Trumaker

I have purchased shirts from a outfitter and the service was great, my problem is the quality of the product for what you pay for it. If this is supposed to be a custom fit then is should not shrink as much. The shirts I brought all shrunk after one wash and the fit was then different. I think they need to step up the quality of the product.

I’ve been a Trumaker customer since August 2013. Almost every button-​up shirt I own is a Trumaker shirt. They’ve got me as a customer for life.
My outfitter, Julie, has always gone above and beyond to make sure that my shirts are always the perfect fit and that I’m more than satisfied with my purchases. But Trumaker’s service goes beyond that.
They redid my shirts when I gained a bunch of weight (the good kind) shortly after my very first order. When I was having issues with a certain button model, they rebuilt the affected shirts with fresh new buttons. I’ve never seen any company go to such great lengths to make their customers happy.
Ridiculously excellent and professional service aside, their shirts are fantastic (can’t speak to their pants etc because I haven’t bought any… yet). There’s a wide variety of materials, colors, and styles to choose from, and you’ve always got the ability to customize the heck out of everything (pockets, plackets, pleats)!
My next Trumaker adventure: Suits!

Very unprofessional company. First things first, the shirts are way too expensive and they are «supposed» to be custom fit to your measurements. My fiancé just ordered a shirt and it came out completely wrong (how does that happen when you have exact measurements). And to make it worse, their SF employee Bri met my fiancé at the bar to give him a shirt. Extremely unprofessional way to deliver shirts to their clients. What kind of company lets their employees be so unprofessional and go to the bar for a beer while their on the clock. Very frustrated and pissed off. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They obviously have no company values that they stand by nor have control over their employees.

Trumaker does a great job keeping my wardrobe up to date. The custom measurements are really well done and the outfitters put in the extra effort to make sure everything fits great. As the product line has expanded I have continued to get personalized service from my outfitter, Lindsay Jones, in Los Angeles!
I’ve been a customer for almost 2 years and will continue buying from them for a long time!

Been buying from them since 2013. I could never find a shirt that fit and it seemed to get worse over time as America has grown larger as «off the rack» sizing seemed to grow right along with it. I am slim and i always felt like i was swimming. I now get all my shirts from them and added a couple of blazers. The early days had a few «startup» hiccups but they seemed to have gotten past that.
The website can be a bit buggy at time.

A friend on the west coast recommended Trumaker to me. I was skeptical at first, but the service and quality of the product are second to none. Don’t let the price dissuade you ;)

I went in for a fitting with Julie. She was efficient but incredibly friendly, while remaining totally professional. She made the whole thing a lot less awkward than I was expecting… I’m generally not the biggest fan of people taking a measuring tape to every part of me. But this worked.
Oh, and her taste in clothes is top-​notch. I like that she didn’t pressure me to get anything but told me what she thought would work on me. I wound up with a couple shirts at my doorstep that were made just for me that I love. (Extra points for the monogram inside the collar!)

About a year and half ago I ordered my first trumaker clothing. A shirt for work. Friends told me how getting a built to order shift was the way to go. They noted it will make you just feel different. It will bring confidence. You will never go back to a store bought shirt.
I decided to give it a try and just this week actually donated all old store bought (bannana, j crew, etc) shirts because I realized they have just been sitting in the closet. I LOVE the trumaker shirts. For work or play they are perfect. People constantly compliment me that I have lost weight, or looking more fit. In fact nothing has changed. It is just the shirts.
I found the costumer service outstanding. I even ordered a shirt for my dad in DC and he noted the experiance he had with the outfitter was incredible as well. Very kind, pilot, up front and honest. Your first shirt may not fit right, the first or second time. But they have alway been quick to fix it and now that I have my measurements just right ordering additional is a piece of cake. Their faulkner shirt is probably my all time favorite. It was more money but DEFINITELY worth it. Love being casual in it or dressing up for a nice date night.
Recently deicded to try a custom suit from them. Equally blown away. I had been researching built to order suits elsewhere and companies wanted 2500+. Trumaker did it for 1000 less!
All in all this is one of the best things I have come across. I don’t know why everyone doesn’t use their products. I am surprised by the reviews that indicate the quality of the product is lacking. I actually find them really high end no matter if I choose the 98 dollar shirt or the 200 shirt.

