He has tailored my clothes for years and is excellent. He always does a wonderful job. I can never see the alterations in a way that looks shotty

I am 5 feet tall without my heels, and I have an affinity for beautiful design and luxe fabrics (who of us does not). After Vladimir was recommended to me, I checked Unilocal,and was impressed by the fashion houses that patronize his shop. I called to schedule an appointment so that I could meet with him in person. In fact, I found him delightful. I brought him 4 dresses and 3 blazers, some of which required a fair amount of work. There was nothing that required just a simple hem, which I would usually bring to my competent dry cleaner or even do myself, in some instances. If I bring in a Dior dress or a Fendi blazer, I want to trust that I am with a professional. I felt comfortable with Vladimir’s experience. Everything was ready in about a week. Vladimir and his assistants did excellent work on tricky fabrics and patterns, and reworked one of the blazers to perfection. Vladimir has the skill to look at a garment and know what to do. His work is expensive. That said, gorgeous but ill-​fitting clothes that clutter my closet and never see the light of day are of no consequence – they may as well be purged, Marie Kondo style. I want my clothes to look good on me, not just on my hangers. That is why I will call on Vladimir again in the future.

I had used Vlad’s services for quite a few years. He did alterations for me, my husband, my daughter and my son. From suites to dresses, jeans and jackets.

Went in to have a wool blazer brought in and jeans hemmed. They used white thread on the jeans, and the hemming was uneven. The blazer was brought in so much that I couldn’t move my arms. When I pointed this out, they said it wasn’t their fault — the blazer was always like this… which doesn’t make much sense. $ 140 later and I’m off to find a tailor who can fix the damage.

Outstanding!!! Really one of the best tailors in Union Square area. Love it. Super professional and fast. Can get stuff altered very fast if you are in the jam. But the most importantly they they do it right.
I have lost some weight and had to redo most of my pants and jeans. Easy. Reasonably prices and they definitely know what they are doing.
Also brought my 2K leather jacket to get some custom work on the sleeves and zippers and those guys were superb. Just simple perfection. I could not be happier with the skills and their ability to do it perfectly.

Two jackets and pair of pants dropped off for alterations. They messed up two jackets, but managed to not make a mistake on the pants. After I go in and inform the assistants, Vladimirov says to come in and show him whats wrong instead of learning from the tailor (who agreed to the issues) I had just pointed out the issues to in person. — but I love driving to and parking in Union Square so the second trip should be fun! Not.
I had just been in the store hours ago and as they were handing me the tailored jacket (before it was even in my hands), I could see the shoulder seam splitting. I was then asking– Doesn’t anyone even look at their work? The second jacket has a ribbon circle around the shoulder sleeve that looks like something out of star trek. For 3 items– just shortening of the sleeve length and hemming of the pants was billed at $ 180. One would figure they would at least inspect their work and not make seemingly basic mistakes. Also, that their assistants & one who did the tailoring would be able to relay to the owner what what the issues are after I had just pointed them out. For the record, this is the only complaint I’ve ever had about a tailor.

The rating is not for the workmanship but for overall experience, the workmanship is probably between 4 and 5 stars. I’ve met Vlad through Gucci, Vuitton and Burberry San Francisco. All the work for me and my wife done by him in the past were through all those houses directly, this is the first time I actually went up to his shop. I have a lot of respect for Vlad and think the work done by him and his crew is on par with the house tailor of Armani, Neiman Marcus and Saks. However, I think they need better management of the workload and schedule. I recently bought a shirt from Gucci and they have it sent out to him to shorten the sleeves, a few days later Gucci called me to let me know that shirt was ready. My wife picked it up for me and when I checked it at home, the work was never done, they just removed the pins. Since I have an Armani suit bought out of town that needs hemming, I brought the Gucci shirt and Armani to Vlad’s shop to get measured, they asked me how soon I need them and I said I do not care, then they told me one week. I went back the day after the promised date, nothing was done at all. Another week later I finally went back to pick up my stuff, work was finally done and as I said before, workmanship is not the issue. I think they always do it the right way and do not take shortcut. Another thing, the lady charged me a few dollars more than what was quoted and written on my work ticket, I figured I was just happy to have the work done and did not say a word. Could all these bad things happen because Vlad is on vacation and not managing the shop? It could be, I don’t know. However, if you have nice stuff and do not want them to get messed up, this is one of the best places, but keep in mind that they work like artist, nothing precise, that goes for the charge as well as the delivery time.

