I love Dr.Chou. She is so patience and experienced. I am so lucky to have her be my doctor.

We had very good experience with Dr. Cindy Chou. She helped to take care my first baby. We think that she did a great job from beginning to the end. My wife wants to go back to see her if the second baby comes.

The first thing you’ll notice about Dr. Chou is that she’s soft spoken. But when you ask her questions, she very thorough in her reply.

I Love Dr. Chou. My sister in low referred me here, she had her two kids delivered by Dr. Chou, she had realy good experence with her. Yes it is a great choice
to be seen by Dr. Chou, she cares about her patient, she always takes her time answer all my questions, even I am in medical field too, but when things come to myself, especially to be a first time mom, I always have million questions, even lots time I know the answer, I still want get a for sure answer from Dr. Chou. I have never felt to be rushed out! Highly recommened. If I could rate 6 stars I would do so. Oh, plus her front desk receptionists are super helpful and super nice to me every time.

I highly recommend Dr. Chou. She delivered our baby boy last week. We’ve been visiting her throughout my pregnancy and I intend on keeping her as my OB. She is straight forward and her office workers are quick to address any issues or messages that need to be dealt with.
Know that you should come prepared with a list of questions as a new parent to be and she will answer them.

No return phone call from Dr Chou or even a nurse despite telling them in the morning that I was pregnant and experiencing significant bleeding. I asked the person who took the call what to do and she said she’d leave a message for the doctor and that I needed to wait for a return call. Hours later I ended up going to the ER after receiving no call back. The ER doctor finally reached Dr. Chou in late afternoon. She had been in surgery. I don’t understand why the office has no protocol for dealing with patient issues when the doctor is unavailable. A nurse should’ve called me at least instead of letting me spend hours in anxiety and at risk.
When I called the following day to come in, I was told they were expecting me first thing in the morning for an 8:30 am appointment. No one had told me that information. The reply from the office lady was, «oh, I don’t know what happened.» They also had no response as to why no one had called me back or to what their policy was for patients experiencing issues when the doctor is unavailable.
I rushed to the office to sit and wait for another hour.
Better hope you have a perfect pregnancy if you want to use this doctor’s office.

I went to see Dr. Chou today. And the short of it is, I won’t be going back. I had a 3:30 appt and waited until 4:45 to be called back into the room. I then waited another 15 minutes for Dr. Chou. I will say when she came in she was nice… However, as I was leaving, I asked the first woman I saw sitting behind the reception desk if there was anything else I needed or if there was a co-​pay. The woman didn’t acknowledge me for such a long time i thought she maybe didn’t hear me (which seemed completely impossibIe) so I said excuse me and she (still not looking at me) said to the other woman in the office, «Hey Lonnie, she wants to know if she has to pay.» To which Lonnie kindly replied, «No, you don’t pay unless we bill your insurance for something.» The other woman the started laughing and as I turned around to walk away she said, «Nice question.“It was so snarky that I was completely caught off guard. Maybe my question was silly, but really?! Wow. After having to wait for an hour and a half and the rude woman in the office, I’m sure I can find a better place…

Dr. Chou is an excellent dr! She def knows her stuff and I’m so happy that she delivered my first baby. I had a wonderful experience and would recommend her to anyone and everyone looking for a great ob! I referred her to one of my friends and she’s happy with Dr. Chou too! She knows her stuff and is very passionate about what she does. She’s very soft spoken and makes you feel very comfortable about everything. Thank you Dr. Chou!

Im so glad I found Dr. Cindy Chou. She is hands down the best ob I have had! This is my 3^rd baby. Dr. Chou made me feel so comfortable that I actually looked foward to seeing her as well as checking on babys development. She is not stuffy like some MDs can be. She is very knowledgeable and answered questions (I always had questions!!) without making me feel like I should already know because this is my 3^rd (unlike the last ob). She cares about her patients and I can tell she really loves what she does. Her staff is great also. very professional group. I especially like Lonnie! She is friendly and professional. I would recommend Dr. Chou to my friends and family.

I couldn’t be happier with Dr. Chou. She is so calm and kind and compassionate. She sees babies via ultra sound all day long and still gets giddy with you when you see your baby for the first time. She takes her time with you during your appointment and never ever makes you feel rushed. (but that does mean your wait time when you arrive will be a bit long as she is like that with all of her patients) She listens to your questions and concerns and addresses them all in a professional manner. I ended up with a C-​Section and she kept me safe and helped make sure that I healed well with no complications. She has safely delivered my two boys and I would trust her with a 3^rd if we do decide to have another. I just cannot speak highly enough about her. All of her office staff is so kind and friendly and caring as well. Overall a fabulous experience.

