They don’t listen to you!!! They don’t pay attention to what you want them to cut and what you don’t want them to cut. I spent 2 months growing out my bangs and the lady just chopped them super short. it was a disaster. DEFINITION OF A BAD HAIRCUT.

Tom is simply the best. He’s popular so make sure you call ahead for an appointment.

Asked a friend for a recommendation on a place to get my haircut while I was in town and he spoke well of this place. I came in on a Friday afternoon and was seated immediately. The kind woman gave me a nice fade and gave my short hair a lovely, soothing rinse before sending me on my way.
Quick, friendly service, and a good price. Can’t ask for much more!

Excellent service and came in on Friday. Not a long line. They know some English but if you’re an only English speaker, you should communicate more and act friendly.

I’m never going back! They cut hair ok… but the customer service SUCKS! Waited for thirty minutes. The lady said make appointment for tomorrow and i did. When I came back at my appointment time they said it would be about 30 to 40min wait! WTF… I thought I made a appointment! Too many places to get your hair cut in SGV to be treated this way. Two stars because they can cut hair if you don’t mind the crappy service.

DO NOT COME HERE!!! Terrible customer service and no skill in cutting hair. Had this old asian lady cut my hair, no skill, I could have cut my own hair better blind folded. She was talking shit behind my back, but didn’t know that I understood Chinese. I just calmly watch her act out her bullshit, as she tried to joke with me in english after she talked shit behind my back in chinese to the other barber. Shes lucky I even paid for the hair cut, with service like that, you deserve to be unemployed. I just wanted to see how full of shit this place is without starting any drama. How is this place in business… skip this place, there are plenty of other good barber shops around the area. Hopefully she gets fired.

This is a good place to go for a hair cut in SGV. I have been going to different places to find a good barber at a reasonable price. Aside from the $ 10 haircut, Tom was amazing. He spent time to make sure that my hair looks the way I want it to look.
I definitely satiafied with my hair. I am definitely coming back.

Been to mona lisa for over 10 years now, and honestly tom has the ability to cut asian hair like no one else I’ve met. Also, for a $ 10 cut (does not include washing hair), it’s quite a difficult price to beat. make sure to tip nicely!

Never go back to this place again!!! Before my mom and I went there, a lady told us that it’s $ 12 /​person for short hair. My mom and I had bobo style and definitely short hair. After we arrived, the lady told us to wait 5 minutes but we had waited about 30 minutes!!! 90 percent of the clients were seniors who could not speak English. The most surprising part was they did not wash your hair because the hairstylist said our hair was so short and no need to wash! Most Ridiculous reason I’ve heard ever. I had waited for so long time and no one asked me even they had some stylists available. Just because my hair was short and they could not get enough tips!!! And 30 minutes later, finally a lady came to me and I told her I wanna bobo style, she told me she did not know what is bobo style, I said it again in Chinese, she seemed understood. So she started. But later I realized she did not understand at all but it’s too late!!! And this was not over, after she finished, there were so much cut hair here and there on my neck and chest, same for my mom, and they did not help to wash at all!!! For saving water and shampoo?!! I had to go to bathroom to wash by myself. The worst thing was when we went to front table to pay, the owner (it seems) asked $ 18 from each of us!!! She said we had middle long hair, even the stylist said we had short hair when she refused to wash our hair. My mom told me just give the money and leave cuz she could not stay there any longer. This is the worst hair salon in LA. Never go there!!!

This small little shop in a small little plaza is probably one of the best places to get your hair cut in 626. They are all really proficient in razor work. Prices are normal but for what you get its pretty cheap.