«You get what you pay for» is really true at this place. It’s on the pricey side, but I was wiling to pay $ 70 for hemming my dress, because it had pleats and the fabric was difficult to work with. I haven’t actually gotten alternations done but I did visit to get my dress altered. I had a fitting and then overnight I had a change of heart. I went back the next day to try on the dress again and decided not to alter it in the end. Many people would get super annoyed at my fickleness but Vladimir and his ladies were so nice and accommodating to my change of hearts. The lady that helped me try on the dress was very thorough and knowledgeable about the intricate dress I was going to alter here. I also observed their dealing with other customers. Every customer interaction was very professional, thorough, and nice. If I have any complex alternation needs, this is the place I’d go every single time.

He is the first tailor that I really trust! Did amazing alterations on 2 leather jackets that now fit me perfectly.

I have been going here for years and he is the best in San Francisco.

Top notch work by Vlad and his staff! I’ve sent freinds in with pieces that come back better than they were sewn originally. Since taking suites there and getting them altered I now have the correct look for my height and bones. Price is nothing when you want your garments to lay perfect. See Vladimir and his crew!

Mr. Vladimirov was recommended to me by a tailor at Barney’s and I’ve been very happy with his work.
He’s done almost every kind of alteration to various suit jackets and pants for me and they have always turned out perfectly.

For maybe 15 years I’ve been coming to Vladimir with a vast array of alterations– from the easiest hem job to the most complicated adjustments. If you love your Prada, Dries, Marni and Chloe, you can trust Vladimir and his team. They understand construction, seaming and draping.
Vladimir will advise you on what is possible, and what is very ill advised, and you can trust his judgement. And his pricing is absolutely fair– although that may sometimes come as a shock to those who don’t understand the time and care it takes to take out and reconstruct a shoulder seam on a Marni jacket.
Simply be sure you are super-​clear on what you want and Vladimir will take care of the rest. One of my true super-​heros on Union Square. And snaps to every one of his team who are unfailingly polite and patient.

Flawless execution including tailoring or changing a clothing item all together.
If I want to change major parts of a clothing item, Vladamir gives excellent feedback as he knows fabric, the limitations of it, and how it will drape. In this case, I prefer make an appointment to be sure Vladamir is there. He also speaks perfect English, which is assuring when leaving your best dress to be hacked.
In other cases such as hems, his staff is great.

Vladimir and his whole staff rock. Very experienced, knowledgeable and excellent workmanship. I’ve been going here for the past several years and everything has come back perfectly fitted.
Vladimir is a quality tailor, so his prices are pretty steep. Sometimes I get my jeans hemmed at cheaper places, but everything else requiring more work comes here. Vladimir also does beautiful work on my husband’s suits. I wouldn’t take my clothes anywhere else.

Let’s start this story with the bridesmaids dress that a) was a size too big, b) was made of dupioni silk and c) had a bubble skirt with pleats in the back! Talk about the need for an experienced tailor!
The seamstress at Vladimir’s was fantastic. She pinned the dress and a week later when I returned for my fitting, was completely receptive to the further alterations I wanted to make.
Considering the amount of work that needed to be done, I thought $ 55 was a fair price. Although I don’t really have anything to compare it too…

Pricey. Very cool building! Cool old couple. Their bedside manner is a little stern (his) and it cost me quite a bit for a pants alteration. Also only cash is accepted.

I’m reluctant to give up this little secret gem but this place is the place for anything you don’t want screwed up by a less talented tailor. Flawless alterations.
I’m a return customer and will remain one until my mother moves out here and resumes her position as my number one (and least expensive) tailor. (You can’t imagine how fabulous it is to have an in-​house seamstress… I miss you, Mom!) :)

The sales guy at Dolce & Gabbana in LA (don’t I sound fancy) sent me here to get my new suit altered — I’m still waiting to get it back, so I will have to update this once I see the quality.
I am giving the low rating for precisely that reason (waiting to get it back). I was told it would be ready on Thursday (a full week after I dropped it off). That seemed like enough time for them to get it done, but just to be sure before I headed to Union Square and parked and everything, I called the day before to confirm when it would be ready. Vladi promised he’d have it done by noon, but when I got there at 2pm he still didn’t have it done. He then estimated that it would be ready by 5pm — and asked if I could wait (3 hours?!) I couldn’t, since I had another appointment, and now he still has my suit.
Oh, and the price was even more expensive than it would have cost to have D&G do it themselves (plus if I had gone that route, I’d have it by now).
As you can tell, I’m frustrated by this guy. let’s hope his tailoring skills make up for some of the hassle!

so. I got it back and … eh. it’s ok. not perfect. for the money and the inconvenience — so not worth it. i won’t go back.
