I’ve came here in the past, and decided to bring a friend along this time. I’m never too picky with my hair btw. We walked in around 4 and all the chairs were full, but we were seated promptly. I knew exactly what kind of cut I wanted, but I wasn’t sure would it look good on me since I have so much hair. My friend knew what she wanted too, but she was suggested against it and she told the stylist to cut her hair how he would think it would look good.
I was paired with Yan and usually at most Asian salons you wash your hair first, but since I had so much hair she thought it would be better to cut some off first. I quickly showed her what I wanted and she got the idea, but reminded me it might not look the same because I have so much hair. She told me a length she was going for, and she followed through. She listened to my comments and knew what she was doing. After cutting a good amount of length off, she sent me to wash my hair.
The lady who washed my hair was really nice and she even asked me if I was in pain lol (which I wasn’t). It felt so relaxing when she was washing and massaging my head/​hair. She was friendly and we had some good conversations. She complimented my brows and I was like ayyy brownie points for you. She took the time to blow dry my hair afterwards and she did a good job. Just at some points I felt like the dryer was too close to my head so it felt like it was burning, but nbd.
Yan finished off my haircut and I really liked it. The total was $ 23 without tip and I feel like that’s a good price considering how much goddamn hair I have.
btw: I watched the other stylists cut hair while I was waiting and they all seemed very patient and professional as well. My friend and I really liked her haircut as well.

I had an amazing experience in this saloon, Yan and her crew really know how to take care my hair! I was dying my hair to grey/​purple. Because of my formal color, they had to bleach my hair three times. The shop supposed to close at 7pm, but Yan finished my hair around 8.30 on a Saturday night. She even gave me a hotdog while I was waiting! I love my hair! It’s so awesome! Thank you so much! You should all come here :)

came in for a simple trim. all I asked for was a trim. Yan thins my hair. I stopped her during the process and asked her if she’s thinning my hair. from the look of her face, she knew she was guilty. I told her I didn’t ask for a thin only a trim! she said «your hair is really big» it’s not your decision to make to thin my hair! especially if I said trim only! Beyond pissed. I shouldn’t have paid

Amazing expertise service at not-​so SF prices! Yan cut my hair before and another male hairstylist did as well, both paid special attention to detail. A few months ago I went to get my hair thermal Japanese straightened. I called around to other high-​end salons where they quoted ridiculous prices – some up to $ 500. Then I remembered the service I received here. I dropped by on the way home from work and inquired with Yan about the prices. The prices varied from the different products they’d use. My hair is on the shorter end so i paid a little under $ 200 including tip.
It took 6 hours! Only because I have stubborn curls and they made sure it was stick straight. I’m sure they could’ve rushed and left a few waves but they were amazing and went above and beyond to reach amazing results. I haven’t picked up a hair straighter since! I just wash and go. woo! It’s been such a convenience and a time saver. When I went to Europe, I didn’t have to waste time straightening my hair or worry about the humidity.
Yan and the crew are amazing! I highly recommend this place! It’s hands down the best salon in town!

After being told by the AVEDA institute that they «were fully committed» (oh AVEDA: a company that would probably call a fire raging in their shop a «spontaneous value-​added ritual»), I used Unilocal to find Uniq: the nearest salon open on a Saturday evening.
My stylist Jay was amazing. Quick, precise and very talented. Although he didn’t speak much English and I don’t speak any Chinese, some no doubt comical pantomime on my part conveyed my desired style well enough.
When he sheepishly told me $ 17, I happily paid $ 35. Who knew you could get something for $ 17 in San Francisco these days other than maybe artisianal toast.

Yan was off today so I decided to go with Kenny due to the good reviews and it definitely didn’t disappoint. He was very attentive and sincere and took his time to making my haircut perfect. He saw that I used my phone while he was cutting my hair; instead of getting annoyed, he asked if I needed wifi. I thought that was a nice gesture. And I also liked that he wasn’t pushy about additional services like other asian salons. He recommended me do a hair treatment bc my hair is dry but once I told him next time he was totally fine and didn’t push it. My cut turned out great and would recommend him as well as Yan.