It’s a bit surprising to see such mixed reviews since my experience has been so good. Let’s get a few things out of the way:
Good: Customer experience has been solid. Outfitter was responsive and not pressuring in her consultation, gave me thoughtful feedback and opinions. Clothing came on schedule and fit nicely.
Bad: Website has a lot of glitches that need to be worked out (i.e. hard to see which coupons or codes are actually being applied on the checkout). They use paper forms in the fitting session — might need to invest in a better digital app, Trumaker. Prices are a little high for what you get.
Unique: Trumaker had a fitting session with a cool digital scanner that they invited me to and provided beers while I browsed their lines. Awesome event! Their showroom in downtown SF is also pretty sweet — I’d love to have an apartment like that place.
So overall, my thoughts are the prices should come down a bit for what you get but otherwise I like it!

I had a great first experience with Trumaker. My outfitter (Christie) had great taste, honest feedback, and was a pleasure to hang out with. Follow-​up was prompt, and when I received my first shirt and it didn’t fit (a bit snug post-​holidays), it was totally painless to get a no-​charge adjustment. They just sent me a new shirt and I sent them back the original.
In both cases the shirt arrived in less than two weeks, and this one fits absolutely perfectly. I’ve never had a shirt fit right in every way. I have long arms and always have issues with the cuff, especially when reaching. Apparently my left arm is longer than my right, too. This shirt is perfect. Can’t wait to get another. Thank you Christie and Trumaker!

This was a great decision for me. I went to get some new shirts that are casual enough to go out but still nice. I wanted something that I didn’t need to tuck in, but still looked good. I went to see Julie at Trumaker who took my measurements, she was great, really added to the experience. After having a closet full of shirts I don’t wear I was excited to get some I knew would look good. The first shirt came a few weeks later, best shirt I’ve ever had, hands down. I got 5 of them, they all fit perfectly. Can’t recommend Trumaker and Julie enough.

Prior to discovering Trumaker the mere thought of heading to the department store to shop for clothes brought back painful memories of shopping with my mother when I was thirteen. Assuming my mother never gets a side job at Trumaker, my shopping nightmares have been quelled as I never have to set foot inside a store — they make it super easy. The clothes I bought are tremendous and I couldn’t be happier with my overall experience. I may still have mother issues, but at least I look good when I go to therapy…
My experience started with a referral from a friend and I sort of went through the motions not really expecting much. But shopping with Trumaker is sort of like shopping with that cool hot friend that you always wanted more from but were happy just to have their advice on what looks good. My stylist Julie made the whole experience super easy. We met, and she first asked me some questions about what I liked and my style. Since I had neither a style nor knew what I liked, she really took a lot of time showing me some ideas. From there my new style sort of magically emerged and before I knew it I had some fantastic new shirts and sweaters at my front door. They both fit great. I’ve seen a lot of reviews about the positives of the fabric which I’ll agree with but for me it really comes down to the overall experience — the ease and the people I’ve interacted with can’t be beat.

Total flakes. The emailed me to schedule an appointment and I replied promptly. 2 days later, still no response.
I texted the person on the email, Maggie, to ask if our appointment was still on. She said yes. I immediately sent a follow-​up text and she didn’t reply at all. Ended up not showing up for an appointment.
Pretty hard to believe they can’t even bother to respond to emails and text messages.

