My husband and I had the absolute worst experience with this company. We had nothing but problems with the owner. First when he came out for a quote our roof was quoted at $ 8,000 and he asked for a $ 1,000 deposit, this is in fact illegal since contractors are only supposed to charge a 10% advance of the quoted work but we were not going to split hairs over $ 200. We should have ran for the hills at this juncture. He said it would be 2 – 3 weeks before work would begin. After 4 weeks we called the office to see when they were planing to come out since we were going out of town and didn’t want them to come when we were gone. We called 4 times over two weeks with no response from them and had to send a threading email that we were canceling our contract before someone got back to us. No apology and no communication. The crew finally showed up and started work. I let them know they could come in and use the bathroom if needed as it was a hot day. None of the crew did this but preferred to use my front and back yard as their toilet. This was disgusting and also frustrating becuase I also run a business from my home and my clients had to witness this happening. The next day while I was outside watering plants, a roll of tarpaper fell off the roof and almost hit me, broke our fence and also broke one of our chairs in the front of the house. There was no apology, or compensation for the damage. I called and sent an email regarding all the issues on the evening of the second day. Again, no call back or email response. On the third day I became uncertain the roof was the color we ordered. Unfortunately everything was complete at this point. Since it was after 5:00 and the workers were gone I was going to have my husband call in the morning. Well, at 8:30pm the owner called me to see how I liked the roof. I told him the roof looked to be the wrong color and he started yelling at me and cussing me out and told me to «just f@*king live with it.» Again no apology no customer service and then accused me of «ruining his evening.» Um… We were the ones who got the wrong roof. As it turns out it was correct, but based on mess left by the crew, we had strong reason to believe the wrong shingle had been used. Thankgoodness it was correct becuase if not the owner took no responsibility for the mistake. The roofing crew also broke a beam in the front of our garage that he said he would not replace. The work was completed on a Friday and He then began to call us 6 – 10 time a day for his money, this was over the weekend and just showed up at our house first thing in the morning on Monday incessantly ringing our doorbell for the money. We were in fact not awake and had a sudden death in our family over the weekend so paying this jerk wasn’t exactly high on our priority list. In conclusion he did not repair any of the damages from his crew, never apologized and I could not imagine a more horrible experience. Please avoid this company and man, he is dishonest and a jerk.

Sorry this review is so late – I thought I had posted it, and found it wasnt here. But better late than never! I had to share my experience with Gardner Roofing, as it is seems rare that you have such a positive experience with contractors! In 2011 we decided to purchase a short sale home with lots of repairs required, up in the hills above Banning. The skylights were leaking and there was mold in the laundry area, and all in all, we had been told by the lenders inspecter to be prepared to spend thousands on a new roof. Our first call was to a competitor of Gardner’s, in our area, and predictably the contractor spent about 10 minutes on the roof and told us we needed a whole new roof – ours was«shot.» The quote was for about $ 10,000 or more, as I recall. Fortunately we decided to get another quote and called Gardner Roofing. Vince came out promptly and looked the roof over carefully and let us know that there was nothing wrong with the roof, we just needed to have the skylights replaced and/or repaired. The job was quickly scheduled, the skylights order, and was quickly completed – for the cost of several hundred dollars instead of thousands. Dealing with Gardner Roofing was pleasant and professional, start to finish – from the courteous girl who answered our call, to Vince who gave us the quote, and including the entire team of professionals who installed and repaired the skylights and roof. The work was done with minimal mess, and the clean up was perfect. They were even helpful in working with us on our payment method, as we never actually went into the office. I honestly cannot believe people who leave 1 star reviews because the contractor called them 45 minutes late. And they didnt even use their service. Sometime s***t happens, people, and if he was on someone’s roof and couldnt get to a phone, you shouldn’t penalize his reputation for something like that. I would hate to think someone used that«OTHER» unscrupulous roofer, because they saw that Gardner Roofing only had an average of 3 stars!!! I depend heavily on reviews from both Unilocal and Angie’s List, and I hate irresponsible reviewers – I always read the bad reviews first. You can tell alot from them! Sooooo…If you are looking for an honest, professional and reasonably priced roofer you can trust, look no further than Gardner Roofing. They have been in the business a long time, and have an excellent reputation in the community. I nhighly recommend them.

Well, wish I could give a review of the services that the company provides but I never gave them an opportunity. After calling on a Wednesday and being told that Vince, the owner, would call me to schedule an appointment, I received a call on Thursday. Vince stated he was out of town and could meet me at my house at 8:00am Monday. My wife and I shifted our schedules and were ready at 8:00 on Monday morning. Vince called at 8:45am to let me know that he was running late.(geez…ya think). There was no apology, just an «OK» when I told him that I no longer wanted his services. What happened to professionalism these days? To think that this was a decision made by the OWNER. Terrible leadership and miserable service. Thanks for wasting my time! My advice to the consumer — go with one of the other company’s in the yellow pages. Large ads don’t equate to respectable service.
