Cabinet City

Heng the sales rep who handles the orders for Mursol construction and Alberto the measurements person were very professional. However, I did have some strong criticisms of Julie Ann, a young designer. It might have been her enthusiasm to try to help me. Xi, the store manager called to apologize and explained that she is a relatively young designer just starting out. As a college professor of over forty years I should have been more patient with her and recognized youthful excitement and am retracting my previous comments. They will be installing my cabinets in about a week and I will update and complete my review after the installation. This rating is based on the manner in which Xi handled the situation.

We worked with Shawn Liiu from Cabinet City on kitchen cabinets. He checked and rechecked the measurements to ensure a smooth installation. He made numerous excellent recommendations for a layout with a few challenges. The installers from Cabinet City, Ricardo & son, also did an excellent job. They took their time and worked closely with us over the 2 day installation process. Great job all around.

The staffs assume you to know the standard measurements of their cabinets and how things are arranged like you work in a cabinets company. When questions were asked, the staffs always answered with an attitude. Like we are some sort of idiots. Well, when you go to see a doctor, he or she shouldn’t expect you to have any medical background and should try to explain everything in details until you understand. At least that’s the attitude a doctor should have. I understand that the staffs there do not necessarily have the same education level as doctors but they absolutely have the wrong attitude when serving customers.

I shopped up and down San Gabriel Valley/​Walnut Grove, Home Depot and Lowe’s for cabinets for 2 kitchens. The first time I purchased custom built ones. The second time I bought from Cabinet City as it amounted to $ 3500 less than my Mexican custom cabinet guy’s quote for similar standard cabinets and countertop. Cabinet City was a few hundred dollars more than 2 of its competitors (i.e importer/​retailer of good quality cabinets and countertops from China) but it got my business because 1) Mike, my sales guy, impressed me with his efficiency, responsiveness and pleasant demeanor; and 2) the other stores tried to upsell, took too much time to figure out the size and number of cabinets to fit the space, hem and hawed about the distance of the job site (Crestline, CA). Mike simply charged me $ 150 more for his installer’s travel time and gas which is fair.
Mike sent someone to Crestline to double check my measurements; the $ 120(?) fee was waived as I purchased from him. The cabinet installer and the countertop guy showed up at the appointed times to do their part. The cabinet installer is a dear, the countertop guys not such dears. It took two days to install the cabinets including building supporting frames for my built in oven. The countertop guys came the second day to do their part. Neither installer spoke English but we understood each other well enough to get the job done to my specification. When there was misunderstanding over the job, Mike was called to clarify.
All in all I am delighted with my purchase and will gladly recommend Mike and Cabinet City to my friends. I got the quality kitchen I want at significant savings. The cabinets look, feel and work like top quality ones. The countertop was masterfully cut so it closely hugged the walls. What complaints I have are minor and easily rectified/​avoided as I was on site to look over the installers’ shoulder. For instance, white latex was used instead of clear silicone to caulk the countertop; the backboard purchased for the peninsula looked cheap and had to be replaced with a skin I provided.

I used Cabinet City for my kitchen remodel and I could not be happier with the product and service. Mike Wang was my salesperson and the service was excellent. Although the RTA cabinets at Cabinet City was priced slightly higher then other RTA cabinet importers, Cabinet City’s RTA cabinets were the only cabinet importer in the area that had one piece solid cabinet doors. This is important because I ended up picking the white shaker. White shaker cabinets tend to have micro cracks at the joints because they are usually constructed with a two piece system. Frame/​MDF in the center. Not Cabinet City. The staff at Cabinet City, especially Mike, was very attentive to my concerns and answered my installer’s questions promptly. I also found the hardware for my cabinets provided by Cabinet City a much higher quality then other cabinet importers. If you are searching for higher end RTA cabinets, do not think twice about Cabinet City.

Cabinet City installed the cabinets for my kitchen and 2 bathrooms in 2010 and reflecting back 6 years later, I’d say that my opinion of the cabinets fluctuates between 3.5 stars (slightly more than «A-​OK») and 4.5 stars (slightly more than «Yay! I’m a fan»).
I’d say the only time the cabinets truly were «problem-​free» was the 1^st year. However over the next 5 years, I’ve had to do a lot of minor fixes.
– One of the cupboard doors with the soft-​closing hinges wouldn’t close all the way, and I had to give it an extra push constantly in order for it to close. This problem only affected one of the cupboard doors out of the many that were installed. After experimenting with tightening/​loosening the screw settings on the hinges, I would often have a temporary fix which would last for a bit before the problem would come back.
– Several of the pull-​out drawers and pull-​out trays have dislocated multiple times from the brackets that connect them to the cabinetry. This has definitely been a chronic problem for a deep drawer located closer to the floor, where I would store my kitchen odds & ends. When I spoke recently to Xi at Cabinet City about this, he told me it is common for it to pull off the bracket if you pull slightly vertically instead of purely horizontally. I asked him if it needs to be glued onto the bracket so that it doesn’t pull off, and he replied No, just try to avoid any vertical pulling.
– Many of the handle bars that I pull for the drawers have become loose. Most of the time this can easily be fixed just by tightening the screw simply with a screwdriver.
– One of the handle bars fell off the drawer because the metal screw somehow actually snapped, about a year ago. I paid a couple unsuccessful visits to Home Depots trying to acquire replacement screws, but none matched the size. I finally recently called Cabinet City to explain my predicament, and a girl who picked up the phone told me just to go to Home Depot. She sounded irritated by the call, so I asked to speak to Xi, and the girl replied that he was not in. I called Xi’s cell phone instead and he told me to come on in and he’d help me out. I was already in the vicinity so walked in 5 minutes later and there he was at his desk. I was kind of confused by the negative interaction with the irritated girl on the phone, and the positive interaction with Xi. Xi eventually gave me a handwritten note and sent me to their adjacent warehouse to pickup replacement screws. Over at the warehouse, an older man and woman discussed the issue in Mandarin (not in a rude way) and talked about how I should just get them at Home Depot. I replied in Mandarin that I’d already been to Home Depot a few times and they did not carry the screw, and that Xi told me that the screw was a custom size. The man proceeded to rummage through a drawer filled with random hardware of all shapes and sizes, and eventually found a few screws that matched the one I needed. I asked if I could pay for it and he declined payment, saying there’s no need… as long as I’m satisfied.
– Some of the brackets that connect the drawers/​trays to the cabinetry have themselves become loose and detached from the cabinetry. This has generally been –I believe– simply due to use and the weight of the drawer, and the screws have detached from the wood. Fortunately, the brackets had other locations where I could stick the screw in and create a new attaching point to the cabinetry. I know that things like this are bound to happen due to regular use… but I didn’t expect it to happen just 5 years in. My expectations may just be unrealistic.
Overall, despite having multiple minor and recurring problems with the cabinetry, I am still satisfied. Fortunately, all of these minor problems have been relatively easy to fix or address.