I hate writing negative reviews.
At first I was extremely excited about Trumaker. My initial contact was great. And the fit of the shirts are great.
However, the quality for the price is extremely poor. I am sure there are other places that make custom made shirts is better quality for similar prices.
The woman who did my fitting is nice, beautiful, funny. But didn’t get my order correct. And showed up late for me to try on my first shirt
I received my second batch of shirts and the order was wrong. In the box there were no return labels and it took a while to hear back from someone and order to fix the shirts. Then print out the labels send the product back etc etc. I am pressed for time so this was a hassle for me.
Now I am waiting another 2 weeks or more to receive the correct poor quality shirts with a good fit. Seems to be much more of a hassle than not.
Step up your game Trumaker. I can see the potential but the application is lacking.

I’m actually surprised by the negative reviews, because I’ve had great experiences with Trumaker. I’ve been ordering shirts over the last six months and just ordered some slacks and a jacket. The shirts fit and look great and I instantly get compliments when I wear them. I’m excited to see how the slacks fit.
My outfitter is Alex Suppan in Denver. She has outstanding customer service skills and stays in close contact with me several times a month (even when I’m not buying anything). She comes to my office for fitting appointments and is prompt to the minute. Alex clearly knows what she is doing — both how to correctly measure and about her products. While she lets me know what deals Trumaker has going on, she doesn’t oversell and is brutally honest about styles and colors she doesn’t think will look good on me.
All in all, I’ve had an awesome experience and have recommended Trumaker to my dad and brother-​in-​law.

I really wanted to like Trumaker. I had recently moved to SF and was looking for a cool place to get custom weekend shirts.
My fitting was pretty good but a bit of a hassle to schedule. I alos felt a little pressured by the salesperson to order a lot more shirts than I wanted but I guess that’s sales 101.
Anyway, I ended up ordering 4 or 5 shirts (can’t remember exactly). I was excited and looking forward to my new gear — but this is where the good feelings ended.
It took WAY longer to receive the shirts. They didn’t fit the first or second time — not even close. On top of that, I wasn’t impressed by the material. For the price, I expected much better quality.
My fitter was nowhere to be found and it literally took at least 10 calls and emails to get any response from the company. I ended up canceling the order altogether and asking for a refund. From start to finish it took about 6 months from my initial consultation, to have the shirts screwed up a 3 different times to finally getting my money back. A really frustrating experience.
Pretty good concept but very poor execution and client service.

Terrible service. Can’t reach anyone via phone.
I had an appointment scheduled which no one showed up to. No call, no notice, no show. What a waste of time.

nightmare experience… awful cloth, sloppy workmanship and a disgrace to internet shopping.

Trumaker is a Fantstic company! The shirts are stylish, perfectly fitting, and the outfitters are extremely nice and knowledgable! ²⁄₃ weeks for custom shirts is very reasonable timing, all my shirts came out with the exact same cuts. Trumaker is always adding new shirt fabrics and an online reorder system makes it easy to keep buying month after month! I Highly recommend this company!
Alex Suppan is my outfitter in Denver. She has taken care of me for a year and a half now and I couldn’t be more pleased. She always makes sure I am happy with the product and checks in often to see how I am doing. Her customer service is something you only ever read about. She responds to my calls and emails so fast and I always trust her judgement on styling. I would recommend her to anyone in the Denver area who is looking to upgrade their wardrobe!

This place is terrible. On paper it sounds awesome and they have some beautiful looking fabrics, but the service is shockingly bad.
It takes a long time for orders to arrive as others have said, but that’s not all. After I approved my first shirt I went ahead with 3 more. EACH one of them came back cut differently, and when I emailed support I had to go through several more weeks providing photo documentation and angry emails until – finally – they sent me properly cut shirts.
They gave me $ 100 credit and since I liked the woman who did my fitting so much I decided to take a chance on a jacket. Now SEVEN weeks later they can not confirm when the jacket will arrive and are already 8 days past the promised shipping date. I have a big business trip to go on where I need to look my best and now will have to go elsewhere. I wish I had 2 months ago. Would have saved me a headache.
AVOID.

