Yerba Buena Ice Skating & Bowling Center

I didn’t play bowling but ice skating were good and the employees here are very friendly but the down part is that you have to take a 15 minutes break for them to wet the floor so that it no longer have holes because of skate shoes the price is very cheap but they won’t give you free shoes you have to rent them and it’s a different price

First time at Yerba Buena Bowling Alley. There are 10 lanes and is suited for children but accommodates adults! I went for a staff bowling trip and the 2 lanes we occupied for great for a group of 10. The alley serves food, beer and wine. There is also an app you can use to play certain music. Now my group ordered a lot of food, mainly chicken, and there was a feather in one order overall not a bad place and worth a visit

Nice ambiance but a little too dark in some areas.

Over priced for no reason Love my city and all just wish it wasn’t so over priced stopped going here when I found my go to in the new place I moved in

I came here for a Friday evening post work happy hour/​bowling session combination.
The location is great as it’s right in the heart of downtown next to major hotels like the Park Central. Post 5:00pm the lights were off, the disco lights were on, and music was playing so it made the environment a little more fun.
The food was typical american fast food — sliders, fries, wings. I wish they had more vegetarian options!
Ended up having a good time. I found bowling to be a surprisingly good way to get to know/​meet the other people at my company. That said, it is a pretty small place and there is nothing extraordinary about it.

The ice skating rink is very simple and well-​kept. Price is reasonable: $ 16 for public skate (lasting 2 hours). I wish they had longer public skate sessions and other special events. Staff was nice and to my surprise it wasn’t too crowded on a Friday night.
Also, I was able to find street parking right outside of the rink. If you come on the weekend, you shouldn’t have any problem finding street parking either :)

Yerba Buena is a great, no-​frills bowling alley. I came here with a group of friends and had a lot of fun! The prices are a lot more reasonable than Lucky Strike and other places in the city.
They turn on black lights after 5pm and there’s projector screens with music videos playing. Their drinks and snacks are nothing notable. The bar is simply a fridge stocked with bottled beer and wine. Sadly, they didn’t have red wine when I went.

Great place to learn to skate even in your late 40s. Very nice teachers who like sharing their passion for skating.

I came here with a few friends to go ice skating. On the day that we went, the rink was only open for a few hours to the public for special events. On most days, they are open for two hours at a time to ensure that the ice is always fresh. It gets crowded super fast, so arrive early to wait in line. The lines for both ticket sales and skate rentals move quickly, thankfully. General tickets is $ 12 for admission and $ 4 for skate rentals. There is plenty of space for gearing up, as well as lockers to store your belongings.
Overall, I had a great experience here! I walk by Yerba Buena all the time but never realized how awesome it is that this skating rink is available year-​round. I’ll have to visit sometime again and go to the bowling alley as well.

My boyfriend and I decided to ice skate here because the rink in Union Square was sold out. It was $ 16 to skate for 2 hours compared to $ 17 for 1.5 hours in Union Square. We thought going here was totally worth it especially since the rink here is bigger. Overall, we had tons of fun and it wasn’t that crowded. The music selection was alright. Only down side was that the skates made our feet hurt. They also rub against your ankles so wear long socks to prevent blisters!!!

Ice skating makes for great dates.
Don’t forget to bring big socks, skates stress can bruse.

This place is a real skating wonder. Like any skating rink, you’re experience is shaped largely by the friends you bring, the skates you’re wearing, and how many people are on the ice.
It’s in the heart of downtown SF and the open area of Yuerba Buena (that is open to the rink) is quite spectacular. I’ve been here multiple times over the years and I always try to go during whole 2-​hour seshes. I’m a self-​taught skater, which means I probably look like I have 2 left skates on. In fact, there are almost always 5 – 10 year old kids, doing fancier maneuvers than anything I’m doing. The teachers & staff are real friendly too.
Perfect for all ages, group sizes, and occasions. Check it out! Just don’t check me into the wall, trying to stop please.