This salon is amazing. I went last year for a cheap trim. They take their time and the place doesn’t get overly busy since they are well staffed, so you can definitely walk in. They have tea for customers and a good amount of seating area for those waiting. Knowing Mandarin or Cantonese obviously helps you communicate with the hair stylists for better results, but is not a necessity.
A few weekends ago, I walked in to get my hair cut and dyed. Wilson took care of me. I was getting quite a dramatic length and volume decrease (about 5 inches) so it made sense to cut my hair first to save on hair dye resources (meaning it’s cheaper). He made adjustments little by little and asked me if I wanted to do more layering, cut shorter side bangs, etc. He even blow dried and styled it a bit just to show me how it’d look to make sure I’m satisfied, even though I’d have to wash my hair again later on. The cut took about an hour. Wilson is friendly and clearly experienced. I am so happy that I had him!
Then came the hair dyeing, which another lady did (was not able to get her English name). After the dyeing, I waited for maybe 40min tops before washing the hair. Then another 30m or so to blow dry again. My previous color was an ombré dark brown to red-​violet that was starting to fade out to my old light brown shade, so I wanted a darker red-​violet (no ombré). The color came out great, it was a little darker than I expected but I ended up really liking it because the redness would only show up in sunlight. Plus it tends to lighten up after a few washes anyway.
WIlson and the lady recommended me to do the hair straightening perm since I have naturally wavy hair, but didn’t urge me on it like I find some other hair stylists tend to do.
For the amazing quality of both services, it was $ 70 without tip for both the haircut and color. What a steal! I see myself becoming a regular here.

Great price and great service. The stylists are experienced with Asian hair, offered a very affordable bundle, and we were in and out in two hours’ time. There is sometimes a wait as the salon seems quite popular, but luckily my friend and I came in at a good time and only had to wait 15 or so minutes. They even have an iPhone charger in the waiting area.
I wish I lived on the West Coast so I could pay them another visit — alas, I am a Miami resident with access to only overpriced salons.

Very nice service! Highly recommend Uniq Salon. I got my hairs straightened there, Kenny, my hairdresser spent 3 hours doing it, then carefully trimmed my hairs.
I’ve tried different hair salons in SF, I wasn’t satisfied after comparing the price and quality. I guess I finally find mine here. There is wifi, just in case you are bored while waiting.

For the ladies, if you want a nice layered cut, ask for the guy with silver hair! He’s awesome! Definitely a returning customer.

Yan is very nice. She let Raymond know that my son wanted a haircut and also a hair coloring. Full house as always. Raymond seated us. He came back with a hair color sample booklet. We chose the color closest to my son’s selection. Waited an hr. Nice lady did the coloring for my son. They also let me know the color would not be as light because he has dark hair. I was fine with that cause I know it wouldn’t be exactly the color. Plus, I didn’t want them to color it twice because it was my son first hair coloring. Alan helped us translate and also handsome Ken S. who helped out too. Washing and cutting hair was always pleasant for my kid. Raymond know what he is doing. He also explained to me what might look good or better and have great suggestions. Thank you Yan, Raymond, Alan and nice lady who dyed and wash hair. You guys are the best =)

Service was decent and price is very affordable, the haircut itself was fine but not the best I’ve had.

I tried their $ 55 oil treatment, my hair is so soft now! There are two other price options $ 35 & $ 45. The $ 55 included everything that the two others had, especially keratin. They used the product biolace on me. The guy who massaged my head was pretty good, very relaxing.

horrible hair cut experience, just make your friends laughter when u got the hell out there. Please don’t go there, if you going to the funny party, u should go there.

Chill place for inexpensive haircuts.
A couple of old timers can always been seen there, but they also frequently have new stylists that come and go. As expected, they specialize in cutting asian hair-​types, and they usually take their time to focus on the details. I often see other customers (mostly female) doing highlights, or guys dyeing their hair to crazy colors.
All-​in-​all, a family-​style haircut place targeted for the young-​ish asian crowd.