I was really excited about Trumaker when I first learned of it as I’m not an easy to fit size off the rack and always need shirts shortened/​altered for proper fit. The process was fine but a little difficult to schedule as there’s only one rep in NYC (that I’m aware of) and the company does not have a dedicated showroom here. But the rep could not have been any nicer or more accommodating — no complaints there. But for all the effort that went into measuring, ordering, reviewing the myriad fabric options, etc. I expected a much higher quality shirt than I received. And it wasn’t a perfect fit either. After just a few washes (even air-​drying, as recommended) my first shirt looks old and the fabric is very thin. I’m very disappointed with the product and cancelled the rest of my order.

I was referred to Trumaker by a friend, decided to try it and had a great experience. I love the fabrics, styling, custom fit, and the fantastic service from my local outfitter.
I started by creating an account at
and requested an appointment. I was contacted by Heather (an outfitter who lives in my area) to arrange a convenient time at my office or home.
At the appointment, I showed some of my favorite existing shirts and we talked about what I’m looking for. She shared the Trumaker line and took my measurements. She was very helpful and easy to talk with. From this initial consultation, I ordered 2 custom shirts and 2 tshirts to get a sense for how it all works.
Within several weeks, Heather brought me my first custom shirt and made sure it fit as expected — it was perfect. Once confirmed, she initiated the order for the other custom shirt and it came several weeks after that.
I now count my Trumaker shirts among my best loved and look forward to purchasing more over time. I’ve referred many friends as well. Once you have a shirt that fits really well, you understand how good it can be!

I added a star to my original review. Although I feel like my original critiques are still fair and valid, having given Trumaker another shot I decided not all of it is quite the miss I thought it was before. There are some very nice quality shirts mixed in with the overpriced «meh» shirts but most importantly, Trumaker will tirelessly work with you until you have something you really want if you have the time and patience to find it. It’s really cool seeing a company that stands behind their products so passionately.

Horrible experience, I ordered my shirts in Feb and have still not recieved one. The girl who sold them to me has gone radio silence, and my emails and calls to the company the last few days have gone unreturned. I’m honestly shocked to log on here and find out that people have actually recieved clothes from them. I was beginning to think it was a complete scam.
I would honestly at this point just like a complete refund, I am so fed up with this company. I’m assuming the clothes will be abosolute crap as well.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this hassle.

I had high hopes for Trumaker. The outfitter was nice enough and it was great to find a selection of casual fabrics that you cannot find at places like Turnbull Asser, HIlditch and Key, and the typical overseas tailors.
Here’s what I did not like:
— Shirt materials were not of high quality. They wrinkle very easily
— Buttons were not of very high quality
— My orders had too many mistakes that should have been caught before sending

I will start with the positives: They have a wide variety of fabrics and styles. There are some really great patterns as well as the classics that everyone should have in their closet. The convenience of having someone come to your home or office to measure you is really nice. The people that work there are willing to do whatever it takes to make you happy.
The negatives: My first order took a pretty long time to get right, but they did whatever it took to get the shirts right so that I was happy. Now going forward every shirt I order will be perfect.
My first recommendation is do not order more than one shirt on your first order. Even though they said they would make one shirt, check to make sure it fits, and then proceed with making the remaining shirts, they did not follow this procedure and it was quite a hassle to get all four shirts in my initial order to fit right. Order one shirt, make sure you are happy with it and then order as many as you’d like.
Secondly, they have a «watch option» for whatever side you wear your watch on. The amount of room they add to the wrist is not enough to fit my watch, which is a normal size men’s watch. They are going to fix it so that the shirt fits around my watch, but my recommendation would be to just have the tailor measure your wrist while wearing a watch.
Lastly, when you get your shirts, immediately wash and dry them. The shirts shrink quite a bit and Trumaker builds them to account for this. So when you get your shirt for the first time and try it on, it will seem quite big. But once you wash and dry it, it should fit perfectly.