Ice skating rink is awesome. Classes here are very good. Most of the instructors are great and kids catch on quick and have fun. Hockey classes are awesome with wonderful teachers. My boys enjoy spending their weekends here having fun. Public skate is very popular and can be crowded on peek hours.
Bowling Center across from the ice rink is fun for a special family date. You can rent a lane for an hour and with skates for three to four it usually equals about $ 50. So a bit pricey for a regular activity. But fun special event. Young ones? A-okay…ask them to set the computer to drop the bumpers on their turn. Real little? Still cool… ask for the ramp. Those balls are heavy for little bodies. But the kids enjoy rolling them down the ramp. Food opens at noon. Food staff may seem unpeppy, but the mini Burgers and waffle fries are a great addition to the fun.
Note Pin Up retaraunt just opened upstairs from the bowling alley and entails comfort foods at a steep price. You pay for convenience of not having to relocate for food.
Playground next door a nice add to the occasion.

Friends and I came here for bowling on a Sunday evening. The Yerba Buena Center runs a Sunday Family Special from 5pm-​closing. The cost is only $ 27/​hour and it doesn’t include the rental of shoes.
The facility is well-​maintained. It’s very clean, simple and efficient. The bathrooms require a special code, which you can ask for at the front desk. The snack bar looked very disappointing. There were limited food/​drink and the woman employee looked disinterested in her job. Aside from that, this place served its purpose. We (group of 4) were able to bowl nearly two games within an hour time frame.

This review is for ice skating only. Specifically,
the customer service. I don’t usually write negative reviews unless the service is exceptionally bad. I checked their website for information on what age to start ice skating for my toddler, and found the Parent & Me class. Their website says it’s for «tots up to age 5.» Regardless, I called their office, spoke to someone and told them my child was 18 months old — can we enroll? They said that was fine, and to come on over the following week as a new session was starting. Well, I get there in person, and am told dismissively that the minimum age is 2. Not a single apology for providing misinformation. Just a lot of shrugging of shoulders. In the grand scheme of things, it’s just an ice skating class. But as a business, it doesn’t reflect the best customer service.

We went here for bowling on a Friday night, and had a ton of fun! As a venue, it was very well equipped. There were lots of moving colored lights and other effects that kept the place looking interesting. There were also two large, easy to see projector screens with music videos playing towards the ends of the center lanes. The music playing that particular night was mostly 80s stuff, and while I would have preferred 2000s and 2010s Top 40 stuff, the 80s music videos were somewhat entertaining.
As for audio, the speakers could have been better. It was audible and loud, but not uncomfortable. However, it wasn’t EQ’d very well, and didn’t have a lot of bass, nor did it have a very clear high end.
Regardless, we didn’t come for the audio! For the bowling, the place was fine! I think it was around $ 40 to rent a single lane for an hour, so for 7 of us renting 2 lanes it came out to be about $ 13 a person. Shoe rentals were an extra $ 4 per person, which is totally reasonable. Bowling balls came in a wide variety of weights, colors, and hole sizes, and all were labeled with finger size (small, medium, large, X-​Large) and weight (in big digits) which made it extremely easy to tell which one you wanted or which were similar to the ones you wanted to use!
The scoring system was easy to use and had tons of fun animations for spares and strikes, and the ball return system was great. Pins were almost always set up perfectly and the system didn’t have issues in the combined 5 games we played.
All in all, it was a great time in a reputable establishment, as evidenced by having every lane filled for the duration we were there!
If there’s ever a need to go bowling again, I’ll definitely be recommending and possibly returning to this place.

