I was surprised that a guy did manicures at this place. He did a good job, but nicked the skin on two fingers. I was not happy, but I have thin skin on my hands so I wasn’t surprised either. However I should note that the last time I had a manicure at a different salon, I didn’t get nicked at all. The woman who did my pedicure was great. She did a good job and there were no nicks. She’s also friendlier than the guy. Wish she spent more time scrubbing my feet though. I still have rough patches after the pedicure. And the scrubbing is usually my favorite part of the whole thing and since she didn’t do a thorough job of it, I’m not completely satisfied. Suggestions: put on some relaxing music in the background. The towels were way too hot for sensitive skin like mine. My hands got all red and blotchy! ask the client if she/he wants to test first before slapping it on. Scrub more!

called ahead on a Saturday morning to make sure they could take me right away & they were able to which was fabulous. They have a nice selection of colors & the chairs were comfy. it is quiet inside which was nice, so i’d recommend bringing headphones if you go alone. He did a good job on my acrylics — i got a fill & i think it was $ 20 so pretty reasonable. I’m sure i will be back.

Clean & sanitary. Nice clean bathroom. As for the pedicure, the nail tech carefully did the job and it was well done. I don’t live or work nearby but I’ll come back here every time my dog is getting groomed at Pupology.

My first visit(pedicure) to White Butterfly. Nice & new facility w/the usual lounge massage chairs for pedicures. There is no tv and no music blaring, so it’s quite peaceful. They do take their time with you. I had 2 coats of polish done(magenta red and green sparkles) and they also gave my lower legs a scrub and massage. For $ 23 pedicure, it was a good experience. I will go back again before Xmas to get my holiday toesies done! :)

The manicure was ok, but the pedicure was less than stellar. I felt like the lady who did my feet barely scrubbed them and she seemed to be in a hurry. My toes look ok — a little too short for my liking but the soles of my feet still look dry and chapped even though I had a pedicure a few hours ago. Like I said, mani was ok — nothing worth writing home about. Won’t be going back.

There are multiple places I like to get my nails done in the city, but white butterfly is one of my favorite. Gel nails are $ 30. However, the manicurists take their time to perfect your nails. Also, their gel polish lasts for about 3 weeks. It’s amazing. They also have a lot of colors to choose from. More perks: they have candy in the front. They serve you tea. Their chairs are like, extra comfy. They speak Cantonese, I speak Cantonese, and it’s a bit comforting to know they’re not talking smack while painting my nails :) BASICALLY, I recommend this salon.

One of my favorite nail salons in the city in terms of quality of work and price. The salon itself is very no frills, but they definitely take care of you. They have a large selection of colors(for both regular and gel polish). They also have quality massage chairs, which I really appreciate because that’s half the fun of a pedicure. They use sterilized tools and don’t take on more clients than they can handle, which other salons tend to do. My gel manicure and regular pedicure only took an hour and cost $ 53, which is very reasonable. My only complaint would be the general décor and ambiance, which could use a makeover.

Best place for a mani/pedi in North Beach-Chinatown! Clean, spacious, and comfy massage chairs with foot spas. Reasonably priced too, a regular manicure is $ 23. They take credit card but prefer cash.

Spectacular experience from start to finish. I really appreciated that they don’t take on more clients than they can handle at any given time. You get great personal attention and long massages and detailed oriented paint work(that isn’t rushed). They don’t treat your cuticles like they’re in detention either ;). Very gentle. They also completely nailed(I mean I had to throw in ONE pun) the red, heart-shaped French manicure art I had requested. Can’t wait to go back!

Got the early bird gel mani regular pedi for $ 47. They had a better color selection than I have seen recently, and the place was very clean. I watched my manicurist open a sterile package of metal tools, but I am not sure about the files and pumice. Unfortunately today is day 7 and the gel is already peeling. The regular polish is excellent, even after walking on the beach. I wouldn’t go back for gels.

This was such a relaxing experience! Complimentary hot tea, very nice recliners, and reasonable prices! It was also very very clean. I wish I lived in SF because I would come here all the time for manicures. $ 12 for polish manicure and $ 33 for mani pedi for my guy. My favorite part was the warm lotion and hot towel section! Thank you white butterfly!

I came in for an early bird gel manicure($ 25 before 3pm weekdays). They have more gel options than anywhere I’ve been, including a ton of different sparkly options. Yay! They have one side with the fancy pedicure whirlpool chairs, and the manicure side with very comfortable lazyboy style leather chairs. The place is super clean, has signs on each seat confirming that the seat has been cleaned and sanitized. It also doesn’t smell like chemicals inside, thank god. I had just got a cast off my wrist so my hand itself was super delicate. The manicurist I had was very gentle, friendly, and did a perfect job. She even fixed one nail that I messed up when I put it in the dryer. Nails lasted 2 weeks without a single chip. Zero complaints here.

I am mostly disappointed with myself. I came here because it is down the block from my house, and it was raining — the reviews were positive so it seemed worth a shot. Unfortunately, I did not experience the customer service that other reviewers speak of. I can count the number of words spoken to me on one hand, and hey — I’m about that life sometimes — but you could cut the tension with a knife. I felt uncomfortable from end to end and sat there waiting for the situation to be over. Pros: clean, excellent polish selection, family owned Cons: sloppy mani/pedi, color is uneven and thick, messy handling(Used a detailing brush from a hot pink bottle of polish for my WHITE french tips without cleaning it off properly — what??) And to top it all off, I accidentally paid an extra $ 20 for an already super overpriced outing, by mistakenly handing over the wad of cash I had gotten from the ATM out of my pocket. I got a block away before realizing my mistake. They denied it, of course, and I was not going to fight for it — I just wanted out. My fault. Needless to say, I will try somewhere else.

The best nail salon in San Francisco. Just parking sucks, sucks a lot. Usually street or in the garages. I got the special where it was Pedicure and Gel Manicure for $ 47. I thought it was a pretty good deal for being in San Francisco. They have wonderful massage chairs and free wifi. They have a lot of Essie, OPI, and even Zoya! My pedicure was so good, but I do like the gel manicure better! My gel lasted up to 4 weeks! No chipping! Will be coming back when I am in the area!

I decided to remove the polish today because the visible growth of my nail bed was starting to get on my nerves. I had shellac on my nails prior to this manicure and when I took off the polish I discovered that the nail technician didn’t remove all of the gel before polishing my nails. 3 out of 10 nails OBVIOUSLY still has gel on them. If the gel as only on the tips, I’d be able to just trim it off. But it’s not. It’s on the nail bed! Huge pet peeve!!! Especially since I can’t get the gel off myself. I still love how long my mani lasted so I advise fellow patrons with gel already on their nails to check after it’s been removed and make sure your nails are CLEAN!

White Butterfly saw my review and immediately tried to rectify the situation. Tony, the owner, wrote a message apologizing for the service I received and offered to re-do my nails. This is as good as it gets, right? After my nails were redone, I have no complaints. Tony was very thorough and careful. He painted my entire nail very evenly. My Thursday evening turned out to be very relaxing and enjoyable and my nails are a brightly painted red! I will definitely be returning!