I love Dr. Chou. It didn’t start out that way though. The first baby that I had I was about to switch Dr’s due to the fact that the staff seemed less than competent. I am glad that I spoke to her and we resolved the issue and I stayed. Since then I have had 2 wonderful deliveries with her and a third on it’s way in a couple of months. The thing I love about Dr. Chou is that she is very calm and answers all your questions and doesn’t ever look at you like you’re asking a dumb question. The wait isn’t always ideal when you’re taking your lunch break for the Dr’s visit but I understand how it works so as annoying as it feels having to wait at times, I just have to relax and text my friends while I wait. I am thankful to have such a great Dr. caring for me and my babies.

This is a review for Dr. Chou, and her staff. While I don’t recall any outstanding issues with setting up my wife’s appointments, I know that some conversations on the phone could have gone smoother, but altogether were NOT showstoppers.
When my wife found out she was pregnant, we did a survey for the most recommended OBGYNs in our area (friends, coworkers, online reviews, pcp referral). Out of 3, we chose Dr. Chou, and we DO NOT REGRET IT! Dr. Chou is an EXCELLENT doctor (repeating this from Corey’s post on purpose). While her office may have caused some issues, I wouldn’t let this be a deterrent for those who seeking great OBGYN care, and can get her services.
Throughout our appointments with Dr. Chou, she showed herself to be extremely knowledgeable, caring, and sensitive to my wife’s needs as well as my own. Her explanations of risk (our baby was breech) and her recommendations were spot on. Her patient care is great, especially for this specific type of practice (OBGYN, where there are always challenges): each appt. she was calm, caring, very thoughtful of her responses, and always very sensitive to our own responses. We had a few appointments where the news was not so great (the breech, some labs, etc.), but throughout each visit, Dr. Chou’s demeanor gave us the sense that she cared, my wife’s and baby’s health were her utmost concern, and she was concerned and considerate for our emotional well-​being after leaving her office each visit. Her style is very conservative when my wife had some issues; when we compared notes with friends/​colleagues who had similar experiences, we found that their OBGYNs sometimes were more permissive. But we appreciate and thank her for being conservative! And yes, she is a very busy doctor, with a very busy schedule: one time we found an early morning (9am) appointment, and found out that she had a delivery at 3am that morning. But neither my wife nor I could tell, as she was on time for our appointment, and did not appear or act anything less than fully expert and engaged in our appointment.
Our baby was born healthy C-​section, and we couldn’t be more thankful for Dr. Chou’s professionalism, expertise, and empathy.
We TRUSTED HER and we WOULD TRUST HER AGAIN for anything OBGYN related.
Looking at the negative reviews, it’s really too bad that there were situations from her office, that ultimately reflect on her. It is true, she is responsible for her office. It’s also too bad about how insurances/HMO’s make the choices of who we want for doctors difficult as possible. It really sucks, as I’m going through that on my own right now with an Orthopedic surgeon I want (which my old insurance supported, but in my new one he’s out of network, and there’s where the trouble starts). I personally don’t blame it on my surgeon, as he’s awesome as well. But I can understand how some of the reviews show the negative experiences. I just think they should be based on actual experiences with her practice. Ultimately, its your choice how you want to go about finding your health care providers, but when it comes to health and wellbeing of your family everybody should do as much homework as possible.
As an aside, I had planned to write this last year after our baby was born, while everything was still fresh, but our little girl kept us busy for the last few months :).

Dr. Chou really knows what she is doing when it comes to having a baby. I went to her for my 3^rd child and despite having delivered my first two 3 weeks early, I was able to go full term for my third and even had to be induced. I had a beautiful healthy baby girl and Dr. Chou handled the delivery with such professionalism and care. She made sure I was as comfortable as possible during the delivery and kept me up to date on how the baby was doing until she came out into the world.
The only problem I had with her Santa Anita office while I was pregnant with my 3^rd were the office staff (specifically the nurses) who either didn’t know what they were doing or were just plain rude and unaccommodating. I had to call several times to complain and even write a complaint letter to get some feedback, but I think Dr. Chou has resolved the issue with her staff. Additionally, the wait time is over a half an hour so make sure to set your appointment early enough to accommodate a long wait time. But Dr. Chou is worth the wait because she has the experience and most importantly, she really cares for her patients and makes sure she is the one who delivers your baby.

