We prehang, replace, or repair doors, windows, mouldings, and screens. Also specializing in products for Historic Restoration projects. This includes odd-​sized doors and jambs, architecturally correct door and moulding styles, along with older door and window repair and replacement. In addition we offer prehang and duplication services for customer’s new doors that have been purchased from other vendors. We help with free estimates, contractor referrals, and quick turn-​around for most projects.

History

Established in 1954.

Alum Rock Hardware opened in 1954. It was then that two friends, Jerry Rose and Stan Faraday, began to serve the still largely agricultural San Jose and surrounding areas. The business supplied tools, plumbing, hardware, electrical supplies, paint, and house and garden materials, along with items specifically for the agricultural community. Over the decades the business expanded to include windows and doors to accommodate the enormous local growth. The business progressed for many years and developed a reputation as «the place you’ll find everything.» They also developed generational relationships with their various customers and neighbors. This continued for more than fifty years until the current financial crisis. Downsizing was necessary so all but the door and window department was liquidated by 2010. Since then, sales have improved and Alum Rock Hardware, Windows, and Doors looks forward to many more years of service to the community.

Jerry is a great guy who has been with us for 16 years and knows a lot about the construction industry in interior and exterior or residential and commercial whether it’s for new construction, an addition or a remodel. He does our measuring for our customers along with a lot of our special orders and is also the best person I know on the field to meet our customers for any questions or concerns they may have with there Windows, Doors, or Hardware…
