TPC Harding Park

Was chipping and putting in the practice area when a buddy of mine rolled by in his car and announced that he had the first tee time and would I like to play in the first group out.
Yeah why not as I’m a resident and can get out for $ 53.00.
Not on a Tuesday morning according to K. C. EVANS the golf shop coordinator because as I was now part of a group that had reserved a tee time in advance the rate would be $ 63.00. Hmmm, I mentioned to the chap that the whole point of having a resident card was to get the resident rate. He responded that if one person in the group pays the $ 10.00 advance reservation fee then all have to pay. Okay, I said then put me on the sign up sheet as a single waiting to go out. He responded that he hadn’t started one yet and was going to send out the first group as a threesome minus me!
Is this guy a jackass? Why the friction? Why the toady and argumentative behavior?
Where is a customer service attitude that wants to penalize, cause disruption, create bad karma and generally be an asshole! Well I guess that some people just have it as a natural part of their DNA. Probably it was just as well that I did not pay as I heard similar negative comments from other golfers about this particular employee so consequently have a faint glimmer of hope that K. C. EVANS will be spending some non paid time on customer service training, learning to say please and thank you and recognizing that Idi Amin, Genghis Khan and Adolf Hitler never played golf!

I am a regular there but haven’t played for a few weeks. Hopped on the course yesterday afternoon. To my amazement the course was in terrible condition. There is grass growing in many of the bunkers. The fairways look and play like Omaha Beach on D-​Day. Un-​filled divots everywhere. Weeds growing everywhere. The tee boxes wer shaggy and feels like they haven’t been cut for days. When I asked the starter at the turn (his name was Malcolm) whats going on with the course? Its in terrible shape. his answer was, «…that’s your opinion…». Wow, that’s TPC Harding’s attitude now? Charge the players and arm and a leg and give them crap to play on. I can’t say I’ll be back anytime soon. I’ll stick to the Presidio. Just a warning for everyone…

As a native I enjoy coming here for many reasons but I was disappointed this past weekend to find out that they had taken the Eggs Benedict off the menu. Whyyyyyyyyy!!!

The price keeps it from being 5 star. I think non-​resident during week is about $ 120. Type of place to play couple times a year. One of the great walking courses.
Played yesterday. Penile rough. Yes, I said penile. Rewards hitting clearly defined fairways. Straight ahead golf, no blind shots. Lots of fun. Oddly, has a lot of dogleft left holes so be ready to work your drives or go 3-​wood off the tee.
Front gets a little repetitive with 380 and 400 yard up and back holes to slightly elevated greens. Back provides more challenge and elevation change. Surprised slope from the 6400 white tees only 121. It was hard to hit good shots out of the rough, whereas lesser Bay Area courses you always have a shot. HInt: don’t try to hit fairway woods from the rough here – just choke down on your irons and rip it out. Last hole one of the great finishing ones in Northern California.
Restaurant is nice, range is okay. Staff somewhat helpful. Challenging track, just pricey.

Course was pretty cool. Fun track and a easy walk. HOWEVER, the greens were a serious disappointment, crazy slow, bumpy, and unfixed divots everywhere. As a TPC course I would have thought that green maintenance would be a priority but apparently not here.

I haven’t played the course yet but I’ve gone to the driving range and practiced chipping and putting a number of times. What a great course in a beautiful setting with Cypress Trees all around you and a little pond. It feels like you’re in Monterrey but you’re in the middle of the City.
The Clubhouse has great views of the 18^th hole and it’s standard fare, nothing outrageously great but solid burgers, beers, breakfast but wouldn’t go just for the food.

