Description

Specialties

I specialize in teaching young students beginning piano and voice lessons. I’m dedicated to keeping each lesson challenging and exciting with listening activities, games, and new songs that focus on each student’s personal goals and interests.

I also specialize in teaching voice lessons to adults who are interested in making music a bigger part of their life. I can cater each lesson to their specific needs, and help them work toward a musically rich life.

History

Established in 2009.

Amy started teaching kids from her community in the Mission district of San Francisco. She branched out from this core group to teach friends of friends, and then friends of friends of friends. Her first generation of students in elementary school are now in middle school, and she is excited to bring up a new young generation of musicians.

Her history of teaching adults began similarly, teaching actor friends to project their voice, friends in the tech industry to appreciate the music they know and love, and friends in church to lead worship more confidently. Her student clientele has now grown to include many adults with varying degrees of musical skills and interests, some singing karaōke on the weekends, and some just now beginning to perform with bands professionally.

Business Owner

Amy Foote graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2010 with her Master of Vocal Performance. Since then she has performed nationally with her classical chamber group, Nonsemble 6. Their most recent project includes a collaboration with 826 Valencia, teaching a libretto writing workshop to kids. Their librettos were then turned into a mini opera. Amy specializes in singing contemporary music, though has a background in folk, jazz, and gospel.

She has performed with many Bay Area rock groups including John Vanderslice, The Family Crest, Night Genes, and Blackbird Blackbird, with whom she toured to South by Southwest in 2011. She currently sings with experimental rock group, Makeunder. When not performing, rehearsing, or making terrariums, Ms. Foote teaches private lessons in her home studio and coaches fledgling rock bands at San Francisco’s Bird School of Music. She currently studies with Metropolitan Opera soloist, Brenda Boozer.
