Tsang Wellman, MD

Been going to Dr. Tsang for many years now.
He is a very smart guy who is always careful about analysis, just as any good doctor should be.

Dr. Wellman Tsang is a doctor who is definitely knowledge, but is careless because he doesn’t make sure patients are covered with a medical coverage before making the proper recommendations financially and healthwise.
At my first visit, he recommended I get tested for everything that he could think of, such as HEP B, HEP A and whatever else the 14 vials of blood that was withdrawn from me were for. He sent me to CPMC to get tested, but failed to inform me to either check with my insurance company or ask his staff to check for me. I ended up finding out that my insurance did not cover any of the expenses and needed to pay $ 1200 for tests I really didn’t need! I was upset, because I think that this was irresponsible practice. Maybe I should of called the insurance company myself before I went, but the least the doctor or any of his staff could of done was warn me a little.
I later went to another doctor and asked Dr. Tsang’s staff to release my records after I filled out the appropriate documents, but this never happened. 6 months later, I still don’t see the records. I guess it’s time to make a trip down there and ask for the documents to be handed to me by myself. Poor service and poor care for their patients. Even with all the wisdom that Dr. Tsang has in his many years of practice can not convince me to go back to his office.

I was with Dr. Tsang for many years, and overall, it was a very good experience.
He is thorough, and he took my concerns seriously. On several occasions, he referred me for further tests just to make sure everything was okay. He has a pleasant bedside manner, and he takes the time to explain things well.
I only had a problem with Dr. Tsang once. He recommended a treatment which I declined. I made my decision after carefully weighing the options, but he seemed to feel that his recommendations should always be followed.
I never had a complaint about his staff; they always treated me well. The office always ran behind, but so does every doctor’s office I’ve been to.

I had my first visit to Dr. Tsang lately. My friend referred me to see one of his associates but she’s not taking any new patient. I can say that it’s not easy to make a quick appointment in Dr. Tsang’s office but I’m okay to wait for a general checkup. He came in with a laptop and started explaining the trends of technology in the medical field. Honestly speaking, the talk on this was so long but I guess that it’s his technique to let the patient to relax and create a friendly atmosphere. He asked me for my family medical history, my eating habits, my concerns on health, my previous pregnancy… It’s really just like talking to friend. He even remembered the visit of my husband who went there 1 week ago as well as his medical situations. Maybe my hubby’s appearance is easily to identify but it’s impressive for a busy doctor to recall one of his patients.
One unpleasant thing of his practice is his staff. They cannot be more cooler, no facial expression, flat tone, not friendly and helpful. I felt like that I was talking to robots. But, I recalled that the one who answered my call to make appointments for both my husband and me was very friendly and helpful on the phone. Just wonder who is her?

Dr. Tsang is what you would want in a GP doctor, deftly handling the small stuff and monitoring it in case a change in the direction of care is needed towards a specialist or a hospital.
I will say the rooms show that the place is converted into a medical facility, they can be uninviting.
I have found the staff to be unremarkable, but I don’t got there often so maybe I missed their bad days.
