Wee Scotty

Absolutely would never go back here. During my first appointment, no one ever spoke to me about a deposit, pricing or how long my dress would take. When my 2^nd apt was cancelled at 7pm the night before, I was confused as to why. When digging in further it was discovered that after 2 weeks nothing had been done on my dress. At first the excuse was due to time and then somehow evolved into it being because I did not leave a deposit. I exchanged a few emails with Lynne and this is the kind of unprofessional direct communication I received:
«What are you confused about? I said to you all of that in our fitting and you just repeated it all back to me.» (when I explained I didn’t leave a deposit and no one discussed price with me)
«I am sorry about the request but What do you want to do?» (about Lynne wanting to change our 2^nd appointment).
«There is no need for another’s attendance at your fittings. That is your choice and decision to make.» (in reference to wanting my aunt to attend my fitting as my mother is across the country)
«Until we skilled humans sit down and do the work we don’t know the exact time.» (when I was trying to find out how long it would take to get my dress done).
As you can read, this is not the way a bride should be spoken to during her wedding planing experience. These are not the kind of responses that someone who is a professional should be saying to a customer. I would never go back to do anything here again, not to mention it is very very expensive.

Lynne is amazing. She took my Glamour Closet dress, which was a slightly beaten looking sample, and turned it into a dream! It fits perfectly, and looks like new. She was super accommodating as well– I ended up coming in for a couple extra fittings just to make sure it was all just right, and she always made time. Despite having a full schedule she never made me feel rushed, and let me take the time to try on different shoes, sashes, jewelry etc to make sure it was all just right. You will be in good hands with her. Thank you Lynne!

I had my wedding dress altered here. Overall it was fine, but pretty expensive (though I did have a ball gown with intricate beading and embroidery). A few days before my wedding I went to pick up my dress and there appeared to be a problem with my bustle. Unfortunately Lynn was not there and the lady helping me had no idea about the bustle. Later I found out that Lynn had a family emergency so I completely understand why she was not there and was appreciative that she called me even though she was dealing with a very difficult situation. I just wish that the people she has working for her are educated on the dresses. I am happy with the alterations, it was just a freak situation, but again a lot disconcerting right before my wedding that the other works do not know about the wedding dresses.

I purchased my wedding dress from Glamour Closet, and it was 4 sizes too big and some of the lace was yellowing. Lynne completely transformed my dress to fit me perfectly, and removed all of the yellow lace so it looked brand new. Given the amount of work that was done, it was very affordable. The best part is Lynne’s professionalism. She is such a nice person, and explained what she would do and how she would do it so I felt comfortable with the process. I highly recommend her!

My wedding dress was a full 2 sizes too big, and Lynne had no problem tailoring it to fit me perfectly. It was a very fitted strapless dress so the alterations had to be perfect and she did a wonderful job. And, she made the whole process very easy. I’d highly recommend Wee Scotty.

I had no idea what kind of dress I want, until I went to Glamour Closet and saw it. I knew it is the one. The problem was it needed alterations and I was recommended to go to Wee Scotty. What a wonderful help Lynne was with my wedding dress ! She did a perfect job at it. I have no complains. Very professional and competent.

Our wedding was wonderful and the dress was absolutely perfect thanks in part to Lynne at Wee Scotty. I had purchased my dress in Los Angeles, went down for multiple fittings and finally got it home 2 weeks before the wedding. When I put it on at home, it was clear the bodice was too big and needed some additional alterations. I called Lynne in a panic, and she got me in the next day. She had everything done before the wedding, was very flexible with my schedule, and even made it so I could tighten or loosen the dress throughout the day! I would recommend Lynne to anyone looking for alterations!

all I can say is… perfect! And oh! Lynne is super fun to talk to! A HUGE plus when standing in a wedding dress on a Tuesday, being pinned and tucked. Thank you Lynne!

Lynne’s attention to detail is incredible. I had purchased an off-​the-​rack gown that was significantly larger and had difficult bias-​seams. Lynne and her team worked until it was an absolutely perfect fit. Pretty sure I had 5 fittings — but so worth it, my dress fit like a glove. Many compliments and I felt great on the big day — thanks again Lynne!

I thoroughly enjoyed working with Lynne. She made me feel very comfortable and I felt like my dress was in expert hands. I was nervous since I bought the dress entirely too big and was afraid I wouldn’t get the hourglass shape I was going for. Lynne’s alterations were perfect and gave me that classic, elegant, glam look I was going for. She even told me how to comfortably sit in my dress! I highly recommend!

My sister had her Marina Morrison wedding dress altered at Wee Scotty, and I had my MOH dress altered here as well. Mine was fully beaded patterned dress that was one size too big, and had no shape. Lynne not only took the dress in, but was also able to change the shape of the dress into a slight mermaid, take fabric off the bottom, and make it the perfect length. After two fittings, the dress was absolutely perfect and looked like it was made for my body. I received SO many compliments on the dress, I couldn’t have been happier!