Horrible experience. Truly horrendous.
Just a quick backdrop. An innocent attempt to update records with my wife’s HMO results in her getting kicked out of her group and reassigned to another doctor when she was 3 – 4 months pregnant.
We took it as a sign, and since she didn’t love her OB, to find one we liked. Dr. Chou came recommended by a couple of folks so we thought we’d try with her. I contacted her office and confirmed 1) the Groups they took (they took 2 different ones) and 2) that she was accepting new clients.
I confirmed this twice. It took a whole lot of work and coordination to get the right group into place with my wife’s HMO plan. It was a major pain in the rear, let me tell you.
We finally got everything squared away and spoke with her office again. We told them our situation, and asked how we could facilitate a visit b/​c my wife had already missed her first checkup with the OB during this time. My wife had to drop by their office, pick up a release of info slip, and fill it out. They told us they would get the info from her current OB and that’s what we needed to do.
Nothing happened. Followed up and they didn’t send or receive the info. My wife then has to take time, call both offices, and coordinates the transfer of records. More time passes, and this being our first child, we were super nervous going for that long w/​o a checkup. We finally coordinate everything and Dr. Chou’s office (I believe it’s Lonny?) tells us that Dr. Chou won’t accept my wife as a new patient.
Say What?!
Actually, then her office told us that Dr. Chou would accept her if and only if we signed up with the other group. Um, wouldn’t that info be pertinent when we began this process?
Next two days, my wife (with help from her boss), calls HealthNet and coordinates the changes to the group and all that it entails. Note that she called Dr. Chou’s office again just to confirm. Finally, all the pieces are in place and everything looks lined up and ready to roll…
Except that Dr. Chou again refuses to take my wife as a client.
Beyond furious is the word here. Caring about patients is apparently not what this doctor is about.
And really, it would have just been courteous to let us know at the very beginning, or really along any step of the way, that they were not going to accept my wife as a patient. We would have been fine. Instead, to go through all the insurance hell and the hoops for nothing, is just an insult.

Dr. Cindy Chou is an EXCELLENT doctor. My wife needed an emergency c-​section after we had just completed 37 weeks and Dr. Cindy Chou handled the whole situation with great composure and performed the c-​section perfectly. We were scared the whole time, but Dr. Chou’s voice and mannerism were very calming. Honestly, we were so lucky to have Dr. Chou as our obgyn as she turned a very scary moment of our life since it was an emergency c-​section to a calming atmosphere and performed brilliantly in the surgery room as everything went so swift and fast.
Also, regarding our experience with our check up visits with Dr. Chou, looking back she always would note to us all the important things we needed to know and do. All the things we had to ask her were actually not as very vital to the pregnancy; however, she always answered all of our questions and put an ease to our minds.

