One of the things I love about seeing Denise is the feeling of intimacy. Rather than being in a busy salon, at Visage it’s your time, and Denise’s focus is on taking care of your skin. She is always very attentive.
I’ve gone to her for makeup, for skin products, and for facials. If there is one thing you do, though, have a facial. I cannot recommend it enough — the experience alone is worth it. It was so calming, soothing, relaxing, with dimmed lights and soft music, that afterwards I literally felt like I’d had a massage. Wonderful!
She had products that I hadn’t seen other places. Some of them were pricier than I’d hoped, but as it turns out those are the ones I use every day and carry with me in my purse. (Perfect example: I already had powder, but Susan Posnick’s Colorflo powder is part of the brush, so no mess. I love it!) I’ve also switched from Obagi to Karin Herzog’s Vita A Kombi 3 and her gentle scrub, both of which I find gentle on my skin.
I was on the fence with the four/​five star rating, but there are some products that I purchased and have found I don’t use much. That’s probably my fault, because I really wanted to try new things, but at the same time I don’t think I had a realistic understanding of what to expect from some of the products. There are just common cosmetics that I never really used, so when I was in Visage I did not have a sense of what they might do or not do for me.
I think it’s helpful if you have a sense of what you want, but if you’re able to, it’s also fun to try out new products to see how they work for you.
I will definitely see Denise again.

Visage is owned by Denise Spanek. She has been doing facials for over 20 years I believe. When you book at Visage you know you are going to get Denise because she doesn’t have any other aestheticians working for her. Denise gives great facials. She has a wonderful touch and her products are the best — Skinceuticals, Karin Herzog, and my favorite, Anne Semonin which you can’t even find anywhere else on the west coast. I had terrible acne and after going to Denise for 4 months, I see *significant* improvement. A lot of the old scars have gone away and I don’t have new breakouts as often or as bad. Also, I really appreciate that Denise doesn’t charge surprise extras and no tip is expected (unlike at many spas I have been to) — the price on the menu is what you pay.
