GROSSSS! I I came here out of desperation in a pinch and barely touched my food. Green beans are good for you ONLY if they’re not doused in grease. I don’t like chinese food because of places like this. I came very close to marching back in there and suggesting that they steam their vegetables rather than sauteeing in a truckload of oil. Absolutely disgusting.

Now it’s Uni’s deli. The dishes are EXACTLY the same but they taste better and the lady is very cheery and smiley. Me likey! Salads(including fruit) are fresh and rolls are made daily. …and they have Thai iced tea. A nice improvement! Good job! UPDATE: they widened the offer with mapo-doufu, bahn-mi and other yummies

I rarely put a 1 star review but I just came from this deli yesterday and just like previous reviews. I don’t know why I keep on coming back to this place whne I’ve had nothing really poor experience here. The servers are nice and kind but the food is a problem. It appears appetizing at first glance but you’ll find that it really taste awful… either you’ve got too much salt or the other way around. The vegetables are overcooked and the sometimes they would give you more of the overcooked veggies and not much meat. I also see their health code report and I hope they have done something to that. I keep a close eye on their health score but I did not see their card yesterday.

I usually stick to the Vietnamese sandwiches(always the tofu). Every time I’ve swayed my body has punished me. But being close to the hospital should never be underestimated as a selling point. Just avoid the hot food. Please.

This place has had an issue with consistency during the last two years. Most days, the Vietnamese salads are really fresh and contain a great balance of fresh cabbage or lettuces, radish, carrot, peanut & meat. Other days, it looks like someone scraped together the last bits of food from the sink drain, poured some fish sauce on it and served it to an unknowing sucker. Today, I was that sucker. My salad was disgusting. For $ 3.50, their salads are usually a great healthy bargain … something that’s a real treat in the SF General Hospital area where there is NOTHING to eat that seems a safe option. Three stars, hoping that Tweety will get it’s act together. They’re awfully nice and waaaaaaaaay less scary than the thuggy dudes hanging out in front of the bodega a block away. UPDATE: 3.7.07 — Beef Vietnamese salad was AWESOME!

Sometimes I walk into this place and wonder why I come back. The Chinese food kinda sucks and I hate Tweety bird. But its close to work so it gets 2 stars.

I love Vietnamese and I live quite close so I really wanted to like this place. It’s also very cheap, so I thought that if I just kept investigating I would eventually find something good. It never happened. Every dish I tried was so overwhelmingly mediocre I couldn’t finish it, no matter how hungry I had been initially. It’s food that starts out unimpressive and heads quickly downhill from there. I genuinely can’t understand how they’re able to make it so consistently bland. Still, two stars for being friendly and reasonably clean. If you’re at the hospital and starving, it’s unlikely to kill you. I only wish they’d taste the stuff while cooking it.

well, it’s cheap. i guess that’s a good thing. if you work by general hospital, then you know there’s slim pickings out here. tweety is OK. i think their vietnamese salads are pretty good. oh, and they sell baked bbq pork buns for 95cents.