I was sent to Dr Chou by my regular Dr. when a ultrasound showed I have a friroid. Dr. Chou then sent me to have another ultrasound and said she would call me in a couple of days to meet and discuss my results. It made me happy to hear that, I told her my regular Dr. just sent my results in the mail which I did not appreciate. But a week passed and I had not heard from her. so my husband called and left a message for her. 2 more days and her receptionist finally calls my husband back and says yes her results are in I’ll have the Dr look at them when she gets a chance and call you back. My results sat there for one week and a half and my Dr. never called me as she said she would to meet and discuss. Two more days and Dr. Chou finally called me back. She told me straight up on the phone the results showed I have a couple of friroids not one, she told me the size and more bad news (which the specialist told me today was inaccurate, thanks for making me worried sick !)… Dr Chou told me all this over the phone including that I will need to have surgery. I thanked her for letting me know my results but asked why she waited a week and a half to call me with my results. Her excuse for not returning my call was she is busy with other patients. So rude and never apologized. She then Referred me to a a specialist for my surgery. I called that Dr. K.K. and had an app. for the following month. They said they needed all my previous test results so I called Dr. Chou,‘s office a week before my app. and let them know that Dr. K.K. who Dr. Chou sent me to needed all my ultrasounds and text results. The first receptionist that answered was Heidi. She said she would call Dr K.K. and get their fax number to send it right over. I then get a call from Heidi to the next morning saying she never found their fax number. I said okay I will call the office of Dr. K.K. myself and get their fax number. I called got a answer right away with the fax number. So, I called right back to Dr Chou’s office and asked for Heidi since I had already spoke with her but the girl that answered said she was out. Really 1 minute later okay… This girl said her name was «Dani» I told her everything and she then tells me she cannot fax my information over until I sign a release form.(the other receptionist never mentioned this) So I give her my husband’s work fax number, I go by his office and sign the release and fax it back. I called her to make sure she got it and she said yes I will fax your information right over. I said Thank you so much and trusted her word. Then the following week I show up to my app. with Dr.K.K. and they tell me they never received my info from «Dani» at Dr. Chou’s office. Really?! after you made me jump through hoops and even made me repeat the fax number 3 times you couldn’t fax my stuff over? Of course not incompetent person. I called right now and Heidi answered this time, she said I remember speaking with you, I will look for your file and send it right over… Which right over ended up being about an hour and a half. Too much, also she never asked anything about a release form? Seems to me like these receptionist are just giving me the runaround because they are LAZY or maybe they hate their job? THEY HAVE THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I have been a patient of Dr. Chou’s for the past 3 – 4 years for female problems, to put it nicely. I have had issues with some of her staff being unprofessional, not booking appointments properly or not billing my insurance correctly; with the exception of Lonnie. So I only speak with Lonnie to book appointments, etc to minimize my frustration. Lonnie knows what she is doing. Back to Dr. Chou, she is soft spoken but very thorough, knowledgable and careful with my care. I’m glad I found her. It is hard to find a good GYN. Most people gave unfavorable reviews based on her staff. Dr. Chou is a quality doctor who may need her staff to be more organized, but I would rather put up with some disorganization from staff to have a stellar Doctor.

Dr. Chou delivered my son in October and I have nothing but the highest compliments and respect for the job she did and the care, comfort, and peace-​of-​mind she provided my wife.
It took me and my wife a couple visits to warm up to Dr. Chou, but in the end, I consider meeting her a blessing. At first we thought she seemed aloof or uncertain, which was a total misjudgment on my part. I realize now that I was judging her with the impatience and skepticism of a first time father. Looking back at the experience, I can see now that she has complete respect for the diversified beliefs of ALL her patients, hence the lack of conviction in telling you what’s best for YOUR pregnancy. Not everyone wants /​don’t wants epidural /​c-​section /​circumcision /​etc /​etc /​etc as part of their birth plans. So she’s not going to push you one way or another.
Trust her, though. Have you ever completed a job, and when you get home, find yourself nodding to yourself and feeling awesome for doing such a fine job? I bet that’s what Dr. Chou feels like when she gets home every day, cause she’s frickin good at what she does. I’ve seen her in the delivery room and she is a rock star.
Don’t just take my word for it. Ask around. When we toured our delivery hospital, every staff member we spoke with had nothing but praises for her. (You can tell. the conversations weren’t just: «Oh cool, Dr. Chou». It was more like: «Excellent Doctor! You are in great hands.») And every nurse we worked with showed the utmost respect for her.

On a side note, Dr. Chou’s San Gabriel office is super busy. Wait time’s can be longer than comfortable for a pregnant woman, so you may want to bring a snack. I attribute it to the economy picking up and it being the year of the dragon. Hang in there. She’s worth the wait.

My primary suggested Dr. Chou. I have been very disappointed in Dr. Chou’s lack of knowledge or help me in regards to trying to conceive. She provided zero insight on things to work on while trying to conceive, next steps that would need to be taken, and demonstrated very little compassion.
In addition, I have had to follow up multiple times on each test I requested: Blood work and ultrasound. I had to call again today to find out where my referral was so that I can go to a fertility specialist. The person I spoke to this morning said she would call me back in a few minutes. I never heard from anyone again. It has been over two weeks since Dr. Chou told me she would send me the referral. I finally called my HMO insurance and they told me I had to obtain the referral from Dr. Chou before I can move forward.
This has been an incredibly frustrating journey and more so because Dr. Chou does not seem to really care.

Dr. Chou is gentle, extremely nice, patient, and although a bit soft spoken showed concern when needed.
Be prepared with questions as she may not offer her take or advice on your pregnancy.