Was going to the Next Station Salon on couple blocks away, I was not going to have some big cut or crazy cut so I ended up there for a hair cut.
I gave 2 stars for Uniq bacause I asked for a simple trim keeping the same style and the length. Try to make things easier so I didn’t mind cutting an inch shorter
but I ended up got 3 inches cut. The hair stylist seemed not very experience and having hard time understanding how I want my hair to be looked like. Now my hair stick up. As a girl I do care my hair more than any other thing. Sorry $ 20 for a cut like that in Chinatown, I could find a better salon. Maybe I was just unlucky, didn’t get a better hair stylist. I wish I Unilocaled them before going there so I can choose those hair stylists recommended by Unilocalers.

Did a wash, cut, blow dry. The young dude who washed my hair was annoying. He tried to converse but was more annoying than anything else. He would say stuff like, oh you work in an office, must be nice. I work here and sometimes I don’t even have a chance to eat. Well little kid, go to school or something. Trying to use the sympathy talk to get more tips?
Yan cut my hair. She had suggestions. Professional places usually do everything with a pair of shears but she used a combination of shears, thinner shears, and trimmer. When drying my hair with blow dryer, she kept say oh your hair is oily and it’s taking a while to dry. Huh? What is that comment suppose to mean? It normally takes me 10 minutes to dry my hair. It’s not your $ 100 quality hair cut, but for this price, it’s pretty good. There are plenty of cheaper places in Chinatown, but she was recommended to me by a friend. I walked away satisfied.
While Yan was cutting my hair, that same annoying kid (who washed my hair) started sweeping the floor. Then he made some stupid comment «wow, that’s a lot of hair on the ground.» I only cut 2 inches off. This kid is annoying & they should fire him.
Also while Yan was cutting my hair, she was closest to the front desk so she kept picking up the incoming calls. This was very concerning because I’d prefer she concentrate on what she was doing to my hair.

Uniq Salon is a pretty great place for an inexpensive haircut. I definitely wouldn’t mind making the journey here again for my next trim.
I came to Uniqu randomly with my roommate for his quarterly wash and trim, and decided to get my hair did while waiting for his cut on a whim.
Uniq did a wash and cut for $ 20 — I ended up tipping them a bit more since they spend a great amount of time washing hair (+ massaging my head), and then trimming it to a perfect length.
Most of the people working here are fluent in Chinese and speak English pretty well, so it was easy to tell them what I wanted. They also love jokingly around with me and giving advice on how to manage my hair.
Since it’s located in Chinatown, it’s slightly annoying to get to. If it were closer by I would definitely make this a go-​to place.

Probably the only place in Chinatown I would get a haircut. After finding out where Ben moved, I started coming here. I usually request Ben since I was following him from his past salons in Chinatown. He would remember the exact cut I would want when I come. Ben I a good stylist who will knows exactly what will work for everyone. Will return in the future for my cuts.

This is the only salon where I get my hair done and I’ve had no regrets! I’ve been coming here ever since this pace as been open along with my girlfriend and we’ve always relied on Yan (The Owner) to cut our hair. She does an amazing and job and she’s very friendly to talk to as well! My girlfriend and I always stick together when we’re getting out hair cut and we always go out to Chinatown and get some grub to eat while we wait. There are times where we would go for a check up and Yan would style my hair for free because we were gonna go out later on. It’s the small things in life that make a huge difference!
The hair washing process, in my opinion, is one of the best aspects of this salon. It’s so relaxing and half the time after their finished washing, my hair already look amazing and I’m reluctant to cut it seeing it like that! They do such an amazing job at it and even gave me a few pointers in what I was doing wrong the entire when I’m at home.
The only products I’ve ever used always came out of this salon and they’re great! There are times where there might not be any left of a specific product, but they always try and hook me up with a product similar to it or order new ones as soon as possible.
All in all, if you’re thinking about getting your haircut, I suggest checking this salon out!