I was so surprised by the horrendous attitudes of those two stupid staffs at the pro shop, especially the one with dark skin called KC EVANS.
First he ridiculously assumed I had zero experience on golf and kept telling me this club worths $ 200 and this course costs $ 150+ to play. I have no idea where this judgment came from. I was laughing so loud in my stomach — I played golf 100+ round a year within 7 handicap. I just wanted to play with him see how he could carry on his stupid attitude. There is a couple other racist gestures and talks I really don’t feel comfortable and don’t even bother to type in. On the other hand, I still don’t get it how come a guy worked in a golf shop for living carrying such huge pride — good for him.
I read the reviews on Unilocal — not so surprised I found I’m not the only one who had similar experience. TPC was a big brand in my mind. I just can’t believe how they could let such a racist idiot jeopardize their reputations.
Truly unbelievable and offensive experience.

We stopped by this golf course and encountered some rude, racist staff in the store. They would practically stared at you as if they think you will steal their junks. Looser place looser staff.
They dont make me feel welcome to return. Are they stuck up now because they are TPC?
No wonder why a lot of people are leaving the game. Dealing with stuck up racists can ruin your vacation.

Great course for the locals. An easy course to walk and everybody does; you can get a cart but it’s cart path only. Pace of play is usually decent since everybody is walking but it’s never great unless you go out early. There is a decent but small chipping/​putting area and a large practice putting (only) green. The driving range is mats and terrible balls but a good way to warm up before a round.
I’m giving Harding 4 stars because I find it crazy that they provide no water on the entire course. Last time I played it was 90 degrees and my group was rationing water until we could make it back to the clubhouse since we hadn’t seen a cart lady in 8 holes. As soon as TPC stops withholding water to, I assume, upsell drinks on the course I’ll change this to 5 stars which is what I otherwise think of Harding.

Awful place. Very rude staff. Badly behaved people. Low quality club. Only good for losers who try to look pretty by going to a «golf club»

Me and my buddy came here in the last week of March as a part of our golfing trip. They were just setting up for the WGC Matchplay so instead of teeing off on 1 we teed off on 10 the par 5.
Course was in perfect condition, fairways were perfect but the greens were a little slow. I think this was in preparation for the event. Food in the adjoining restaurant was ok nothing to write home about.
My only gripe was the people running and walking as they enter and exit the park as you are teeing off on 18^th. Hard to tee off with so much traffic, especially for guys who may spray the ball and accidentally hit someone.
A little high for people out of town ($ 180) but definitely a course worth playing if you are in the area and price is not a major concern.
Shot an 81 so definitely a memorable round from my point of view. :-)

Played here 2 weeks after the WGC match play when pricing was still a little higher (due to better course conditions?) The course is a fun track and can be a test from the blue tees but what was most disappointing were the greens which were smooth but slower than molasses and had a lot of pitch marks that had not been replaced. Fairways were good, rough was punitive but not impossible and a couple of bunkers could have stood a little more sand in them.
Overall the course is fun to play and as mentioned before a pretty good test for all levels of golfer.

I was ringing to see if I could book a tee time for today Monday 25^th. I was placed on hold by Melissa for ten minutes, hung up rang back and Melissa answered the phone again this time no hold. I told her I was waiting for ten mins, no apology just asked what I needed… Bit rude. Anyway asked if I could book tee time for the afternoon, she said same day bookings were not available, I asked about the online booking she said in a deeper tone same day booking were not allowed. I prefer to book over the phone directly. Did the online thing and booked for the same day… Read a few reviews and arrogance and the feeling of they think they are better than everyone else because they got a few tournaments seem to trending… Anyway nice course bit pricey if you don’t have a residents card 4* for the course, but the exchange with Melissa –3*… Work on yer customer service 1*

Such a close drive, and now a memorable moment, at the Cadillac match play event with @r_dub_flo and we both almost gets hit with @rorymcilroy 12 hole shot vs Jim. Great times!!!

