Established in 1968.

Aaron Overhead Door has always been a family owned business since 1968. It traded hands in 2001 to the Conte family who has owned many different businesses in and around San Jose CA over the past 60 years. The Conte’s have recently retired and passed the business to their son Larry Conte who is ambitious and understands the importance of a great reputation. Starting in 2013 Larry Conte is now the sole owner of Aaron Overhead Door and he is determined to establish the household name that his parents once help create. Larry has owned and operated his own businesses separate of Aaron Overhead Door but his passion is to carry on the vision & legacy of his parents and help the San Jose area by offering a reliable & honest service to the San Jose residents. The business has taken off since Larry has taken over. His creativity and excitement has created a buzz in the office as well as with his clients.

This is also the second time we’ve successfully used Aaron Overhead Door to both install and replace garage stuff. Recently, the garage door opener just lost it’s collar & clips of the old Genie. I’m a huge DIY’r and would normally tackle this type of replacement, having installed electrical appliances, done plumbing, HVAC, replaced breakers, fixtures & locks, roof issues and landscape. This wasn’t going to be a problem. After much searching and deducing the needs and deciding to upgrade, several bids were solicited and Larry Conte at Aaron Overhead Door not only put together a easy to decide on an opener, but he actually came out same day and slapped it all in with schedule time to spare. Awesome, efficient work done at a very reasonable price. It was just time to put down the screwdriver and have a professional do the work.
After the install, we got a good laugh since his old sticker was on the garage door, having installed the new door about a decade ago. Product Wi-​Fi Garage Door Opener Liftmaster 8550. Highly recommend this outfit.

The best thing about this company is the customer service. A vendor of theirs messed up our order, but Larry bent over backwards to help alleviate the problems created. The doors are very nice and we are very happy with the end product, so it’s not just customer service where this company shines. I really appreciate the fact that Larry made up for the mistakes that are out of his control and I highly recommend this company and will definitely use them again if I ever need garage door services.

This is my second review about Aaron’s Overhead Doors. I cannot find enough words to describe how great this company is. A spring on one of my garage doors broke, at night, and they were there to fix it the following morning. This same week my garage door opener started to fail. The tech, Freddy, looked at this door opener when he fixed the spring on the other garage door. He tried a fix to see if the garage door opener would work a bit longer, which I thought was more than fair, but it again failed that night. I called and asked them to come today and put a new garage door opener in for me. Freddy, the tech, was at my home at the time I requested and put the new opener on. This is the quietest garage door opener I have ever had. Freddy was so kind in explaining how to use it and very considerate of my time.
I called the owner of the company and told him what a great employee he had in Freddy and what a great company he had. As I stated, in my last review, this is the best overhead garage company I have ever dealt with.

This is the second time I’ve successfully used Aaron Overhead to repair my ancient garage door opener, and both times, it was awesome. The callback from the individual repairman was literally a few minutes after I called the main number, and it turned out he was nearby, so was at my garage in less than 30 minutes. He was professional & friendly, and even showed me what was wrong and what to look for if the same problem happened again.
When my garage door opener dies eventually, I’ll definitely be going to them for replacement.

Had my new garage door installed after waiting sooooo long for association approval. — That’s another story.– Anyway, major issue. I can’t wake up neighbors anymore with the old, outdated, loud, motor. Lol. Larry was fantastic!!! Such a professional. He also helped me program all my universal remotes from my old garage door.

My garage door recently began stopping a foot «up». Then another started doing it a week later. They are in good condition, though 15 years old. I saw AOHD’s coupon in Valupak mailer with a «tune-​up» special. I described the problem to Larry (owner) and he came out for a free appraisal. Turns out the coil springs go bad (don’t lift) after time. You can tighten them some, but they’ll either break leaving you stranded or your motor will still need to work hard to lift the door and could burn out (even worse). Instant quote one afternoon for replacing 3 door springs and the job completed the next morning with 100% satisfaction, plus learning what I can easily do to maintain (lube) moving parts and further extend door life. They helped me catch it before soon braking a spring and/​or burning out motors — both ultimately more hassle or cost.

