Howard’s TV and Appliance

We bought a washer and dryer here. our dryer broke down a year later, we didn’t buy the warranty on it thinking that because they were new they we would t have any problems with it. This Frigidare dryer has given us problem after problem. The repair guys kept coming back. The reason why I give the store 1 star it’s because their service sucks… every time I called for repair they never had my name or my address right. They take forever to answer, and the customer service people are very rude. I am never buying anything from Howard’s again!

every pieces of shit we brought from Howard’s had some sort of problem. from the washer and dryer burning our clothes to the refrigerated which did not freeze or get cold enough to the microwave to now our oven, 6 fuckin days from thanksgiving.
this is our first fucking oven. the oven will turn on the clock works but it won’t bake. the coils won’t even light up, at all!!!
what the fuck kind of business is this place.
I know what your thinking, why the fuck are you still buying shit from here?! yeah my fucking father is a sucker. you can sell him a half eaten sandwich. all you need to do is compliment him.
Howard’s is a fucking joke!!! I still don’t know why there still in business. why haven’t they turn this place into another Chinese market!!!

The salesmen here are pushy! I am not a fan. My family and I dropped by this place because we wanted to buy a new set of washer and dryer. We came the first time and spoke to someone who kept pushing us to purchase a set. However, I did appreciate that he took the time to explain why he felt that one was better than the other.
Here comes the negatives, I asked him if he can show me what one of the washer and dryer can do or if there’s a catalog showing it’s features. He responded that it’s available online… what does this mean? His position is worthless if I can get the information online. Second, we decided to shop elsewhere and compare some prices. We told him that we will be back if we make a decision to make a purchase from Howard’s. He proceeds to tell us that he won’t be in the office for the next 4 days and that we should wait until he returns. I told him that we were in a rush because our dryer was broken and that we would be back the next day. He said its fine, but to come back in 5 days. That shows me that he only cared for the commission. Fast forward 2 days, we arrived and decided to make a purchase. The new salesman didn’t show us anything! He walked us straight to his desk to book the purchase. He finds that it is not in stock and ask us to buy something that is available. If not, we’d have to wait 3 weeks. We told him that we are set on a particular set, but he smirked and told us it will take awhile. We told him that Home Depot did not have it in stock, but will have it in inventory much sooner. He starts to tell us that they don’t accept gas and water rebates. I knew off the bat that it was a lie. That drew the line and we left.
The price of the set of washer and dryer was lower by $ 50 compared to major retail stores. However, that $ 50 was not worth the horrible service we were given. I do not recommend this place. The only reason why I am giving them 2 stars is because they are willing to let you bargain, delivery and installation is free, and the prices are a little bit lower than major retail stores.

Purchased an air conditioning unit from these guys and I have to say it was one of the worst shopping experiences I’ve had as far as customer servuce. First the girl disappears for 15 minutes after taking our credit card and I.D. (I went looking for her and found her sitting down in on the other side of the store talking to another associate), when I asked for help out to the car as I have a bad back, her reply was «well everyone is busy» (there was 3 customers in the entire store including me and 6 associates that I could visibly see). I explained that I need help because I have a slip disk in my lower back and can’t lift heavy objects, to which she replied «well I can help you to the door of our store but it’s up to you to get it to the car»… I was parked curbside in front of the store! My wife purchased a unit from them yesterday and we came back together to get a 2^nd unit for the other bedroom, if it wasn’t for their ridiculous «all sales are final and no return, exchange or store credit is allowed», I’d return both units and take my business elsewhere! If you plan to give these guys your business, do so knowing they don’t give a flying poop about you, customerservice, your safety or your business. And all sales are final! Even on defective product. Once you walk out the door, it’s final!

this used to be the #1 place to buy large appliances but what happened? They haven’t caught up with technology, and their old fashioned ways of hard selling is so out of date its insulting. I am so sorry to see this icon fall. Terrible experience.

My family has always purchased large appliances from Howard’s in San Gabriel. I stopped by there twice last week before Memorial Day Weekend Sales… to checkout the refrigerators. First time they had a Fridgidare w/​silver front… and side black… for $ 499. I went on Labor Day Saturday… and looked at the $ 499 frige and it was silver on sides too, which are normally more expensive than the $ 499 sale. I was happy about that… but recieved the frige with the black sides, not silver. I called and spoke with Sizel, Asst Mngr… and he started arguing with me before he ever asked me my name! Then I told him that I had a defective freezer door, and wanted someone to come back to see if they could fix itI NOPE they didn’t have anyone until the next day. I said forget it and called back for the manager!
The lady said that the manager was not there and the best time to call him is 10am because he is in meetings most of the morning. I left my phone number, because I hadn’t decided whether they should come back and fix it … or just get rid of the frige to avoid future problems! The manager did NOT call me, so I left a message with the receptiionist… this was 10am. At 11:30 I drove back to Howards… and there I met the Manager Calvin at the front desk doing noooothing!!! I was furious!!! These people have the man power to SELL but don’t care how much of your time they WASTE to fix items when they are defective! I TOLD HIM HE HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE… AND HE SAID THAT THEY DON’T HAVE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! OMG… EXACTLY CALVIN!!!
WILL FOLLOW UP WITH THIS TOMORROW WHEN THEY COME AND GET THEIR REFRIGERATOR… AND THEY BETTER NOT CHARGE ME I SAID!!! UGH!

