Had to come here to get a breathalyzer installed in my car. The guy that works there is very helpful and nice. Had it installed in minutes and when it came for the removal, it took literally seconds for the removal. He will even crack jokes if he finds a violation on your device, which I had a few and didn’t mind it. I would recommend this place if you the cops got you and had to get an interlock device installed in your vehicle.

No problems for me. I have a smart start IID installed elsewhere but I come here to service it. I’m always in and out with in 5 minutes. They also sell CD players install alarms and other things. The owner is also really nice

I had an IID installed in my car and had to have it for a year. I loved this place the owner is very helpful and he answered all of my questions and always helped me out when I would call him with questions as well. I would recommend this place to everyone. He also installed a new touch screen radio in my car with bluetooth and it works amazing. He helped ease the process of it all.

I had Smart Start for a year. Yeah it sucks so it helps that at least here the owner is great. He’s knowledgeable, reasonable and easy going. Looking forward to coming back for a sound system or alarm!

The owner knows what he’s talking about. Came here after having no luck with best buy or even Toyota dealerships while trying to install an aftermarket deck in my 2005 corolla. They fixed the problem and even had parts that Toyota didn’t even know they needed. I am impressed with the service and personal attention. I will come here again when it’s time to upgrade for my speakers. Great place!

Great shop. I got my smart start IID here and it was a free install. The owner of the shop was a really cool guy. They also install stereos and alarms at this place.

i had my interlock ignition device back in june. duc has always been helping from the day of installation to monthly services to my removal of the device today. there was a delay with the dmv authorization for removal and smart start wanted to charge me $ 50 instead of the $ 75 for uninstallation but duc talked to them on the phone and they waived that fee because i paid a service fee yeaterday which rolled into the uninstallation fee. although i wish not to have other friends get hit with a dui but when they do, i will refer them to db auto in san gabriel. thanks again duc.

the gentlemen there is very nice. and does a great job on whatever your car needs. good quality work and also fast. I highly recommend for anyone that needs a car alarm or stereo for their car. shows you how the product works until you understand it. I will be coming back for a new alarm.

This is definitely the place to come if you’re a fellow DUI offender and need an IID for your car. Mr. Nguyen gets straight to the point and does things in a quick and efficient manner. Every time I have been there for a monthly service, I’m always in and out in less than 10 – 15 minutes. He might seem a little distant and standoff-​ish at first but he’s a really nice guy and very helpful. This is the place to go!

This place is great! I called earlier and Duc stated that he was busy this morning but he could take care of me at 1pm. As soon as I got there we look at my replacement head unit and he discussed a couple options, then he gave me a fantastic quote. I told him just do a good job and I’ll be happy. Well… I’m extremely happy. He very fast and does a very nice job too. I highly recommend this place for car stereo and alarms. Great guy, great prices and excellent work.

I don’t understand why some guy said that the owner was rude. I’m writing this as I wait for him to install the device in my car. He was incredibly nice to me, even after I had to rush back home to find my registration. Nobody wants a breathalyzer in their car, so maybe that’s why people were complaining. Overall, I had a good experience here, despite the situation.

Mr. Nguyen is a very nice man. He does seem a little stand offish at first, but he just warms up slowly. I have to admit when I first started dealing with him (for some equipment that needed to be installed), he seemed a little rude but I think that is just a cultrual thing that we as americans do not understand. After a short time Mr. Nguyen was actually very nice and humerous. Maybe try to be understanding and accepting rather than judgemental. His work is really very good.

This place is terrible, worst customer service… the old Asian guy who helped us was very rude. I do not recommend.