I have used Cabinet City three times for the remodeling of three units in our apartment building. We have received excellent service, beautiful, high quality cabinets at a very reasonable price. I will be using them in the future again and highly recommend them.

Shopped around and this was the only place that was willing to give me a quote on paper, some places told us the price they had was only good for that day, did not get that response from mike and cabinet city. I have been working with cabinet city for a while and they are one of my vendors.
Things started on good terms a while back and I feel like their product has gone really bad. Off colors, a lot of cracks in the drawer boxes and frames.
However I will admit the customer service is good especially hang and XI. I really love the people working there but I think the company should work on their product especially when they price a little higher than other vendors.

Cabinet City installed beautiful cabinets a year ago! The installer (Alex) was a professional all the way through the installation process. One of the hinges broke a year later and they replaced it no questions asked (three year warranty) they even showed me how to install it because it was slightly different than the original. I gave this company five stars because of the quality of their products, the outstanding workmanship and the warranty they provide. I would recommend Cabinet City to anyone looking for quality products and workmanship!

I think the cabinets look great on the outside, but its not practical. You lose a lot of cabinet space if you use this product, which is one of my biggest dislike about it. Between every 2 cabinets you connect together you lose about 2 inches of width. Can you imagine how much actual space you lose overall with all the cabinets combined? That is not something you would realize when you just stare at these beautifully designed cabinets.
When you have issues with the cabinets, they do exchange parts. I’ve heard that they give you a hard time, but my experience is they gave you whatever part back but it doesn’t match the original. When you go to them, they design the cabinets for you. I DO NOT LIKE THEIR DESIGN. Let me repeat myself, I DO NOT LIKE THEIR DESIGN. They give you whatever cabinets to carelessly fit the design without considering how much cabinet space you lose. They do a crappy job in design. Really is a big huge bad experience for me. There is something about the way the cabinets are, it makes the kitchen look smaller than it used to. Again… whoever designed this is brainless because there was a lack of drawers. It was all for their convenience of selling whatever cabinets they have. They never once consider how someone would use the space.
The shelves are not built in, but hanging on a nob. Because of this, the sales guy told me that you can’t put a lot of heavy items on the shelves. That’s kinda pointless to me because you have to put bowls, plates, pots and pans in kitchen cabinets and they get heavy.
The only plus side I see from this is it looks nice.

In addition to remodeling and a facelift, Our challenge was maximizing kitchen storage and countertops space.
Xi with cabinet city did a fantastic job designing a couple of diff layouts. He did the majoring and recommended a couple changes, that worked out great.
The selection maybe limited compare to other super stores in southern Cali, but customer care and prices are well worth it.
Also had cabinet city install cabinets and granite top.
Installers were flexible with my schedule. Worked a solid 12 hrs day to get the job done on time.
Ask for Mr. Zhang, for all your granite and back splash installation.
Quality is superb, design is classy, customer care is well above average.

cabinet. The staffs were very helpful, patient and Informative. The price is very reasonable compare to any other places you can ever think of. I highly recommended them if you are looking for one. We will definitely going back for the future remodeling.

Cabinet city did an awesome remodel on our family’s kitchen. We were able to customize everything to what we wanted, the crew did a great job and were very efficient. We have a small kitchen and they were able to maximize the space available. They finished quickly and we are very happy with the results! I highly recommend them to everyone who wants a brand new kitchen with quality materials!

My husband and I are first time home owners and decided to remodel our kitchen and bathrooms. We looked at numerous cabinet stores for the white shaker style cabinets for our kitchen. It was so hard to find one that was of good quality and price. Most of the samples we had seen at different stores had cracks at the corners of the door. I didn’t like that and was determined to find a place that had better quality and craftsmanship.
We then found ourselves at Cabinet City. Everyone there was so nice and made sure we were being helped. Xi assisted us and was very patient, understanding and informative. He showed us a sample of their white shaker and of course first thing I look at are the corners =P. The color of the shaker was a nice white and there were no cracks in the corners! My eyes lit up and I told my husband this is the one, and my husband agreed. We were so happy that we finally found the ONE and now can move on to other things.
Their prices are reasonable especially for the quality and craftsmanship of their cabinets. The crew that Xi sent over to install our cabinets were really efficient and took their time to get every door and handle aligned. We also bought our bathroom vanities from them in both white and espresso shaker along with our Quartz countertop. The installers for the countertop did an exceptional job in custom fabrication including an under mount sink install. Thank you Xi for all that you have done for us and we will be using you again for our second home in the future.
