Dr. Jeremy Shumaker is a graduate of the University of California Berkeley School of Optometry. While trained to diagnose and treat myriad age-related eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataracts, Dr. Shumaker is particularly at ease with children and is skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of various childhood eye conditions. He has unique experience in vision therapy for deficient visual skills including tracking, focusing, and eye coordination. These conditions can often dramatically impact reading, learning, and athletic performance.
Dr. Shumaker is especially interested in the fitting of contact lenses for adults and children, Orthokeratology (corneal re-shaping), contact lenses that correct for astigmatism, bifocal/multifocal contact lenses, and the control of myopia. He has also worked as a clinical researcher at the UC Berkeley School of Optometry studying orthokeratology, soft contact lenses, and the corneal surface and tear film.
