened and took care of me and the groom. I highly reccomend them. I agree with everything Jessie W wrote.