This is a nice rink right in the heart of downtown San Francisco. It is clean and well maintained. I ran in to a lady who used to coach at my home rink, Ice Palace Hawaii, and she mentioned how warm this rink is compared to the Ice Palace. I hadn’t thought about it before she mentioned it but she was right. I didn’t even need the hoodie I normally wear when skating.
I went in a Thursday morning for a their Coffee Club session. This is a skating time that is reserved for adults. One really nice thing is that this session was almost 2 hours long! All of the skating sessions I’m used to are 30 minutes to an hour. It was great having a long ice session. They served coffee and pastries, too. The donuts and pastries were pretty good. They were fresh and they had a good variety as well as a sufficient amount. The coffee left something to be desired. The term «battery acid» comes to mind. Also, there wasn’t much cream or sugar to improve the coffee.
I really enjoyed the ice, though. There were all levels of adults in the ice. I’m pretty much a beginner (I’m taking an ISI Gamma class right now) and it was great watching some of the really good skaters that were on the ice. In particular the were several ice dance couples who looked great! Staying out of there way as I practiced 3-​turns and Mohawks was a pleasant challenge.
Besides the coffee my only other complaint was that there was supposed to be a lesson taught with the Coffee Club session and, if there was, I didn’t see it. I think that may have been because the time advertised for the session on the website was 15 minutes later than what the sign by the pro shop said for when the season began. Not really a biggie but I had hoped to get a lesson from a coach I wasn’t familiar with. I’ve often found that the different perspective each coach has can help to make things clearer when learning something new.
All-​in-​all, I really liked this rink. I will certainly return whenever I am in San Francisco. I will certainly go for the Coffee Club again — even if the coffee want that great.

Recently visited the bowling center at Yerba Buena for a work party. While a little small and maybe without some of the bells and whistles of the newer places, the Yerba Buena center was definitely still fun in its own right.
This bowling alley had more of the disco feel to it with the pop tunes blasting from the speakers, glow in the dark bowling shoes, and lights spinning around. They provided plenty of options for bowling ball sizes (everything from very light to sizeable and heavy.)
The food was pretty decent, especially considering I was looking for vegan options. They had chips/​salsa/​guac, waffle fries, and tempeh sliders that could be made without mayo to make them vegan. As for beer, the selection wasn’t incredible but did the trick with Allagash and a couple of other good beers.
I would definitely recommend this place for groups or parties, as they were easy to work with and the price was modest.

$ 14 for skating and rental is a good price for the size and amount of time you get there.

Super crowded and the ice becomes so rough after the first hour. Beware of those who are at least decent and being jerks, weaving in and out of people as they zoom past you! I’m not bad myself, but I’m not going to cut you off because you’re terrible at ice skating! Don’t hold hands with someone who’s as bad or worse than you because all that does is throw off balance and take up space! You’re not letting people get by you when you do this! I understand you want to be romantic with your sig. other, but it makes me want to break through like I’m playing Red Rover!
It’s cold inside, so bring something warm for the first 20 minutes. Then you’ll start sweating a bunch. The lockers cost $ 1 to use and each time you open your locker, it’ll cost you another $ 1 to use it again. They seem to have pretty good skates here since the last time I went, so that’s a plus.
TIP: wear long socks. Your ankles will still hurt from not being used to skating, but at least your calves and legs will be protected by your socks!

I have mixed feelings about the bowling center, I came here with a group of coworkers as our Xmas get-​together.
To start, there is no food in the bowling center and they refused to let us even being our leftovers in the building. The only food to offer were vending machines that luckily accepted credit cards.
Next, once we started bowling on our lanes broke down for more than 20 minutes. The staff was not very friendly and wasn’t very responsive to the problem. While they did let us extend our reservation, they interrupted out third game and asked us to leave so they could close up. The problem with was the bowling center was supposed to be open for another 20 minutes! At least let us finish our game. It was very much a Kanye West/​Taylor Swift moment.
For these reasons I would not recommend this facility to anyone nor will this be my go-​to place for bowling in the city. The drive to Pacifica Sea Bowl is much preferred.