If you’re reading my review, I’d say there’s a 95% chance that you got a DUI and you need to have an ignition interlock device (IID) installed on your ride. If your lazy and don’t like to read, don’t come to this shit place and go to Draeger Safety Diagnostics in Whittier. **** DO NOT SPEND ANY MONEY HERE **** Rated F for service and F on pricing because they will RIP YOU OFF ****
Called around and checked out various installers that the DMV provided. Found this place down the street from my house and offered FREE install. Called the installer and set up an appt. Other places charged $ 25-​$ 30 that’s why I was sold.
Arrived on time and the owner/​franchisee/​installer made me watch this instructional video. Told me how much it was going to cost and made me initial and sign on the lease agreement. $ 84.84 to be exact a month for 5 month (1^st offense is 5 months). This guy grabs all the equipment and tells me to go wait outside or to come back in 30 minutes. This is in the middle of May and it’s at least 90 outside, 2:30 in the afternoon. His friend is on the couch reading the newspaper and chilling in front of the ac. I told him I have no where to go and I’ll stock around until the job is done. He tells me again to wait outside. I asked why can’t I sit inside on the couch? That is your customer waiting room right? Its hot outside I told him. He then made it clear that I had to wait outside and that his friend was leaving. I flipped out. I have never heard such a thing so I had to let him have it. After I chewed him out, he STFU and got to work. I waited outside for about 15 minutes. The job was done.
The IID known as Smart Start, the one I chose to install in my car was the biggest mistake I’ve made since I got the DUI besides opting to pay the $ 1800 fine or Caltrans (I chose county jail, which is even worse). For the remaining 5 month, I must have blown at least 10K times. This unit, supposedly 1^st gen would beep every 15 – 25 minutes after the initial startup blow, no matter where you were on the road and you must blow into the unit until you get a pass. This is all within 6 minutes. If you don’t register a pass within the 6 minutes, it will register as a fail. You have 6 violations a month. If you use all six within the month, you would have to call corporate and obtain a bypass key. Which costs around $ 80. Luckily I had never had this happen but I was very close. If you don’t call for that bypass key/​number, you can not start your car. Period! I know this don’t make much sense but try YouTubing IID/​SMART START COMPLAINT and I remember seeing a video posted by some girl expressing her frustrations. Trust me on this who ever you are. Thank me later BC I’m about to save you a lot of time/​trouble and BS that this installer and this company called Smart Start has done to me.
I’ll try to cut this short.
Once this is installed, you will get a certificate, which you have to turn into the DMV or you have to mail it to DMV Sacramento. When they receives this form, I think it’s called DL924, that’s when the clock starts ticking. You can remove it 5 months after they receive this form, not 5 month from the date of the install.
There was a gap from my install day and the day I had the form turned to the DMV. Had to pay an additional $ 84.84 for 9 extra days of use, additional monthly charge can not be prorated. Rip off… OK.
So finally the day comes to remove this POS machine. The dude tells me $ 100 is the removal fee. Shows me this size 8 font agreement on the very bottom of the lease contract. I said fine. F it, get over it, I’ll pay the fing $ 100. I tell him I need another form DL922 so I can turn it to the DMV to relieve me of any future liability. He tells me I don’t need it. I call corporate to verify, they confirmed DL922 is required or else I’m not off the hook. Corp tells me they will overnight thr forms to the installer and to go back the next day. I return the next day for the form. There’s at least 10 different fields that he has to fill out including your full name, address, DL number, and VIN. How can you tell me that I don’t need this form? This is not the 1^st time that you removed a IID device. This is not your 1^st day as a franchisee. Mofo was BSing me. Its been a month now and I’m still pissed of at how this installer has treated me as a client. Please go somewhere else and save you the anger and pain. I wish there was a review of this place b4 I came here. Hope my exp will help you out. That’s what its all about and I know your hurting right now.

I came here after reading the good reviews this place got on Unilocal.My alarm for my car wasn’t working and didn’t want to take it to the dealership due to the high cost. I decided to stop by here and didn’t regret it. For $ 195 I got a new alarm with lifetime warranty and it worked very well. The people here are real professional and helpful and also showed me how to use it if there were certain situations. I highly recommend this place to fix your alarm.