FYI… this review is for the Howard’s in Alhambra on Main Street. It is sooo much better than the one in San Gabriel!!!
So, my washer died and I did my research and found a machine that was in my budget at Sears. After a series of really rude associates I was trying to get to help me with getting the washer I had ordered… long story, short I canceled my order and started my search all over again. That is when I decided to go to Howard’s, and found practically the same washer (since Kenmore machines are made by other companies like GE and Whirlpool) at Howard’s at the same price, and delivery and installation were included. The machine was delivered at the earliest part of the window, so I didn’t have to sit around forever and the guys who delivered it were really nice and were extra careful not to scratch my wood floors. I have my washer, installed without having to pay the $ 60+ for delivery or the $ 119+ for installation like I would have had to pat at Sears.

Just brought a side-​in range and frig… Store is ok, prices is the same compare to othe department store… I tried going to sears outlet but it horrible

I hate to do this but I’d actually feel guilty if I didn’t warn others of how atrocious this place really is.
Went in to buy $ 4,000 of appliances last weekend since we’ve had okay luck with a refrigerator and washer we purchased 1 ½ years ago here.
The people they sent to deliver the goods would make Dumb and Dumber look smart. It was a parade of «can’t“s, «not my job“s, and excuses.
They couldn’t get the refrigerator out that THEY installed because it wouldn’t fit through the door! (How the heck did it get in in the first place???).
They didn’t bring the right tools to install the stove!
Howard’s couldn’t (or wouldn’t) do anything about it when I called them.
We’re left holding the bag over their incompetence. Will never buy anything here again. Horrible service.

Momma needed a new fridge. Came in totally out of respect for mom. I was already shopping best buy but she came by the day before and wanted to show me the one she wants. So what momma wants… Momma gets. Met Faisal (salesman) he was actually pretty good. Not very aggressive and gave us our space and when I had a question he was there ready to assist. That I liked. Not too pushy. The store had that old feel of a used car lot. It’s the old ways of running an appliance store and I guess they’re sticking to that concept. Anywho we ended up getting the floor model as it was 15% off and the only damage to it was a lil dimple on the bottom of the front door. Didn’t matter cause the fridge was going in the garage anyways. It’s all set for delivery and Faisal did us proud.

Bought a washer, dryer, and refrigerator four years ago. The washer started giving me problems after about 3 months. Spent another $ 375 to fix it. Still didn’t work. I’ve been manually turning the switch when I do the laundry. Not fun. I’m finally giving up and going to Sears to get a new one.
The handle off of the refrigerator broke within one year; had to glue it back on.
The dryer works okay.

I was pleasantly surprised with our experience here purchasing a refrigerator. After frustrating trips to Best Buy and Sears, it was refreshing to have a salesperson who really knew his products; didn’t try to force us into something we couldn’t afford or didn’t; need; and directed us to exactly what we needed. Also, there prices were better than Best Buy and Sears. I was surprised by that. Delivery and installation were the next day. Very pleasant overall experience.

This review is for the Delivery Only– Amando and his Partner. They gave us a window of (12−2pm) showed up on time, even in the rain! Both very Professional and was sure to ask if we wanted the old washing machine hauled away.
Total time of installation about 15 – 20 minutes? Super Fast. These guys got this down to a science.
*He was even kind enough to wipe the new machine down and adjust the legs to make sure the machine was NOT lop sided (firmly on the ground). Did some testing to make sure it was working/​not leaking from pipes.
SUPER INSTALLATION/​DELIVERY GUYS!