Talk about good, honest and hard working business, just turn here. I had the great opportunity to meet Larry Conte today after my garage door had failed. What a gentleman!
He explained the problem, fixed the problem and then spent extra time out of his busy day showing my how to properly maintain my garage door.
When the owner of the business comes to your house to take care of a problem, you know you’re dealing with a company that cares about its customers.
There are many merchants in San Jose who could probably learn a lot about work ethics from Aaron Overhead Doors.

We contacted Aaron Overhead Door on a weekend when our door motor broke. The owner, Larry called us immediately and arranged to come by the next day to look at it.
One day later his installation crew came out and replaced the equipment and reprogrammed our remotes. They were very pleasant and professional. There was a problem with one remote and Larry came back and spent probably close to an hour figuring it out and fixing it.
I would recommend this company highly.

We had Larry Conte out to service our garage doors, we were very pleased with the service and the price. He showed up on time and had a great attitude. He tightened all the bolts and lubed all the hinges and programmed all the remotes. Some of the remotes had failed, this prompted the service call. I would definitely recommend Larry for good service.

I’ve used Aaron Overhead door twice and I heard about them from a referral at work.
The first time was at my townhouse and the Screw Drive Carriage (I call it the «turtle» because it moves back and forth along the track up there) was stripped. Aaron Overhead Door replaced it and the door worked great.
Now we’re at a new house and the garage door is «smiling» — completely worn out weatherstripping and a big gap between the door and the concrete. Aaron Overhead Door replaced the weatherstripping with a perfect color match and now leaves can’t blow into the garage. And no critters can come in, either.
On time, fair price, easy to work with, good work. A square dealer. They do lots of new door install and security gates as well.

I just had Aaron Overhead Door replace our original wooden garage doors and chain-​driven Genie garage door openers with high quality metal doors and LiftMaster units, and what a difference it made! The old doors were heavy, unattractive, and water damaged, and the openers noisy and unsafe (pre-​dated availability of auto-​reverse safety feature).
The owner — Larry — was extremely helpful during the entire process, recommending what kind of doors to use for our application, which openers worked best, etc. (took his time answering my questions). He also quoted a fair & reasonable price for the job, and accommodated us in regards to the installation date.
The new garage doors are lighter, stronger, and far more attractive with windows installed. The LiftMaster garage door openers are quiet (battery operated), belt-​driven, and energy efficient. Even the wall-​mounted touch pads are Hi-​Tech which automatically turn on the garage door lights via motion sensors when you enter the garage, and display the time & garage temperature.
The installation itself went quickly and without a hitch. The installer — Julian — arrived promptly, was courteous & professional, and installed the new doors and openers in approximately four hours. Larry showed up towards the end of the installation, helped set up all of the devices (remotes, keypad, etc.), and offered to come back for the first maintenance free of charge. They also hauled away the old doors and openers, and swept the garage before leaving.
I highly recommend Aaron Overhead Door for any garage door or opener replacement project you’re considering for your home or business. My experience was a solid 5 stars!

I was extremely happy with the service provided by Larry Conte. He was very professional and took the time to not only provide me with great service but my father in law as well same day. If you want the best absolute service from a real professional give Larry a call you won’t regret it. Wanted to thank Larry for his help with repairs needed after PG&E outage and voltage fluctuations caused damage to the unit.
It took some time, but they found solution to the problem and it is working fine now.
The company is easy to communicate with. They answer your calls without leaving you talking to answering machine for an hour. Returning your calls promptly as well.

We were connected with Aaron Overhead Door through our contractor. He informed us that they hadn’t worked together in the past, but we were sure glad they hooked up for our project.
The service, punctuality, and attitude of Larry and his team were awesome. Even though we’d changed our original plan for track layout (switching from a standard to a roof pitch installation), Larry made it happen with no complaint and without an astronomically over-​inflated price adjustment (the bulk of the cost was in swapping out the motor for a side mounted type).
In addition, my wife wanted to have some decorative handles installed (something I was initially opposed to doing). Because he saw how important it was to her, he made an effort to find the right fit — and didn’t charge us for them!
As I said, it was a great experience working with Larry and his team. They went the extra mile and for that, we’ll use them and recommend them without hesitation.
