Underglass Custom Framing

I got three prints mounted in frames that my dad made. It was not cheap, but the results were gorgeous. I’ve since started learning how to mount art and it’s helping me understand the prices, because it is not easy by any means. These folks do a very professional job. Good customer service too.

Let’s just get the elephant in the room out of the way i.e. good framing is expensive. But you’ll never regret getting your favorite piece (s) framed by «framing whisperer» Micah. He has a phenomenal eye and will make whatever your artwork is look museum-​ripe amazing.

The guys were very friendly and knowledgeable. I’ll pick up the finished piece this week (hopefully) and inform if I would recommend and/​or go again for my next project.

Fantastic work (thank you, Micah!) I’m a collector of antique paintings and I wouldn’t trust anybody else. The price is well worth it.

Short Review: Pricey but excellent quality and taste level. Best used for higher quality or cherished special items.
Long Review: I had found a really cool letter signed by napoleon that had been water damaged. I had a conservator repair it. She did an amazing job and recommended Underglass for framing… why not follow the advice of the experts?
I walked into underglass like a street person… fleece pants, old tshirt (probably voodoo donuts). They did not judge me, looked at the document and started to throw down suggestions. This was my fault as you should probably go in and tell them your budget.
Needless to say I nodded to all these beautiful things they were going to do. Out comes the calculator…3k…Holy Josephine… Mon dieu. They had suggested an expensive gold leaf, handmade in Italy frame. Let’s start over…1.8k…don’t I look like a homeless crack zombie or Howard Hughes with Kleenex boxes???
I finally got a great frame, awesome mating, unique and beautiful mounting…$ 900…Yes it ain’t cheap Pete’s…but the finished product could be put in a museum.
Underglass custom framing does truly spectacular work and for that labor of love expect to pay more!

Worked with the guys at Underglass to frame about twenty various smaller prints, art photos, and lithographs as well as one very large signed litho. They were superb in both the variety of the selection of mats and framing options, as well as their input on ways of enhancing the framing. We could not be happier with the choices made with their helpful suggestions.
The large signed litho was especially challenging and they worked with us to customize floating frames within frames to absolutely make the artwork «pop.» We could not be more pleased or impressed with their extreme professionalism, as well as their very helpful suggestions. They took great care with all of our pieces which ranged from being sentimentally valuable to being fairly monetarily valuable. We highly recommend Underglass for any art framing needs.

The guys who work here are awesome! I brought in a large rolled canvas painting a few months ago that my husband & I had bought on our honeymoon in Australia. We just wanted to get it stretched over a wooden mount, but they still took a lot of care and time to measure it and stretch it perfectly.
Now we’re getting ready to move across the country, and we weren’t sure of the best way to transport this painting and a couple other large ones that we’ve accumulated over the years. I popped in one day to ask them if they had a suggestion, and they said that they would be happy to wrap them in cardboard for us to protect them during the move. They didn’t even charge us! Now that is amazing customer service, and a reason to establish a relationship with your local frame store instead of just searching around for the lowest price.

They did a fantastic job framing a painting purchased from Jane Siberry. Jane brought the painting and the frame to the shop. A few days later I picked it up.
The framing job is perfect. The staff was extremely helpful and provided hooks for hanging my art.
Parking was easy (street parking) and I was in and out in no time.
I’d certainly come here for future framing needs.

I get all my custom framing done at Underglass. They are true professionals and were really helpful with some of my more difficult projects. I had these old plates that belonged to my grandparents that I wanted to frame in a shadow box and they were very patient and helpful with all the details and took very good care of the plates. They even called me to let me know they had a better idea of how to mount the plates and wanted to make sure I was okay with the new process before they did it. I was very happy with their work and would come back again.

Underglass did a great job framing an important note for me. I’d give them five stars, but their services are quite expensive.

They did some gorgeous work on vintage frames for me. The frames didn’t have any hardware or glass. On one hand it felt expensive to resuscitate them, but on the other, now they’re more gorgeous than anything new. The shadowbox effect is amazing — ask about it if you have a deep frame.

Expensive. Work was good quality, but they messed up one of my framed pictures and had to do it over. The staff was very nice.
Will not use again because of price.

I took a photo here with no real idea of what I wanted except that I wanted my photo framed. Katie guided me through the entire process and she was very helpful and professional.
My project was ready on time and when I went to pick it up, it was perfect! Katie’s suggestions were spot on and the color matte she chose looks beautiful. I’m very pleased with the quality of work and the price was right for the job. I will absolutely bring my next framing project here!

It was not cheap.
But wow how beautiful my framed photograph is.
I used a large 2′ x 4′ print printed on a somewhat stretchable tough paper that was used for a convention display poster. There were metallic holes that needed to be trimmed on the 4 corners to make the framed version look good.
They did a perfect job of trimming the photograph. It was a frameless version where the photo was wrapped around the frame. I only had to say maybe 2 sentences and they knew exactly what it needed. The frame is perfectly mounted. Perfectly sturdy. The wire has the perfect amount of hang.
If I had an extra $ 1000 then my walls would certainly be adorned with life-​size photos framed exactly the same way.

Whenever I look at it I’ll always remember the woman in Bagan who made it and sold it to me as well as the talented team at Underglass.
As another customer said while I was picking out my frame the two are «in harmony» together. Couldn’t agree more.

Great group of guys that work here. They’ve been very helpful with numerous framing projects, and are reliable too.
Nice that they are easy to get to via the Church Street Station, with lots of restaurants all around them to choose from.

I am waaaaay too picky. I spent nearly 3 hours here selecting the perfect frame and matting for a gift for my sisters wedding. The representative with whom I worked was kind, helpful, and most importantly, PATIENT.
A solid 4-​star for Underglass from a solid 1-​star customer.

I purchased a groupon for this framing store and was appalled at how expensive it was (after the groupon). Perhaps it’s just framing stores in general, but now I have a $ 40 credit to a store that I can not afford to redeem it.
That aside, the lady that helped me was very informative and polite. My $ 35 print just wasn’t worth a $ 300 frame.