Let me qualify this review by stating that I was a golf professional for 5yrs at a high end resort in Orlando. I now play 100+ rounds a year and most USGA Qualifiers since leaving the golf industry and gaining my amateur status back. This will be somewhat uncomfortable of a review, but lets go.
The inside staff was very accommodating as I was playing as a guest since I am a member at another TPC property. They allowed me to pair up and tee off early since there is no driving range open. I went and checked in with the starter and he was great. He paired me up while I rolled some practice putts and off we went.
The layout was great and the scenery was amazing, there is no denying that. Also I won’t complain about the gun range or noise as this us a busy metro area and one cannot realistically expect silence in this environment.
The greens were sooo slow it was almost a joke. They look fantastic and they are healthy but they could not have ran more than a 6 or so on the stimp meter. Not to mention there was a temporary green on #3 that the staff neglected to mention at check in. For over $ 100 a round this was pretty comical.
Lastly their course advisor/​maintenance person John was a less than tactful individual and who more concerned with scolding me for playing the tips than keeping the groups ahead of us moving. (there were no signs or notices that the back tees were closed).
Overall the layout and photo ops were superb, but the conditions, service, and communication need some serious work/​improvement.
If a $ 100+ muni is what your looking for then this is your home! Please do not expect the same facilities, conditions, or service that you are used to at other TPC Properties. (Stonebrae, Las Vegas, Scottsdale, SanAntonio, etc) The TPC moniker here is very misleading and in no way indicative of the experience you will have.
Would I recommend a friend? NO
Will I play there again? If I had confirmation things have changed, but Im not paying that much to putt on glorified fairways again.

TPC Harding Park is an absolute gem of a course to play golf. It’s hands down my favorite course to play in the Bay.
Location: The course is located just south of the City, so it’s a great place for both tourists and locals. I live in the south Bay, so it takes me a while to get up there, but in my opinion, it’s worth it. Also, I obviously don’t have to go clear into the city.
Clubhouse: The clubhouse is very nice; at the higher end of clubhouses around. The restaurant is good for a bite, they have free WiFi, and the pro shop is stocked with good merchandise if you need to take a TPC Harding Park souvenir home. Prices are okay for a TPC clubhouse… felt about on par.
Driving Range: The range leaves something to be desired, but I think the course itself makes up for it and then some. The range is mats, it’s small, and it’s not very deep. I would probably just plan on hitting a small bucket of irons before your round, but hey you do what you gotta do.
Course: The course is spectacular. It’s layout is really built for walking. Let me be clear that I much prefer, and almost always do, ride versus walk. However, the course layout, and the fact that it’s cart path only, kind of makes your understand why the majority of folks walk. There are definitely carts available, and if someone like my dad comes to play, we definitely grab a car. In general, though, if you’ve thought it might be fun to walk a course, this is the one. The fairways and greens are beautiful, and the scenery is so good.
Price: Harding Park is definitely not cheap, but it’s also a pretty good deal for being just south of the City and in the Bay Area as a TPC course. Plus, to give you an idea of how good the course is, the US Open and President’s Cup are being played there in the coming years. That’s just sick nasty. I typically get there for twilight as it’s a bit more affordable, and I get another break being a Bay Area County resident. The SF city residents get the prime price reduction… lucky dogs!

Some call it the poor man’s Olympic Club which is located across the lake. Improvements over the years have made it more pricey but there are still great deals for residents and junior golfers.
The course just underwent a 4 month reconstruction of the greens and they are terrific.
The 9 hole Fleming course is good for beginning-​intermediate golfers.
Those new to Northern California golf will find the greens to be small and the fairways to be narrow compared to what you might find in the Midwest. You won’t find many cities which have as many world class golf course within its limits, and TPC Harding is one of them.

One of the Best Courses in the Bay Area. I will make time to play this course when ever my golfing buddies can get a decent tee time. We got a $ 99 rate on a Master Card TPC promotion which includes greens fees, cart. lunch and a $ 25 gift card for the pro shop. Great deal …
We had a 8:18 am tee time, never saw the group in front of us or behind us. The course is in immaculate condition. The weather was cool and overcast but this is usual for Harding Park.