I came to Wee Scotty at the recommendation of the Glamour Closet where I bought my Monique Lhuillier gown. Working with Lynne was super easy, she made me very comfortable and my dress turned out beautiful. I was nervous before because the dress is (from my untrained eye) complicated and intricate. But she listened to every request and accommodated me on every detail I wanted.

Omg I was in wee Scotty today asking about wedding gowns and prices and what not when Lynn the owner noticed that my pocket on my shirt was coming in sewed and she told me, take that off and ill fix that for you. Wow. What service. She will get all my business from here on out.

Wee Scotty altered two very difficult designer evening gowns for me and did a superb job with each of them. One was a wedding gown that I wore to co-​chair an event. The second was a vintage Oscar de la Renta gown that needed significant tailoring. Each gown underwent a complete transformation and ended up fitting me perfectly. I cannot thank Wee Scotty enough. I would trust them with anything!

My 6 year old daughter had her first sewing class here recently and she enjoyed it! Her teacher, Claire, was very patient, kind and approachable for my shyish 6 year old daughter. All around it was a good experience. We will definitely take another class there. And the best part is the little Scotty mascot dog that runs up to say hi every time you come in.

Wee Scotty saved the day. I had a horrible experience with a handmade dress that forced me to purchase a wedding dress off the rack 3 weeks before my wedding. Wee Scotty altered it promptly and perfectly … and it was a pleasant experience.

Lynne did a wonderful job with my wedding gown alteration! I had bought a used dress that was way, way too big. .. it looked like a different dress (made for me) after she altered it.
My experience was 100% positive. From the friendly front-​desk associate to Lynne herself, everyone was extremely nice and professional. They sent calendar invitations and reminder emails about my appointments and were accommodating to my schedule. Lynne has clearly been doing this a long time, because she also had great tips for shoes, jewelry, etc.

I had a great experience with Lynne at Wee Scotty. She came recommended from multiple bridal salons in SF, and I can see why. I actually purchase my 2-​piece dress online, so there was a fair bit of work to be done to ensure that it fit properly. Over the course of a few months I had 2 alterations appointments, which I scheduled during my lunch break from work. Lynne was prompt and to-​the-​point, and does her job very well.
Dress alterations are worth paying for, in my mind, and Lynne made sure my dress fit perfectly. I had her reinforce a clasp as well, and I felt perfect and snug in my dress on the day of my wedding.
Appointments are quick, so plan on 20 minutes in-​and-​out. Lynne also created a fantastic, simple veil for me, at a much lower cost than I could find elsewhere. My dress was all packaged and steamed for transportation to Napa, and stayed beautifully.
Highly recommend.

My fiancé was unfortunate enough to seek the alteration services of this business upon the recommendation of the bridal shop where her gown was originally purchased. Upon learning of her experience, I was horrified to hear about the manner in which she was treated.
Lynne Gallagher’ s assistants were short and rude during the entire consultation process. Anytime a question was asked, it was met with snide /​condescending responses. It reached the point where there was an immediate concern over leaving the gown in their possession to complete the work. A decision was made to discontinue the consultation, and seek the services of a more reputable and upstanding business.
The request to end the consultation was met with verbal hostility and further resistance. One would think that a business that presumably specializes in bridal alterations would operate with a level of class and sophistication. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing from my fiancé, and felt compelled to share the experience with others.
After reviewing the website, and reading similar negative Unilocal postings, I soon realized this was not an isolated incident. We will most certainly review the online reputations of local bridal alteration businesses first BEFORE considering their services.
We also plan on sharing the unpleasant experience with the bridal shop that referred my fiancé to «Wee Scotty» in the first place. I personally wouldn’t want any association with a business like this.

I tried repeatedly to bring in my dress and never got a real human being on the phone. I left several messages and no response. Finally someone left me a voicemail to call back and schedule a time. Got their VM again.
It’s too bad because Marina Morrison, a high end salon in SF, recommended them for my gown I bought at Kleinfeld’s. Even if I could get an appointment at this point I wouldn’t go because I wouldn’t feel secure leaving my dress somewhere where I can never get ahold of anyone.
Edited on October 30: I am very sorry to hear about the owner’s daughter being ill and I am sure that accounted for some issues with some people. However, my issues were with the staff answering the phone (or not answering) — staff should be able to step up if the owner is not able to be on site for whatever reason.
I do not remove reviews, because I give them careful consideration and do not write them in fits of irritation, because I know that reputation is key for small businesses. Bottom line, staff should have been able to keep a business running; that’s why you have a continuity plan.
