McKinley William Elementary School

If I could give this school zero stars, I would.
My daughter is SCARED of doing anything wrong on her homework and cries because she says the teacher will be very mad at her if anything is incorrect. **She is in her first month of KINDERGARTEN for god sakes.
My husband occasionally drops her off in the morning and the staff there is SO cold and rude to him! Today they didn’t even acknowledge or address him as he dropped her off. They didn’t even make eye contact with him. It was as if he were invisible.
They were a few minutes late so they had to get a late pass from the office. The woman in the office (wish he had gotten her name) asked him our daughters name. He said it 3 times. He even spelled it out for her. She pretended not to understand what he was saying.
** My husband has spent most of his life in California and speaks perfect English.
Then, she her didn’t even ask my husband for his name, she looked at my 5 year old and asked «What name should we put in your hall pass? Your Mommy’s name? No… Let’s put your Uncle Nick!»
My husband protested and said «I’m not her Uncle Nick, I’m her father!» She completely disregarded him, put down Nick on the hall pass and handed it to my daughter. Everyone in that office is BEYOND disrespectful and I’m interested to know what the State of California will do when I report this school for falsifying sign in information which is used in an emergency or if my child is missing to try and put the pieces together and recover her!
How often does this happen and how many other children do they write a random persons name down for? That should be illegal, and a terminable offense at any school. How insulting and unwelcomed we feel here! Total lack of diversity and cultural sensitivity! We plan on pulling our daughter from this hostile environment as soon as possible. Terrible experience.

Cool school I used to go there, lived right by the bridge about three houses away. So many good memories living out there.

I had never came here for education, so I don’t know anything about that.
But I do come here almost weekly during the weekend to ball kids up.
There is this manhole on the fence that allows people to go into the school, so that’s pretty cool. The lights near the benches never close, so we could just you know order some pizza or some shit and eat over there when its too dark or your friends are too fat to walk.
They have cool automatic lights on the grass that turn on when you don’t need em and when you actually do need em they turn off, so that’s pretty cool. Uhh its a pretty big place so if you wanna play hide ‘n go seek then you could get lost in this joint. But that’s why its fun, cause when you can’t find someone you just quit and sit at the benches so they could hide for dayz.
There’s also market carts that you can take inside the school and push your friends with. This place is so chill that one day we all assembled here to play basketball and ended up playing charades and no basketball at all, so the ball boy had to walk back home and never came back again.
Overall, you could do anything you want here during the weekends so thats pretty cool. Just don’t come around the bench area cause thats like our home turf so, if you don’t wanna get blasted, you know what to do.