Had an extra hour to kill before a friends’ birthday party at the bowling center, headed to see another friend who I’ve not seen for sometime. Said that I was being very busy with the other obligatory things and that I’ve been a bit antisocial. He said, «That’s good then. To see some friends and hang out with them.» I naturally become suspicious of his encouragement of going out, because I sensed there was an ulterior motive, but I went to bowl anyhow.
The place is quite deserted for a Thursday night evening. There were about 20 of us, most of the folks I’ve met through San Francisco trail running meet up group, and most recently about six of us ran the Coastal 50K.
This is where I believe an event at a bowling ally works when everyone is super fit and health conscious. There is a little chance of becoming idle. Yes there are beers being served but most folks stuck with water. On occasion you have to get up to roll the balls and the rest of the time you are forced to chat. Turns out runners, ultrarunners, really suck at this bowling thing. Something about it makes them just terrible at it. I don’t know why, it’s possible it’s just this group, still when you suck at something this bad yet when you can easily run a 31 miles on an 6000+ feet elevation gain, it’s hilarious t watch.
The lanes are pretty neatly lit, with disco music playing all night. It did get a bit loud after a while, and quite honestly the music is not my cup of tea, but, still, I liked how quiet it was and for a big party, it’s nice to have the entire court to ourselves.
What do you know? Runners are extremely nice people. They are so helpful and friendly, and they tend to share the same disciplined attitude as you do, if you are one of them. The evenings went by fast. And while I sucked at this game as bad as some others and worse than most, I enjoyed an evening out just like my friend predicted.
We parted ways and wished everyone good luck for the next race. I’m glad that I got out of my comfort zone and did something harder than running a 50K trail run — wearing funky bowling shoes and attempting to bowl.

Don’t waste your time.
This place is closed for corporations and San Francisco fat cats parties pretty much all the time. Walk-​ins strongly discouraged.
I couldn’t find a way of knowing when it would be open to common people other than setting up my family for disappointment at the front door, bowling socks and all.

This place is low-​key and parking is easy. Service is pretty good. The kids that work here are nice. The lanes were $ 35 an hour or $ 6 per game. $ 4 for shoes. We did the hourly rate and we bowled about two and ¼ game. If we did per game, it would have been $ 2 more expensive (6 people for two lanes, that would have been $ 2 split by 6 people less the ¼ game played). I think it’s better to pay per game so that one person does not end up having to collect money from people or paying for the whole lane.
I’d recommend paying per game. That would be $ 10 each including shoes for one game or $ 16 for two games including shoes, which is pretty good. Also, if you try to pay per hour, there is a limit of 5 people per lane (we had 6 so we had to get another lane).
On the weekends, they have glow in the dark night.

As a little girl, I used to always look forward to the Winter Games and Olympics. Sinking into the couch with eyes glued to the figure skating competition was my absolute favorite thing to do.
Grace and poise, humor and creativity, sequined costumes and choreographed themed routines, I had the best time looking up to the likes of Kristi Yamaguchi, Oksana Baiul, Tara Lipinski, Michelle Kwan, Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding (pre knee incident… OUCH), Scott Hamilton (who can forget those backflips?), Elvis Stojko, and San Francisco’s very own Brian Boitano! What can I say? I was an obsessed little child.
Fast forward to today and I find myself living here next to this really cool ice rink. When I feel the urge to relive some of my special childhood memories, I love to strap on the ice skates and glide onto the ice. Just so you know, NO I do not attempt a triple toe axel, but I do make a mean left turn. BOOYAH!
The prices are reasonable at a little over $ 10 for 1 person. The skates are clean, no funky odors. Plus, the cold air is refreshing during the warmer days in SF.
As far as the bowling center, one thing for sure is that I’m extremely competitive, even if I suck at the sport. Go figure. At Yerba Buena Bowling, I find myself laughing and stubborn all over again.

A turkey, which is 3 strikes in a row, is still most desirable, but unfortunately doesn’t come very often for me. One day… oh one sweet day. And when that day comes, I’m going to heckle the bejeezus out of whoever is with me till no end. IN YOUR FACE!!! *commences with C-​walk*
Besides that, ummm they serve food, they have fully stocked vending machines, the lanes are well kept, and the workers are helpful.
Great place to go with friends and family to enjoy a simple good time!