Definitely a great place to get your haircut. I’ve been going to this barbershop for the past 4 years now and have always received consistent haircuts from Tom. I can’t really say how well he cuts for women but he does do a great job cutting for men. You can definitely tell he is a perfectionist when he cuts your hair since he too really takes good care of his own hair. Within the four years I’ve been going to Tom, he has changed his hairstyle almost every year. Every time I come in to get my haircut, he already knows who I am and what style I want. If you want to change it up, just show Tom a picture and he can definitely do the job which I have done before and it came it out great.
As for the rest of the Monalisa crew, I’m pretty sure they are all great as well. Since I was referred by friend that Tom is great, I only stuck with him and he has never disappointed me ever since. You can he is the «male hairstylist expertise» at Mona Lisa as he is the only male barber there. But definitely if you want to check this place out, be sure to call in for an appointment as the place does get busy.

I’ve come here for many years and can say they are not overtly friendly but are very efficient, skillful, and overall very affordable! I cut my long long hair for only $ 18! Everyone there has been cutting for 10+ years, make sure you are clear about what cut you want.

Saw on Unilocal this place has good reviews so my bf called to see how much a haircut was. A haircut for a guy is $ 10. He asked the person who picked up the phone (the guy) if there was a wait and if we can come in and they said no wait. We came in 10 minutes after we called and the dude goes «OH I’M BUSY UNTIL 4» (which is 3 hours later!) «YOU HAVE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT»
Uhm, we talked to you on the phone 10 minutes ago and you said you WEREN’T BUSY. There wasn’t even anyone there!
The dude speaks Chinese and we are Vietnamese so I am thinking that was the problem why. My boyfriend and I are never coming back here.

First time here in possibly 20 years, and not much has changed including Tom. Same guy, same speed, same great haircut. Tom actually recognized me from long ago. I was in and out in about 15 – 20 minutes. I’m sure if you wanted a detailed haircut, Tom could do it, but that’s not what I go for. $ 10 mens haircut, can’t go wrong with that. Only negative is the loud Asian bantering, but what do you expect from an ASIAN hair salon. Definitely coming back and seeing Tom (make an appointment and early, he books up fast).

I’ve gone to other places in Glendora, Pomona, etc., but none of them can compare to this place. Make sure to get Tom though; his style of cutting is quick and accurate, and he handles the scissor like crazy! Price is $ 10 :) Make sure to make an appt because Tom is very popular.

Tom is the best! I’ve been coming here for 4 years and he’s the only one I let touch my golden locks of hair!
The salon itself is nothing to write home about… just on Unilocal.The décor and furniture was outdated even for the 1980’s, but for a $ 10 cut do you really care? For $ 10 (straight cut) or $ 15 dollars (wash & cut) you’re in and out in 15 minutes tops so you don’t even really notice.
Just make sure to make an appointment with him because he gets quite busy in the late afternoon. Oh, he’s not there on Tuesday’s either.
One caveat: It IS an Asian hair salon, so be forewarned that there can occasionally be some loud banter in Chinese between the female stylists and/​or customers as well. Again, you’re out so quick you don’t really care anyways.
The small, skinny, older lady who owns the place is very sweet too!

I’ve been coming to Tom for more than a decade now for his quick fix, clean cut hair styling. It usually takes him about 15 minutes, I let him know what I’m looking for and it’s done.
Hair always looks good, and I always feel like I’ve had a weight removed from my head because he does a great job staggering your hair so that it feels lighter and is easier to wash.

Having discovered this place through a friend’s referral 4 years ago, I haven’t gone anywhere else to get my hair done! Tom is a magic man when it comes to knowing what to do with my hair.
Granted, this mom & pop shop doesn’t have the amenities of a 5 star salon, but what it lacks in décor it makes up with the no-​nonsense approach to getting you in and out looking fresh and so clean. I dunno about you but there’s a certain sense of nostalgia I get when it comes to getting my hair did at an all-​Asian venue. I’m reminded of trips to the local Asian salon with my mom where the whole family’s beauty needs were taken care of on a weekend by one person. Tom is that person for me!
While I can continue the search for a place that knows how to cut my straight Asian textured hair and in that process spend more money and time in regrowing my mop, why bother when Monalisa makes me look and feel like a masterpiece?!