I wish I could review this as ½ a star or 0. (Although I don’t like to give low scores, but this place absolutely deserves it and more) I came here with my mom and fiancé a few months ago to purchase a stove. We ended up purchasing a stove because my mom did not want to go to all the hassle of searching for one all over.
The saleswoman who helped us was a Chinese woman (she speaks Mandarin and English), who is part owner of this store. Her name is Cara and she was not knowledgeable of the products and tried to sell us a stove anyway. We thought we would like to purchase a stove that did not have coils because they are easier to clean. When we asked Cara if it is easily to clean or easily scratchable, she said it is okay. You can use a sponge or a towel to clean it because it won’t scratch so easily. Well it is a good thing I read the instructions because it said under the cleaning section that you cannot use any abrasive surfaces (including a towel and the abrasive side of a sponge) on the stove or it will scratch. Even pots and pans can scratch the stove. I pointed this out and she just became silent, most likely trying to think of something to say to recover from the wrong things she said. But she didn’t say anything other than reminding us that we came in here looking for a stove w/​o any coils… yea that’s real effective… reminding the customer what they came in here for.
Anyways, we ended up purchasing a stainless steel stove w/​coils since we did not want to have a stove that is easily scratchable (I clean my stove after I cook often because I do not like to see grease stains on my stove. The longer you wait, the harder it is to clean). Cara was so pushy in having us purchase the warranty. I think warranties are sucker buys because manufacturers have their own warranties and by the time your product stops working properly, it would most likely be cheaper to purchase a brand new product. But my mom is all for warranties and since she paid for it, I didn’t make a big fuss about it. But I just didn’t like how Cara was so pushy and so insistent on getting it. Then after my mom purchased the stove, Cara told me to make sure that the product is in excellent condition when we get it delivered in 2 days and if there are any scratches, do not accept it. She told me to also call her if we have any problems.
Well two days later, we got our stove within the time frame we were quoted the day earlier. When the two delivery guys came, they would not install our stove. We had to hire our own handy may to do it (if you came to my house, you would understand that it was more than use plugging in the stove). I called Cara about the problem and then she said they are not supposed to and so we have to do it ourselves. But she never mentioned that to us when we purchased it 2 days ago. She was just giving us a lot of false promises so that she could make a sale… yea great customer service…
I would never purchase anything from Howard’s again, regardless of the location. The sales people working here remind me of the sleazy car salesmen who are not knowledgeable of their products and just tell you whatever you want just to make a sale. So stay away, you have been warned!

I cancelled my warranty less than a month after the purchase. Unfortunately, you can’t do it over the phone and you have to go in to the store and fill out some paperwork and you have to bring in your invoice for reference. I didn’t see the credit applied until 2 – 3 weeks later though. Process went fairly smoothly.

It has a nice selection of appliances

Don’t be deceived by their ads in Sunday newspapers. Sure, maybe their prices are okay, but the sales people are aggressive and the atmosphere is toxic. The sales people are friendly enough if they believe you’re a serious buyer. But, if you’re shopping around or comparison pricing, expect nothing less than stares — that is, if they bother to take notice of you at all.
Shop Amazon. Or even Best Buy. I honestly don’t know why you’d come here.

I just purchased a new $ 700 GE electric range from Howard’s in San Gabriel. They were out of stock on the model I wanted except for the one on the display floor. But it took only a week for them to get it in and schedule my delivery. They called during the evening to give me a 3-​hour time frame for delivery the next day. The guys were on time and very professional. I was a bit concerned because the new range had to be hauled up an interior stairway with a 180 turn but that was no problem for them.
Before I bought this, I had shopped around at several other appliance dealers and one major department store. For varying reasons, I was not happy with any of them. For one thing, Howard’s had fixed prices on what they sell which don’t continually fluctuate like some other stores. Other stores use price changes as a selling tool. You know the drill … «The sale ends tonight and you won’t get it at this price again.» I didn’t have to listen to this kind of BS at Howard’s. Their products are competitively priced.
The salesman I dealt with at Howard’s was Ray. It was a real pleasure doing business with him. He didn’t try to upsell me a more expensive product or pressure me into an extended warranty or anything else. He gave me a mail-​in rebate form for a $ 50 refund on the delivery charge. Interesting that he’s a guy about 50 years old and he told me that Howard’s is the only place he has ever worked since he was 17. So I assume that it must be a good place to work as well as a good place to go for major appliances or TV’s.

Good prices.
I got a frigidaire for like 450 before rebate. Stainless too. Plus they didn’t try any mumbo jumbo about why the 550 dollar one is better. They did try to sell their extended warranty thing, but dude, who’s going to pay 300 dollars to insure a 450 dollar fridge?

Cheap prices w/​o the hassle.
Bought a 18.2 cu ft stainless steel fridge (energystar) for about $ 450 (pre– tax) before rebates. The purchase was quick and easy — we finished everything within 15 minutes because we knew what we wanted already.
They shipped the fridge late by 2 hours which kinda sucks but oh well. We got what we wanted at a good price and plus free delivery!
We also looked at some of their TV’s but most were comparable to the costs at Costco.
